Earl Ingram
Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Jan 18
Catch up on the best of this week's segments and join us on Monday for more!
First, Jack Smith's report on the January 6th insurrection and Donald Trump's role in it, with Maggie Daun from Tuesday's first hour.
Then, how bad of a problem is wealth inequality? Hear from our favorite Delano Democrat Harvey Kaye from the second hour of Monday's show.
Next, on Wednesday, the warring parties in Israel and Gaza agreed to a three phase ceasefire and hostage deal. The event bears strange echoes to the Iranian hostage crises of 1979-1980, which Dom discusses with Matt Rothschild and a disgruntled frequent caller with too much disinformation in his diet. This, from the first hour of Wednesday's show.
Finally, we remember Mr. Baseball, Bob Uecker, with Civic Media sports reporter Mike Clemens from the first hour of our Thursday show.
Have a great weekend, we'll catch ya on Monday!
Legacy is a tricky thing (Hour 2)
Earl Ingram joins us as cohost for the day.
The federal minimum wage, on this day in 2025, is $7.25. Just as it's been for the past 15 years. That's a shameful legacy for America. Today in the rush of Senate confirmation hearings of this week, Senator Bernie Sanders pressed the Treasury Secretary nominee Scott Bessent on raising this pitiful standard. Bessent declined. Turning to our environment, in Sander's questioning, nominee Lee Zeldin says he does believe climate destruction is a significant threat and is not a hoax! That's some good news, we guess, though the bar's damn low.
We move then to Biden's farewell address to the nation. In it, Biden ponders on the legacy he leaves behind as well as that which our greater American society is building. Particularly, Biden raises alarm over the growing strength of oligarchies in this country.

Wisconsin Legends (Hour 1)
Earl Ingram joins us as cohost today.
Today we say goodbye to Mr. Baseball, Bob Uecker. Bob was the voice of Milwaukee baseball- and lent his talents to nationwide baseball media- for decades. His love for the game infused each of his broadcasts, bringing joy to untold millions of listeners. To the end, Bob did his city of Milwaukee proud. Mike Clemens, Civic Media sports reporter, joins us at the bottom of the hour to share some favorite memories of Mr. Baseball. Bob Uecker, thank you for all you gave us.
For the middle of the hour, Dom and Earl turn their attention to the Wisconsin governorship. Tony Evers, now in the midst of his second term, reportedly has not yet decided if he will seek a third. Dom and Earl discuss, with audience participation, if indeed Evers, who will be 75 when the next election rolls around, should pursue another term. He's served Wisconsin well, but is it time for him to pass the baton? And if so, to whom?

Civic Media Spotlight for January 11th & 12th (Hour 2)
Kicking off the hour, Matenaer On Air speaks about what took place at the US Capitol 4 years ago and why we need to always remember the actions of those who tried to stand in the way of our elections and never give into the rewriting of those who stood by, supported and/or participated as "patriots" or "hostages".
After that on Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba, Madison Musician, Katie Scullin joins the show. Katie talks about what she has been doing over the past couple months. Katie shares she is writing and recording music for an album! Katie sings a song live in the studio titled "Sweet Escape."
Following that, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Attorney Roy Evans, Earl and Roy discuss the history behind the necessity for DEI and affirmative action programs in the lead up to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.
Finally, Landon Jones from his company RSPKT joins Maino & the Mayor to talk about the commercial he created for Doritos to air during the Super Bowl! Born and raised in Green Bay, he's a semi-finalist with 24 other creators, and if his commercial is chosen, it WILL air during the game, and he will receive a million-dollar prize! If you haven't seen the commercial, you can see it HERE. We're behind this guy all the way!

Godspeed, America (Hour 2)
Earl Ingram, 8-10am host on Civic Media, joins us as cohost for the day.
Dom and Earl continue to address the heart-wrenching news out of California as wildfires continue devastating the LA region. If you are searching for a way to help victims of these fires, start here. Callers weigh in on their views for what's happening, why, and what's to come. One thought repeats and weighs heavily as we reckon with this climate disaster: the incoming President has made it clear he will not support efforts to mediate further climate degradation. More fires will burn. And we know how little compassion to expect when they do.
Then, we move to a truly new story. For the first time ever, a convicted felon will be inaugurated to the presidency of these United States. This morning, Donald Trump faced felony sentencing in New York for his election interference crimes relating to hush money payments. Trump now bears the title of "convicted felon" according to New York law. The sentencing left everyone involved unhappy, so I guess, Godspeed America.

