Breaking The Backbone Of America (Hour 2)
In the second hour, Shawn Phetteplace from Main Street Alliance is here to talk about how much our small business owners are feeling the crushing grip of new tariffs being enacted by the president. We also talk about a town hall where a certain congressman was invited, but chose not to appear. For today's installment of Audio Sorbet, thanks to Ben Affleck, we ask; what was the thing you wanted, that your parents made you work for, to get? And with our new time, we need to celebrate, so here is the gift of This Shouldn't Be A Thing - Next Round's On Me Edition.

Extreme Market Instability Hurts All Of Us (Hour 1)
President Trump’s flip-flopping on tariffs continues to throw our country and the world into chaos. Small businesses and big box stores alike are already beginning to raise prices or shut their doors. We at The Todd Allbaugh Show are not financial advisors, but if you have the means, we do recommend making any larger planned purchases sooner than later. Stocking up on staples like canned food and toiletries may also be a good idea to get ahead of anticipated price increases.
At the bottom of the hour, Main Street Alliance’s Campaigns Director Shawn Phetteplace joins us to explain the impact of these tariffs on small business owners and consumers alike. Trump is changing his tariff policy nearly daily, causing extreme volatility and destroying the ability for business owners to plan ahead. Even if Trump’s latest 90-day tariff pause sticks, the 10% base increase is enough to potentially bankrupt businesses and cause a recession.

Weekly Best of Todd Allbaugh Show for Dec 21
From Wednesday's show: Why We Can’t Just “Move On” From 2020 (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here! At the beginning of the show, Todd brings us the latest updates on Monday’s shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. Investigations on the shooter’s family suggest a broken home life, but as Pat reminds us, there are broken homes and strained relationships all around the world. What other countries don’t have is America’s wide access to firearms.
From Thursday's show: Why We Should Expand Badgercare (Hour 1)
At the bottom of the hour, we are joined by Shawn Phetteplace, the Campaigns Director of Main Street Alliance! He tells us all about Main Street Alliance and how it differs from other organizations like Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce. While WMC primarily supports larger companies, MSA seeks to prop up a more diverse range of small businesses. They are part of what makes Wisconsin great.
Wisconsin is one of only ten states that haven’t accepted new federal funding to expand Medicaid over the last ten years. One of MSA’s current objectives is to help convince our state government to do the right thing and support Badgercare. This directly hurts small business owners and employees in our state.

Why We Should Expand Badgercare (Hour 1)
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Nearly every single county in Wisconsin is under some sort of Winter weather advisory. Todd updates us on where the biggest storms are headed and what driving conditions are like. Almost all roads around the state are under ice and/or snow, so drive slowly and safely!
Recently, a Dane County circuit judge struck down significant portions of Act 10. However, yesterday afternoon, this decision was put on hold while GOP legislators are working to appeal the case. It’s not over until it’s over, and this ruling is very much up in the air.
In other news, Todd has found himself agreeing with Republicans! This doesn’t happen often, but this time, it has to do with allocation of funds for UW schools. Once again, Jay Rothman and the UW Board of Regents are operating in secret, and it sure looks like they’re choking out our university system.

There are now two candidates running for the post of state Superintendent of Public Instruction and neither of them are political conservatives. We’ll review the current field. And we’ll talk to Shawn Phetteplace from Main Street Alliance about small business priorities for the next session of the Legislature, especially the need to expand BadgerCare to bring stable healthcare coverage to more working families.

We welcome Civic Media Meteorologist Brittney Merlot to talk about Hurricane Milton, Summer in October and the new terminology on cold weather warnings. The California Landowner, Eric Hovde is back and he has so many opinions! From lead pipes to not living in California (he does), it's time to listen to the good ol' multimillionaire. Next, we're discussing the next referendum on our ballot and we advise you vote "no", but please read for yourself and make up you mind. Then we have some news about the former president and his gift to Vladimir Putin and all the times he's chatted on the phone with the dictator, which is a no no.

Opportunity Out in the Country (Hour 2)
The Rural Democracy Initiative worked with a coalition of dozens of groups to lay out a roadmap of policies that could renew America’s rural communities and help the country with some of its big challenges. We’ll talk to two Wisconsin individuals from Main Street Alliance who played a part in the new 2023 Rural Policy Action Report about improving the rural economy and the lives of the people who live there.
