It. Is. COLD!
We start the day off with a wind chill of -23. It's so cold that Jim actually parked in a metered parking spot. (That's when you know it's cold!) The guys talk about the inauguration and the fact that Maino wanted to date Susan Ford, President Ford's daughter. Civic Media Meteorologist Brittney Merlot tells us how long this cold spell will last. She says that the wind will continue for the next several days, keeping things very cold. She also shares some experiments she'll try over the next few days, including creating ice balls in balloons and throwing boiling water into the below-zero air.

In hour two, fill-in hosts Matt Rothschild and Angela Lang are joined by Wisconsin's newest Poet Laureate, Brenda Cardenas. They discuss just what the job of the Poet Laureate is, and her plans for a statewide collaborative poetry and visual art project. We also dip into politics with some poetry she wrote about the first Trump inauguration, and at the bottom of the hour hear her reading of Against Insularity from her new book Trace. Later, we're joined by Brittney Merlot, our Civic Media meteorologist, getting the scoop on the brutal temperature swing about to his us this weekend, and also the snowy owl migration. Matt, a huge bird watcher, also shares some tips on caring for wild birds in cold weather.