Supremely Disappointing (Hour 1)
Earl Ingram, 8-10am host on Civic Media, joins us as cohost for the day.
Starting off, Dom and Earl cover the latest in Wisconsin political news. First, the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race in April. The April 1st election sets liberal Dane County Circuit judge Susan Crawford against former Wisconsin Attorney General and current Waukesha County Circuit judge Brad Schimel for a spot on the state's highest court. Daniel Bice over at the Milwaukee Journal's most recent piece on the election showcases Schimel's most treasured aspects of his judgeship position. It's... disappointing.
Dom and Earl then move on to discussing the terrible wildfires raging in California. The fires have taken at least 10 lives, consumed tens of thousands of acres, and destroyed thousands of homes. If you are searching for a way to help victims of these fires, start here. Also disappointing? Republican elected officials disparaging the victims of the California fires and their Democratic governor for... being woke? That's what caused the fires???

Civic Media Spotlight for January 4th & 5th (Hour 2)
To begin the second hour this weekend, John and Gordy, of WMDX's morning program the John and Gordy Show, talk with Jim Santelle about being an intern at the White House in the summer of 1980 during the Carter administration, and how his presidency is unjustly overlooked.
Then, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Alan Borsuk, Senior Fellow in Public Policy at Marquette Law School, to discuss the issues facing Milwaukee Public Schools. Earl and Alan talk about the politics of how the state funds education, how mismanagement led to the current problems, and the path ahead for the district.
After that on the Dom Salvia Show, Dom and cohost of the day Earl Ingram discuss the desperate need for elder leaders to pass the torch. With the average age of a US Senator being 68 years and a distinct lack of youth voices in politics, it's no wonder young people didn't turn up to vote. We need elected officials who represent AND resemble their constituents.
We close out the weekend with a segment from WGBW and WISS's morning program, Maino and the Mayor. The guys talk about this day in 1967 when the famed Ice Bowl took place in Green Bay. The Packers beat the Cowboys, and the goalpost came down. We visited this great memory with several guests, including former reporter Tony Walter. He shares many great stories based on that day in his book "Ice Bowl: The Game That Will Never Die."

Better ways ahead- if we can pass the torches in time (Hour 2)
Earl Ingram joins us to cohost this first show of the New Year. What with the new year and all, the US House of Representatives will vote on new rules to guide their new session and a new Speaker to lead the chamber tomorrow. Tune in tomorrow to see how that all goes...
In news both local and national, Ben Wikler's candidacy for Chair of the Democratic National Committee advances. Chuck Schumer, current Senate Majority leader endorsed Wikler's bid in a show of supporting a new wave of fresh leadership for the party. We are past due for a changing of the hands that lead this country. Earlier in the month, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came up short in her bid for the ranking spot on the House Oversight Committee. She lost against 74-year-old Rep. Gerry Connolly, who stated that he was due for the position.

This is all US, man (Hour 1)
We're bringing in the New Year with Earl Ingram as cohost. 2025 dawns with too many people firing off guns and a terror attack in New Orleans. Not to let any good tragedy go to waste, Trump and his MAGA cult jumped on the story before clear details emerged to paint the attacker in New Orleans as an illegal immigrant. The driver, who rammed a rented truck into a crowd celebrating the New Year, was a native born United States citizen. In an apparently unrelated event, a man rented a Cybertruck in Las Vegas, loaded it with explosives, and killed himself with a gunshot to explode the vehicle. Another native-born US Citizen. In addition, both men served in the United States Army, the Las Vegas driver was active duty.
Dom and Earl discuss the outrage that we need to address Trump and his cronies lies about these two events. We should be using our time to address the pressing needs of those who serve our country when they return home. So we do just that. Because these events? They're a reflection of US.
