Matt Rothschild
Now we get back up. And we do the work. (Hour 2)
As Kamala Harris said in her concession speech today: The fight for our country is always worth it. Always. With cohost Matt Rothschild, we continue to make space for our experiences. We're all feeling a lot right now. We take the time to listen to Harris' full concession speech. In it, she shares a message of hope. Of continuing the good fight. A message of resilience and perseverance. In conceding, she presents a graceful, defiant, healing presence. And she is all of those things.
Matt brings us some wisdom from Tim Snyder's pamphlet On Tyranny. You can read a shortened version of the entire pamphlet here.

Now What? (Hour 1)
Today, we sit with strong feelings. Once more, Donald Trump has won the presidency. We're all processing that together. In this first hour, with Matt Rothschild as co-host, we make space for everyone to share what they are experiencing. These days will be difficult. The next four years will challenge our republic. We will not face those challenges alone.

Democracy- it’s on the ballot (Hour 2)
Wisconsin State Rep Francesca Hong joins Dom and Matt to talk about the local issues on the ballot next week. In these final days leading up to the election, many of us feel uneasy and overwhelmed. Representative Hong encourages us to use that energy and *do something*. Call and text your loved ones, make a plan to vote, and do what you can to protect our democracy.
In breaking news today, SCOTUS ruled today in favor of systemic voter purging in Virginia. Today's news also brings more fallout from the Madison Square Garden rally from Trump. More Republicans attempt to distance themselves from Trump as Nikki Haley berates the party for the rally. And, well Biden stuck his foot in his mouth.

A more hopeful closing argument(Hour 1)
Kamala Harris delivered her closing arguments for why voters should choose her as the next President of the United States. She chose the Ellipse in Washington, DC for this address. You may recall that this is the same spot where, nearly four years ago, Donald Trump used his pulpit to incite a violent mob to attack the Capitol. Harris' closing remarks differ widely from Trump's this past Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Rather than a message stewed in hatred, fear, and divisiveness, Harris shared her plan to lead and unite this country.
Greg Palast, investigative reporter and lawyer, joins Dom and Matt to talk about voter suppression. Greg's new film, Vigilantes Inc, explores the explosion of highly organized non-governmental voter suppression efforts in America over the past years.

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Oct 26
Catch up on the best segments from this week of the Dom Salvia Show!
First, from Monday's second hour, The Enablers Bear Responsibility:
Mary Trump, niece of Donald, compiled a list of 13 reasons that disqualify the 45th POTUS from office ever again. The list, we should note, spans only the past 2 weeks. We dig into some of the lowlights. Plus- don't call it weaving!
Then, a segment from Thursday's second hour: Let's see what we can work out- together. Bill Press, podcaster, pundit, and political prognosticator, joins Dom and Earl to check in on the presidential race. He sees Harris' building of a broad coalition of political allies as an extremely powerful path forward.
Wrapping up with the last two segments from Wednesday's second hour: Qualified, Experienced, Personable. We began the show with an hour diving into all the reason's Trump is unfit for the office of President. Including testimonial from his former Chief of Staff and Marine General John Kelly. You can listen to that full interview, conducted by the New York Times, here. But in these two segments, we break down why we believe that Kamala Harris will win.

Qualified, Experienced, Personable: The case for Harris (Hour 2)
Matt Rothschild co-hosts with Dom today.
In this hour, Dom and Matt turn to why Kamala Harris should (and will!) win this presidential election. As should be abundantly, grotesquely obvious, Donald Trump is not fit for office. The people who know Trump best and the people who know this country's democracy best share this view. That alone does not qualify his opponent for the presidency.
Kamala Harris is qualified for the presidency by her policies, her experience, and her character. Harris has assembled a broad coalition of support, from former Democratic presidents to past and current Republican leaders in Congress. A majority of Americans support Harris' proposed policies. She possesses the qualifications, character, and capability to lead us well as Commander in Chief. We think the voters will elect Kamala Harris for President of these United States. So does James Carville, veteran political advisor and analyst. Now let's get to the polls and make it happen.

