Celebrating The Great Melting Pot (Hour 1)

June 19, 2024

Happy Juneteenth! Todd joins our very own Earl Ingram in Baraboo today for the city’s inaugural Juneteenth celebration. Throughout the hour, they talk about the history of Juneteenth, as well as the impact of race on this year’s election.

Yesterday, Donald Trump spoke in Racine. As usual, very little of what he said contained a modicum of truth. Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project get ahead of some of those lies.

Then, the Maggie Daun Show opens with some lighthearted reflections on baseball after 2 great games played by the Brewers at home and away. She's gonna cover the news of the day too, we HAVE to - but baseball first.

March 23, 2024

Up first for the second hour of this week's Spotlight, the Todd Allbaugh Show is joined by Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson. The three have a good discussion as news breaks during the House hearing surrounding Wisconsin’s senior Senator, Vos flip-flopping and endorsing former President Trump, and Trump’s primary numbers continue to under-perform signaling trouble in November.

Next on the Earl Ingram Show, Earl discusses the mismatching priorities our country shows when you compare the cost of ending hunger to the campaign costs projected for the upcoming Presidential election.

After that, Matenaer On Air is joined by Maggie Daun to breakdown the "Mandate For Leadership: The Conservative Promise", put out by the Heritage Foundation. Sleepy Joe vs. Jacked-Up Joe

March 8, 2024

Last night, President Joe Biden delivered an excellent State of the Union address. However, our local Wisconsin drunkard Derrick Van Orden didn't think so, shouting out to interrupt the speech. Was he drunk at the time? Crute thinks so. There's certainly precedent of Van Orden being an angry drunk.

At the bottom of the hour, our friend Earl Ingram joins in to talk about the State of the Union speech more broadly. Also, what was up with the Republican response? Senator Katie Britt put middle school forensics teams to shame with her bizarrely breathless kitchen table speech.

Do you love the Devil’s Advocates and want even more? Tune in an hour early from 3:00-4:00 PM on MAD Radio WMDX to hear Crute’s take on local Wisconsin news! Stick around afterward for the Devil's Advocates every weekday from 4:00-6:00 PM across the Civic Media Radio Network. With Dom & Crute, it's never personal, only politics!

Civic Media Spotlight for February 10th (Hour 2)

February 10, 2024

Up first this hour, Earl and Sandy Williams are joined in the studio by United States Senator Ron Johnson. They start the show discussing the economic pressures faced by everyday Americans and disagree over how the government should address them.

Then, the Todd Allbaugh Show discusses Derrick “Do-Nothing” Van Orden living up to his new nickname, as he and his MAGA colleagues refuse to accomplish anything in the House of Representatives. Trump’s followers are stalling to avoid giving Biden a victory, endangering the entire world in the process. Van Orden himself is simply too busy complaining about the lack of Free Bird in the Culvers’ playlist.

After that, Up North News Radio has a conversation about Northeast Wisconsin seeing grassroots activity like never before with people eager to step up and run for office. Three women who have expressed interest in running for Congress are working together to talk up the issues and get more folks interested in running for something and supporting those who do.

Finally, Charles Franklin with the Marquette Law School Poll the Devil's Advocates to discuss the results of his newest poll, that was released Wednesday. Biden and Trump are neck and neck! Hayley, not so much. In fact, she's polling even worse in Wisconsin than she did last night in Nevada. Plus, people want the weed in Wisconsin, and our suspicions are confirmed: Robin Vos is the most unpopular politician in the state of Wisconsin.

Communist weed

Dom is hot with grievances on a Friday, saying that corporations are driving inflation across the country. And they are! So remember, when you're paying extra for diapers, Procter & Gamble are to blame. Crute, meanwhile, has some good news! About Joe Biden even! He's cancelling even more student loans. But oh, they're for people in selfish professions, like teachers and fire fighters...

Then, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that enthusiasm to vote amongst Black voters in Milwaukee is low. Earl Ingram Jr., host of the Earl Ingram Show, joins the Devils to talk about Black voters in Milwaukee. With VP Kamala Harris coming to Waukesha on Monday, Earl Ingram talks about the importance of Harris coming to Wisconsin ahead of November's election.

Finally, Crute listened to only hair metal ballads all the way up to his cabin today, and DEMANDS that today is hair metal ballads and only hair metal ballads today.

A Bah Humbug Christmas

December 20, 2023

President Biden is in the 414 today, and although he is maybe not the most... dynamic speaker, at least he isn't parroting Nazis! While Biden spent his time talking about replacing lead pipes and uplifting Black businesses, Trump spends his time insisting that he's never read Mein Kampf. Maybe just the cliff notes...

Earl Ingram Jr., host of the Earl Ingram Show on the Civic Media network, was there in person (for Biden, not for Trump, or for LBJ), and gives his thoughts on today's speech.

Bidenomics: Is It Working?

December 20, 2023

Today, President Biden is scheduled to speak on Bidenomics at the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce in Milwaukee. Earl Ingram of The Earl Ingram Show joins Civic Media News Director Terry Bell on the scene to provide commentary. As always on a Wednesday, we are also joined by Trygve Olson, Senior Advisor to The Lincoln Project. He and Todd discuss the future of Biden’s campaign, noting that this is far from his last visit, as Wisconsin continues to be the center of the political universe.

After breaking away to bring you President Biden’s remarks (which you can listen to here), Todd asks for your opinions. Biden touts job creation and economic growth, but what do you experience? We take several calls and gather varied opinions from across the whole state.
