MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Fired up by the latest threats from Wisconsin Republicans, on “The Devil’s Advocates Radio,” Wisconsin’s Senate Minority Leader Melissa Agard delved into the hot-button issue of the potential impeachment of Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice, Janet Protasiewicz. This topic has become a focal point in Wisconsin’s political discourse, drawing attention from both local and national audiences.

Senator Agard stated, “It is absolutely terrifying, and I think, an affront to what our nation was built on, that Robin Vos is leading this charge against Janet Protasewicz like a two-year-old having a temper tantrum because they can’t have ice cream for dinner.” She further emphasized Wisconsin’s pivotal role in shaping regional political narratives, suggesting that the outcome could set a precedent for other states.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s response has been proactive. Ben Wikler, chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, posted a thread of posts on X that described what the impeachment process would look like and encouraged Democrats to call their state representatives:

🚨 RED ALERT: Republicans in the Wisconsin State Legislature are threatening to impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz—before she’s even heard a single case. A desperate, unconstitutional, and obscene threat to democracy… and 2024. Here’s what’s happening & how to fight back:🧵 pic.twitter.com/UfZpVQ6tDt

“It’s time for the people of Wisconsin to make sure the phones are ringing in the Capitol,” Senator Agard urged, “The good people of the state of Wisconsin are the bosses of the elected officials and they need to hold us accountable.”

As the 2024 elections loom, the impeachment debate is set to be a significant determinant of public opinion on the state of democracy. Wisconsin’s political leaders face the challenge of navigating this intricate issue, ensuring that the principles of justice and democracy remain at the forefront.

Senator Melissa Agard also discussed the challenges of child care in Wisconsin, the importance of reproductive rights, and the devil in the details when it comes to efforts to legalize marijuana in Wisconsin. Listen to the complete interview:
