Pat Kreitlow
Civic Media Spotlight for December 21st & 22nd (Hour 1)
First up on Spotlight, Nite Lite is joined by Greg Schwem, Nationally Syndicated Tribune Columnist, joins the show. Greg talks about a new book he wrote, Turning Gut Punches Into Punch Lines: A Comedian's Journey Through Cancer, Divorce and Other Hilarious Stuff. Pete and Greg talk about a new Major League Baseball rule, and other articles that Greg has written.
On UpNorthNews with Pat Kreitlow, the electors who decide each presidential election gathered in state capitols this week, and one of Donald Trump’s Wisconsin electors, former Gov. Tommy Thompson, said it’s time for everyone to “turn the page” on Trump’s fake electors plot to steal the 2020 election. Pat Kreitlow responds: Hell, no. Trump can pardon in federal cases, but state cases like the one in Wisconsin need to keep moving toward justice for the voters.
On the Earl Ingram Show, Earl is joined by John Diedrich from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to discuss his article regarding a woman who's son accidentally shot himself in the hand with her gun. They talk about the effect that her charges have had on her life and the racial disparities surrounding youth gun injuries and deaths.
Finally, on Matenaer On Air, US Representative Mark Pocan joins the show to talk about the tragic shooting in Madison and discusses some of the paths which need to be taken to try to create change. He also reveals a horrendous truth about news, and the need for more deaths to be deemed "important to cover".

Weekly Best of Todd Allbaugh Show for Dec 21
From Wednesday's show: Why We Can’t Just “Move On” From 2020 (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here! At the beginning of the show, Todd brings us the latest updates on Monday’s shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. Investigations on the shooter’s family suggest a broken home life, but as Pat reminds us, there are broken homes and strained relationships all around the world. What other countries don’t have is America’s wide access to firearms.
From Thursday's show: Why We Should Expand Badgercare (Hour 1)
At the bottom of the hour, we are joined by Shawn Phetteplace, the Campaigns Director of Main Street Alliance! He tells us all about Main Street Alliance and how it differs from other organizations like Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce. While WMC primarily supports larger companies, MSA seeks to prop up a more diverse range of small businesses. They are part of what makes Wisconsin great.
Wisconsin is one of only ten states that haven’t accepted new federal funding to expand Medicaid over the last ten years. One of MSA’s current objectives is to help convince our state government to do the right thing and support Badgercare. This directly hurts small business owners and employees in our state.

Why We Can’t Just “Move On” From 2020 (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here! Trygve Olson is actually here in Madison, so he will be joining us in the second hour.
Four years later, Wisconsin’s fake electors are finally beginning to suffer legal consequences for their actions. Yesterday, when asked about these developments, former Governor Tommy Thompson said that we should all move on. This rhetoric lies in stark contrast to the actions of the GOP after losing that election. Is it time to move on, or should those responsible for attempting to steal an election be held accountable? We take your calls with opinions.
Todd rounds out the hour by sharing some great reporting from WORT on the astronomical $51 million that the UW System has been spending on consultants.

GOP Reps Are Neglecting Child Abuse Survivors (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means a visit from Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project! Todd reads from an article in Mother Jones about concerning cuts to programs that help child abuse survivors. This is not hypothetical, and it’s having real impact right here in our state. Politicians like Tom Tiffany are putting corporate interests over taking care of abused children in Hayward, and we must remember this next time he’s up for reelection.
After that discussion, Todd and Trygve answer questions from listeners about what may happen under President-elect Trump. Between cabinet picks, mass deportation and terminating constitutional amendments, we will have to wait and see how it all pans out.
Join us on Friday as Todd and Trygve broadcast from Seattle in preparation for Sunday’s Packers game!

Civic Media Spotlight for Weekend of December 7th, 2024 (Hour 1)
Kicking off this hour, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Wisconsin's own Ben Wikler to discuss his bid for Chairman of the National Democratic party and the reasons he believes the Democrats did not see the results they wanted in November.
Then on UpNorthNews Radio, Ron ‘Duff’ Martin, an Eau Claire teacher who serves on the executive board of the National Education Association, talked about how this week’s overturning of Act 10 by a court can play a role in improving public education in Wisconsin. There will still be appeals of the ruling that strikes down former Gov. Scott Walker’s signature law that gutted public employee unions in the state in 2011, but Martin said if the final outcome is the reinstatement of collective bargaining rights, then unions will be able to negotiate working conditions that will help retain teachers and address worsening shortages, especially in rural districts.
On Matenaer On Air this week, former assembly candidate and county party volunteer Emily Tseffos joined the show to discuss what the Democrats need to do post election and the conversations that need to be had. She also speaks about the conversations that need to be had between voters and what keeps us connected and not divided. Emily also speaks about what needs to happen on the county party level with regard to long range planning for future elections.
The hour wraps with a segment from the Maggie Daun Show, where Maggie shares her takes on the news of the week that a county judge has ruled certain portions of the 2011 Act 10 unconstitutional and what is likely to come next in the battle to return collective bargaining rights back to public sector unions.

We start the show with a visit with Pat Kreitlow. The former longtime TV anchor weighs in on the massive losses to local news coverage at Channel 9 and stations in Eau Claire and La Crosse this week. Brittney Merlot with us to talk about the frigid weather and when it will break. Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez signals she will run to become Democratic ranking member of the House Oversight Committee. That would be fantastic in our eyes.

Happy Saddle Up Day with Pat Kreitlow (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here to sift through the week’s news with Todd! Trygve Olson normally joins us, but he has to appear tomorrow instead.
This morning, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s parent company was murdered in New York City in what is likely a targeted attack. We will provide updates as they are released. In other disturbing news local to Wisconsin, the Allen Media Group has let go a significant portion of local news staff at stations like WKOW. This is only the latest in a trend of local news operations being downsized and shut down by large corporations.
In other news, Todd received an email from a concerned fan. According to Humans United for Multiple Protuberance Sensitivity (HUMPS), referring to Wednesday as “hump day” is discriminatory toward certain types of camels. Hump day is named for the single-humped dromedary camel, while the two-humped bactrian camel is left out. Listen in to learn more about the plight of the bactrian camel.
December 4th is National Cookie Day! Take some time to visit your local bakery for some delicious sweet treats.
