We've been looking for him for days now and now The Great Hovdini has made an appearance and he says he lost the election, but he's not conceded. Trust us, we're as confused as you are right now. Then what would you do if you spent almost your entire life in America, paid your tax and voted only to find out, you're not a citizen? Then we welcome back to the show Angela Lang, the Executive Director of BLOC and we're talking about what's been going on for her and the organization since the election.

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Oct 14-18th
Catch up on these best segments from the week!
From the first hour of Tuesday's show: Maggie Daun joins Dom for a bit of overtime to address Trump's proposed economic plan. You know, the one that most economists agree would weaken our economy by raising inflation and deficits. Now, both Maggie and Dom have formal training in economists. So they do know a thing or two when it comes to tariffs, taxes, and trade wars (oh my). And when Trump claims that his proposed tariffs are just "a figure of speech," it shows that our two have a better grasp on the topic than he ever will.
Next, from Tuesday's second hour: Hey conductor? I'd like to get off this Crazy Train. On Monday, the 45th POTUS hosted an event billed as a Town Hall. Dom and Jess thought they understood the format of a Town Hall. What we saw was... not that. Instead, we saw Trump take a few pre-ordained questions. And then hard-pivot away from questions aboard the Crazy Train . And stand, wobbling and smirking in the only way he knows how to dance, for nearly 40 minutes.
Then, in Thursday's first hour: Who determines when America is great? We. The. People. Eloisa Gomez joins us for a discussion on voter engagement. Eloisa is an author (Somos Latinas: Voices of Wisconsin Latina Activists) and activist with the League of Women Voters, Wisconsin. As part of her efforts with the League, Eloisa co-founded Comité por El Voto Latino, an outreach and advocacy group focused on increasing engagement and excitement with Latino voters.
Finally, from Wednesday's first hour: A President for All or A President for One, a conversation with Gwen Moore. Gwen Moore, sitting Congresswoman representing Wisconsin's 4th district, joins us to discuss the current state of the Presidential race.
Join Dom Salvia every afternoon from 4-6pm for news (some), humor (more), and great conversation (always)! Listen throughout the state of Wisconsin on the Civic Media network and worldwide on the Civic Media app. Call or text to join the fun at 855-752-4842.
A teaching moment on what it means to be presidential (Hour 2)
Matt Rothschild and Angela Lang, Executive Director of BLOC- Black Leaders Organizing for Communities- guest cohost for the day.
What does it mean for a candidate to be professional? What about presidential? How can we quantify the qualities that give someone the credibility and right to merit the highest office in this land. Matt and Angela work their way through these questions. Because it matters that we can quantify and qualify every way that Kamala Harris possesses what she needs to lead this country. Will it sway those who have yet to decide for whom they'll cast their vote even after yet more evidence that Trump is unfit for office? That he cannot- WILL NOT- be a uniting force when he relies so heavily on division? We can only try. And try sharing this video as well, of Trump losing a man's vote once more for his many shortcomings.
In yet another monumental news day, Israeli forces killed Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza. Sinwar masterminded the October 7th, 2023 attacks on Israel that killed 1,200 people. Militants tortured- including some by sexual violence- thousands more. Terrorists took over 250 people hostage back to Gaza. Over 100 hostages remain in unknown condition, including 7 Americans. In the year since, Israel has waged a brutal war on Gaza, attacking terrorists and their infrastructure, despite their embedment in civilian locations. Over 40,000 Palestinian people have been killed. Over 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced, many more than once. Gaza lies in rubble and ruin, and 2.3 million Palestinians suffer crushing hunger. Sinwar's death gives some potential for the needle to move towards ceasefire, peace, and rebuilding. Kamala Harris shared this news to the world behind the seal of the Vice President while in Milwaukee. She once again shows her qualifications for the office of President.

Who determines when America is great? We. The. People.(Hour 1)
Matt Rothschild and Angela Lang, Executive Director of BLOC- Black Leaders Organizing for Communities- guest cohost for the day.
Joe Zepecki, founder of Zepecki Communications, a Milwaukee public relations network, joins Matt and Angela for the first half hour. Joe shares his analysis of the Harris campaign as a communications expert. Particularly, the interview Harris completed with Fox Dont'callitnews and the media appearances she's been doing with the non-legacy news networks. With the new media networks of podcast and stream shows. Joe shares why it matters when candidates meet voters where they are.
Eloisa Gomez joins us at the bottom of the hour. Eloisa speaks passionately about the issues that block many from full civic engagement. She shares some of the efforts of League of Women Voters to mediate these challenges. From increasing ballot literacy to combating voter suppression and intimidation, the League's got you covered!

Labor and the environment- y’know, easy topics (Hour 2)
Matt Rothschild continues hosting in Maggie's stead, joined by Angela Lang. They pick up the conversation begun by Maggie with Kaitlyn Henderson on the best and worst states in which to work. Beyond ensuring that laborers are fairly compensated for their work, we're concerned with safety and wellness in the rest of our lives.

“We the People” means all of us (Hour 1)
Matt Rothschild in the host seat today for Maggie. Joining Matt is Angela Lang, executive director of Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC) and current vice president of the board for ACLU Wisconsin. She and Matt address pressing needs facing our democracy, such as increasing voter access. A staggering percentage of our population cannot fulfill their civic right and responsibility to vote because they have felony records. In Wisconsin, a felony record does not prevent a citizen from voting- only an active sentence. But it's complicated, and many people are dissuaded from attempting to vote.
For the third segment, Peter Barca joins the duo to talk about why he's running to represent Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District again. Peter has a long history of representing Wisconsin and fighting for his constituents' rights. He's looking forward to getting back to his favorite work, moving Wisconsin forward.

All One Labor Family (Hour 1)
It's time to celebrate Labor Day and we kick things off with the best man to speak at Laborfest: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Unfortunately, there is a man who the unions don't really want to hear from and that's Ohio Senator JD Vance. We then welcome Civic Media's own Earl Ingram to the show to talk about his time at Laborfest, as well as how the unions run through his family. All this with our special co-host for the day, Angela Lang from BLOC.
