Navigating Optics In State Politics with Pat Kreitlow (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here! First, they recap last night’s Badgers basketball win and talk about concessions at college sports games.
This morning, Israel and Palestine have finally reached a ceasefire agreement including release of hostages. Todd and Pat celebrate this development, hoping it takes effect as soon as possible.
In Wisconsin news, it looks like Governor Evers may be gearing up for a shot at becoming “Three-Term Tony.” He has also unveiled efforts to establish a new violence prevention office. It seeks to address the root causes of gun violence in our state. Todd and Pat discuss the pros and cons of this approach. While they agree that these problems need attention, Todd thinks the optics are detrimental. He’s concerned that this office will be too easy to paint as “yet another office full of bureaucratic red tape.”

Civic Media Spotlight for January 11th & 12th (Hour 1)
On the Dom Salvia Show, Dom, with cohost of the day Jim Santelle, talks with Jack Kelly, statehouse reporter for Wisconsin Watch on the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Read Jack's most recent piece on the current and potential future status of the state's highest court here. With a current 4-3 liberal-conservative population and a liberal justice retiring, April's election will decide whether the current balance maintains or tips to the conservatives.
Then, on John and Gordy In the Morning, the guys talk with Pam Jahnke about the premiere of Green and Gold, the new movie shot in Wisconsin about the Green Bay Packers.
Next, on UpNorthNews Radio, Assembly Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) and new state Sen. Sarah Keyeski (D-Lodi) discuss the opening of the new session of the Wisconsin Legislature. They had big hopes for bipartisan progress, now that fairer maps have made the Assembly and Senate more representative of Wisconsin voters. But Republicans have spent the week rushing to pass a voter suppression measure and even stripping away Democratic seats on committees.
Wrapping up the hour on the Maggie Daun Show, Maggie talks about one of her New Year intentions, not resolutions, of playing more. Maggie shares some of her favorite board games and takes calls and texts for recommendations about what games she can work into her intention to play more in 2025.

Voter ID Doesn’t Have To Be A Boogeyman (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and now that everybody has returned from their holiday vacations, we have our usual guests! Trygve Olson will join us next hour, but Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here off the top to help rein in the chaos. After addressing California’s disastrous wildfires, they discuss the first action by Wisconsin’s State Senate: a ballot initiative to require voter ID. Notably, this is already the law of the land in our state.
Todd has a unique perspective on this, as voter suppression is the very issue that pushed him to leave the Republican party. While he isn’t a political consultant, Todd offers some free advice to the Democratic party. He believes that they shouldn’t push against this bill as hard as they are. Ultimately, voter identification isn’t a bad thing. The issue lies in accessibility. If Wisconsinites can easily acquire their ID for free and register to vote, then there is no issue. Meanwhile, if Democrats block this legislation as a whole, it makes it easy to claim that they don’t want to protect against voter fraud. Listen in to hear Todd’s take!

Zuckerberg Crumbles (Hour 1)
In a not too stunning and absolutely un-surprising move, Meta founder and free speech warrior, Mark Zuckerberg announced changes for his company regarding free speech, fact checking and how he wants to get back to "the roots" of why he started. All this, of course being junk and just his excuse to suck up to the incoming president. We then welcome Pat Kreitlow, host of UpNorthNews Radio to the show to talk about the new session of the Wisconsin legislature, as well as why people aren't moving to Wisconsin.

On UpNorthNews with Pat Kreitlow, the electors who decide each presidential election gathered in state capitols this week, and one of Donald Trump’s Wisconsin electors, former Gov. Tommy Thompson, said it’s time for everyone to “turn the page” on Trump’s fake electors plot to steal the 2020 election. Pat Kreitlow responds: Hell, no. Trump can pardon in federal cases, but state cases like the one in Wisconsin need to keep moving toward justice for the voters.
On the Earl Ingram Show, Earl is joined by John Diedrich from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to discuss his article regarding a woman who's son accidentally shot himself in the hand with her gun. Weekly Best of Todd Allbaugh Show for Dec 21
From Wednesday's show: Why We Can’t Just “Move On” From 2020 (Hour 1)
It’s Wednesday, and that means Pat Kreitlow of UpNorthNews Radio is here! At the beginning of the show, Todd brings us the latest updates on Monday’s shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. Investigations on the shooter’s family suggest a broken home life, but as Pat reminds us, there are broken homes and strained relationships all around the world. What other countries don’t have is America’s wide access to firearms.
From Thursday's show: Why We Should Expand Badgercare (Hour 1)
At the bottom of the hour, we are joined by Shawn Phetteplace, the Campaigns Director of Main Street Alliance! He tells us all about Main Street Alliance and how it differs from other organizations like Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce. While WMC primarily supports larger companies, MSA seeks to prop up a more diverse range of small businesses. They are part of what makes Wisconsin great.
Wisconsin is one of only ten states that haven’t accepted new federal funding to expand Medicaid over the last ten years. One of MSA’s current objectives is to help convince our state government to do the right thing and support Badgercare. This directly hurts small business owners and employees in our state.
