Civic Media Spotlight for the Weekend of March 8th & 9th (Hour 2)
We cover a lot of politics on Civic Media, but we all need a break from the daily grind and some folks find that in a book club. Author Laura Bird is back on UpNorthNews Radio and instead of recommending books, she’s telling us all about how to find a good book club or how to create one that’s just right for you and your friends.
The, Maino & the Mayor is joined by Will Kocken from H.O.O.A.H, WI, to discuss what you can do this week: Invest in Veterans Week. Will also says that Northeast Wisconsin is very supportive of veterans and veteran service organizations.
After that on Matenaer On Air, Jane, Greg and Calvin are joined by host of Amicus: A Law Review, Jim Santelle for the start of a weekly segment where we will take a deep dive into the news coming out of the courts around the country, and possibly the world. This week we're talking about the decision from SCOTUS on whether or not President Trump can withhold payments from foreign aid groups and how one ally voted against the president. Jim also draws comparison between Trump and leaders of bygone days when they declare "I am the law".
The hour closes out with The John and Gordy Show welcoming back Mike McCabe to talk about claiming white as the symbolic color of those unhappy with either party.

Dissecting Trump’s Speech with Pat and Trygve (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, so our friends Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project are back to discuss the news of the day! They join Todd in recapping last night’s presidential address from Trump. As expected, it was a campaign speech with very little basis in reality. Trump focused on creating clips that will spread like wildfire on social media. He either misspoke or lied about Social Security payments and transgenic mice, which he referred to as “transgender mice.”
Towards the end of the hour, Trygve takes calls with a wide range of political questions from listeners.

Where’s The Solution?! (Hour 1)
So Elon Musk has an opinion on Social Security and so do other elected officials...what they don't have are actual solutions to the problem! And guess what? US Senator Ron Johnson is worried!! But don't fret, he'll most likely vote against the interest of farmers, vets and everyone! Then we welcome Host of Up North News Radio, Pat Kreitlow to talk about all them "Musky Bucks" making their way into the Wisconsin State Supreme Court Race (and why!) And we round things up with a talk about all the town hall meetings that won't be happening, because Republicans don't like to be yelled at for poor job performance, but they looooooove pancakes.

The hour kicks off when the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Professor Bob Harvey for a history lesson, educating the show on the slave trade, religious freedoms and touches the hearts of callers and texters.
Then, Northeastern Wisconsin based Rock/ Rap musician Matt Harper joins Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba. Pete and Matt talk about the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Half Time Show, the Rock/ Rap Combo, and Matt performs songs in-studio.
After that, there was a little bit of Black History Month history made in Wisconsin this week. For seven years, Republicans have obstructed a clean Black History Month resolution from the Legislative Black Caucus. This year, it passed the Assembly on a unanimous voice vote. UpNorthNews asks the caucus chair and vice chair, Sen. Dora Drake and Rep. Sequanna Taylor, about the small victory, the ongoing fights to take real action on areas where communities of color still face broad disparities, and how the next state budget can help or hurt their cause.
Finally, the Dom Salvia Show likes to end each day with something good. Dom, Jess, and any guests must each share something either happy or simply good that we've experienced recently. Thursday, with Jim Santelle, we got a lot of good. From happy news on our text line to good acts we can do and the power of art, this is a great short segment!
