Supreme Court Shakeup (Hour 2)
Two conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court justices complained loudly about some changes made by the new progressive majority, but we’ll talk to a former state Supreme Court candidate who says the changes actually return some transparency and accountability to the court. Also: Erik Gunn of the Wisconsin Examiner talks about conservative efforts to undermine a financial services watchdog agency.
More Pressure for Fair Maps (Hour 2)
A second lawsuit has been filed that challenges the gerrymandered maps that give legislative Republicans many more seats compared to their actual level of support among Wisconsin voters. We’ll talk to people behind last week’s first lawsuit and ask if it’s realistic to expect new electoral maps in 2024 that aren’t rigged.
Pomp, Circumstance, and Crybabies (Hour 2)
The Wisconsin state Capitol was the scene Tuesday of the formal investiture of new Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz. Nearby, a former conservative Supreme Court candidate was proclaiming himself a victim for being ousted as head of the state court system now that progressives control the high court. Wait, aren’t conservatives the ones who are against entitlements? We’ll review the happier points of the day with Rep. Jodi Emerson.
Todd Allbaugh joins us to talk about “No Labels”, Waukesha school board, symbols that should be universal and other news headlines.
Our State Fairs Are Great State Fairs (Hour 2)
We talk to Rebecca Cooke, the first Democrat to announce a campaign aimed at unseating Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden in the 3rd District. And on this first day of the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, we review the many fairs out there to enjoy: state, county, and district.

Parental Rights for Me, Not for Thee (Hour 2)
With a growing chorus of voices urging Gov. Tony Evers to veto the Republican’s version of a new state budget, we’ll review the ways Wisconsin taxpayers are already getting fleeced by having to send more money to voucher schools that are less transparent, free to discriminate, and offer at best a mixed bag of results.
Weekly Best of UpNorthNews Radio with Pat Kreitlow for Jun 24
Gov. Tony Evers signed off on a deal that increases funds for local governments and schools, but it also strengthens the voucher schools that continue to undermine public education. The UW System is still facing a Republican budget cut, even with a record $7 billion surplus. GOP lawmakers tried to sneak through a change that threatens technical college budgets. And those same legislators are trying to kill an affordable childcare program.
Incompatible, Not Uninhabitable

Another One Rides The Bus
Today public transportation is the topic of discussion. Todd Allbaugh joins us to provide an inside perspective on how Wisconsinites have been deprived of light railways.
