Pam Jahnke
Can We Spy On You Guys?
John, Gordy, and Sam kick off their Friday show a bit sleepy, so they talk Public Sleeping day and the rest of the National Day Calendar. We chat with Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report about frozen federal funds for state creameries, and after the break jump into Idiocracy. Today we're talking some breaking Idiocratic news: Russia is working to rebuild a network of spies, under the cover of diplomats (you can't make this stuff up!). We listen to a rant from Texas representative Jasmine Crockett calling on Trump to tell the truth about Russia invading Ukraine, and also to Bill Burr comparing Musk and Hitler. (a cut we played yesterday with some naughty words in it, now taken out.) The guys touch on Musk's effort to take over Verizon's contract with the FAA, a bit of collusion between SpaceX and it's oversight agency, no? Wrapping up the show, we get the Daily Show's take on Trump's Gold Card, and also hear a speech by Representative Melanie Stansbury, angry at King Trump, with a distaining comment by MTG.

Weekly Best of John and Gordy Show for Feb 22
This week on John and Gordy the guys put the teletype to good use, with a constant flow of news. Featured here is Friday's Big Story, all about Musk's descent into madness, as he wielded a chainsaw. We hear from Pam Jahnke, the Fabulous Farm Babe, about the upcoming National Cheese Competition in Green Bay, and later, hear our full interview with Mike McCabe this week, about his upbringing on a farm, and the difficulties, but community found in it, as well as advice he has to help struggling farmers: a return to FDR-era agricultural regulation.

Government: You Can’t Trust the Government
Its Friday! John and Gordy kick off with a look at the National Day Calendar and a conversation about root beer floats, before welcoming on Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report to chat up and down about cheese. In Idiocracy, we get Stephen Colbert's latest take on the continuing destruction of the government, and hear a slip from Christie Noem, who now claims we shouldn't trust the government. Closing out hour one, John and Gordy take to the skies, talking about DOGE's next targe: NOAA.

My Valentine
Its Friday! John manhandles the show away from Gordy this Valentine's Day, going on a tirade against the "fake holiday," luckily, we calm him down with some real fake holidays on the National Day Calendar. We call up Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report, and chat about the state of snowmobiling in Wisconsin, and also get an update on the latest in the egg shortage. Later, we dive into Idiocracy, talking about a neo-Nazi protest in Ohio (and, thankfully, a larger counter-protest), and discuss all the Inspectors General being fired by Elon Musk. Closing out hour one, after a long drought, we get another edition of MAGAs Say the Darndest Things, this time about voter fraud.

Save Your Pennies
John and Gordy kick off the week reflecting on the weekend's events, including the Super Bowl, Gordy's appearance at the Frozen Assets Fest, and the musical Shucked! at the Overture. After checking through the National Day Calendar, the guys chat with Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report, chatting about commercials last night during the Big Game, and a system of registration for hobby farm owners, now that bird flu is taking hold. Later, in Idiocracy, the guys talk pennies, with the news that Trump is ordering production of the one-cent piece to cease (!). Also, we touch on Illinois Governor JD Pritzker's (fake) proclamation claiming Lake Michigan for his own state, and wrap up the hour hearing of an interesting plan by Jamie Raskin to start a class action suit against Elon Musk.

Broligarchy
John and Gordy kick off the week recapping the Grammys, with a rant from John on the death of country music. We get into the National Day Calendar, and talk Today in History with Sam before welcoming on Pam Jahnke to chat about a citizen science weather program going into place, and a renewed push by Senator Baldwin to have an AM radio in every car. In today's dose of Idiocracy, the guys talk Broligarchy, the hostile takeover by tech bros and billionaires of the US government. We take a trip back in time to a year ago, when Musk predicted last week's airline crash, blaming DEI for everything (big surprise). Continuing on the topic of demonizing DEI, we hear from (dumb) Senator Eric Schmitt, making a word salad of excuses for doing away with "the new N-word."

I’ve Lived Here My Whole Life!
John and Gordy had the opportunity to fill in for Maggie Daun on the network yesterday, which they were glad to do, but resulted in massive sleep deprivation this morning! In the midst of their crazed hallucinations, they manage to cover the National Day Calendar and Today in History, before chatting with Pam Jahnke about the wild warm weather we've been experiencing. They chat about how the tariffs planned to be implemented tomorrow may impact farmers, and mention that Green and Gold, the movie, will be premiering today! Later, we get into Idiocracy, talking up and down about fighting for democracy, in the place we've always called home. The guys chat about CESA, a department created by Trump, which he is now directing to stop all efforts combatting mis- and disinformation, and wrap up the hour mentioning the rising number of conspiracies and scapegoats being blamed for the airline crash.

Cold as ICE
After a long weekend of collecting stories, John (and Gordy) start out the show with a rant on how we're now living in a dictatorship. We chat with an early morning caller about the brave new world we're living in, before distracting ourselves from reality with the National Day Calendar. We chat with Pam Jahnke about how the weird winter weather is affecting farmers here and elsewhere, and also hear about this year's Farm Dog of the Year, Sirius. Later, we dive into a series of stories for Idiocracy, ranging from the late-Friday night firings of several Inspectors General by Trump, Denmark's response to the US wanting Greenland, and wrap up the hour talking about the scary and illegal ICE raids now taking place.

Contraception Begins at Erection
We should have taken the same strategy as yesterday, putting John in a straightjacket, as the first words out of his mouth are about Trump, welcoming J6 rioters, now pardoned, to the White House. After quelling that, we chat about the spooky happenings at the station lately, then dive into the National Day Calendar. The guys chat with Pam Jahnke, discussing the use of cheese brine to salt roads, and also a new GPS based invisible fencing system for cattle. Leaving the farm, we drift into the land of Idiocracy, today discussing a Mississippi bill that would criminalize masturbation (but is really meant to call attention to women's rights abuses), as well as Trump's justification for pardoning violent criminals. Wrapping up the first hour, we cover a story out of Milwaukee, about a Packer fan halting a Bears player from doing a Lambeau leap.

Losing Our Marbles
John and Gordy kick off the week reminiscing about when they lost their marbles. We're all going to lose our marbles today, as #47 is sworn into office. To distract ourselves, we take a look at the National Day Calendar, and also chat with Pam Jahnke, the Fabulous Farm Babe, to hear how the cold weather is affecting farmers. Later, in today's dose of Idiocracy, the guys chat about how the inauguration was moved indoors, hear about proto-DEI in 80s, from In Living Color, and then dive into TikTok, which was killed, then recussitated over the weekend.
