Beer Tents, Parades, And Cheap Dates (Hour 2)

July 2, 2025

In today’s second hour, Todd updates us on the ever-embarrassing Congressman Derrick Van Orden’s latest conduct. During budget hearings today, a reporter asked him if President Trump is leading the GOP around “by the nose.” In typical bully fashion, he used foul language and belittled the reporter.

Trygve Olson sticks around as Todd asks us What’s Worse: beer tents or parades? While both are amazing, we take your calls and texts on which one doesn’t always live up to Summer celebration standards.

Are you a cheap date? If you ask Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) certainly is. McGovern refers to how easily Murkowski rolled over and voted with the MAGA crowd on Trump’s budget reconciliation bill, and he means it as quite the insult.

The Birthday Boy Breaks Down The Budget (Hour 1)

July 2, 2025

This week, we get a double dose of our typical midweek guests, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project! Firstly, we wish an early happy birthday to Pat, who celebrates 61 tomorrow. After that, we review the emergent details of Wisconsin’s state budget deal as it nears approval.

This morning, the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down our state’s 1849 abortion ban. We welcome Michelle Velasquez, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s Chief Strategy Officer, to explain how this affects women’s rights to healthcare. Ultimately, while this ruling still leaves some questions open, this is a big victory for personal healthcare rights, especially for women.

Pat and Trygve Talk Spelunking (Hour 1)

June 30, 2025

Today, Todd is spending some time at a family gathering, so for our first hour, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project step in to guest host! They start off the show with a conversation about the Trump Administration’s proposal. Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has stood staunchly opposed to this bill, but over the weekend, he caved in. Pat and Trygve talk about how Republicans who don’t quite align with MAGA are acting around the nation. Some, like Senator Ron Johnson, are talking a big game and caving in behind closed doors. Others who actually fight substantively against the MAGA agenda find themselves pushed out of office.

At the bottom of the hour, State Senator Kelda Roys joins us again for another weekly check-in on the state budget and other important happenings in the Capitol.

Todd, Trygve and Pat also discuss the latest Marquette Law School Poll results and whether or not Tony Evers should run for a third term as governor. Why Juneteenth Matters with Earl Ingram (Hour 2)

June 18, 2025

In today’s second hour, Todd asks us What’s Worse: people who are critical of others or people who are not critical of others? After taking your calls and texts, it seems that people are pretty divided, but the most important thing is that criticism is based in fact.

At the bottom of the hour, Civic Media’s own Earl Ingram joins us to talk about tomorrow’s Juneteenth celebration in Milwaukee.

While that item was cut from yesterday’s agenda, State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos now confirms that his party does support these cuts.

June 4, 2025

In our second hour, we are joined by our other typical Wednesday guest, Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project. We share with him the story of Clayton Ljungberg’s Wisconsin marathons we spoke about last hour.

This afternoon, Todd asks us What’s Worse: being awake in the middle of the night or oversleeping? We take your calls and texts.

Over the last few days, we have talked about Senator Joni Ernst’s absurd and condescending behavior at a recent town hall. Trygve weighs in on how MAGA normalizes being an absolute jerk.