Fascist to the Core: the case against Trump (Hour 1)
Matt Rothschild co-hosts with Dom.
Today, we're digging deep into the ever-increasing calls that Trump is a fascist, supports fascism, and would be a fascistic autocrat if re-elected. Mind, these calls do not come from far left liberals alone. It is the people who know Trump best, the people who worked the closest with him, and the people who know the most about fascism making these assertions. Yes, progressives say it too- check out Matt's op-ed from yesterday. And so does former Chief of Staff to Donald Trump, retired Marine General John Kelly. Kelly sat for an interview with the New York Times where he laid out very compellingly the case against Trump returning to office. At the core, as stated by Trump's top general, Mark Milley: Trump is a fascist. He openly admires present and historical fascists. He is unqualified to lead this country.

A Fight for Fair Maps in Wisconsin
How we got fairer maps in Wisconsin, and what they mean for the upcoming election. Matt Rothschild talks with Jay Heck of Common Cause, Carlene Bechen of the Wisconsin Fair Maps Coalition, and Dan Shafer of Civic Media and the Recombobulation Area on the history of redistricting in Wisconsin and the saga that occurred around these most recent maps.

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Oct 14-18th
Catch up on these best segments from the week!
From the first hour of Tuesday's show: Maggie Daun joins Dom for a bit of overtime to address Trump's proposed economic plan. You know, the one that most economists agree would weaken our economy by raising inflation and deficits. Now, both Maggie and Dom have formal training in economists. So they do know a thing or two when it comes to tariffs, taxes, and trade wars (oh my). And when Trump claims that his proposed tariffs are just "a figure of speech," it shows that our two have a better grasp on the topic than he ever will.
Next, from Tuesday's second hour: Hey conductor? I'd like to get off this Crazy Train. On Monday, the 45th POTUS hosted an event billed as a Town Hall. Dom and Jess thought they understood the format of a Town Hall. What we saw was... not that. Instead, we saw Trump take a few pre-ordained questions. And then hard-pivot away from questions aboard the Crazy Train . And stand, wobbling and smirking in the only way he knows how to dance, for nearly 40 minutes.
Then, in Thursday's first hour: Who determines when America is great? We. The. People. Eloisa Gomez joins us for a discussion on voter engagement. Eloisa is an author (Somos Latinas: Voices of Wisconsin Latina Activists) and activist with the League of Women Voters, Wisconsin. As part of her efforts with the League, Eloisa co-founded Comité por El Voto Latino, an outreach and advocacy group focused on increasing engagement and excitement with Latino voters.
Finally, from Wednesday's first hour: A President for All or A President for One, a conversation with Gwen Moore. Gwen Moore, sitting Congresswoman representing Wisconsin's 4th district, joins us to discuss the current state of the Presidential race.

Doing The Work (Hour 1)
Matt Rothschild guest hosts for the day. Madison firebrand, Mr. Ethics himself, Scot Ross joins Matt for the top of the hour. Scot is the executive director of One Wisconsin Now, a liberal advocacy group based in Madison. They check in on the state of the presidential and US Senate race in Wisconsin. Current polling has us a bit anxious, but both Matt and Scot urge us not to fret. Scot shares his experience lately at the Waukesha County Dems monthly meeting. Rather than the typical dozen or so attendees, he reports well over 100 people eager to volunteer and do the work required to get Democrats elected.
In the bottom of the hour Matt talks with Bianca Shaw of All Voting is Local. Bianca serves as the Senior Campaign Manager of the Wisconsin branch of AViS. All Voting is Local works to connect people to the resources they need to fulfill their right and responsibility to vote. Bianca assures us that AViS is prepared for the challenges voters will face on election day. And any that may arise through the certification process. Remember y'all- local elections matter. Your voice matters. Make a plan and exercise your CIVIC duty!
