T-Shirts, Tariffs, and Tension (Hour 2)

May 7, 2025

John and Gordy kick off with playful jabs at dating advice and fashion faux pas—tucked-in T-shirts being a prime culprit. They shift to heavier topics like the FAA's staffing woes, linked to Sean Duffy and Elon Musk's mishaps. Talk of tariffs leads to Mattel's overseas manufacturing, raising questions about economic policy. Mike McCabe shares insights on rising wealth inequality and political frustration, while Judy Davidoff highlights local journalism challenges. The segment ends with a nod to the Community Immigration Law Center's efforts amid immigration tensions.

Schooled on Movies and the Paper

April 17, 2025

Its a busy hour two! We've got more talk of Harvard, now standing up to the Trump administration to kick things off. In a break from politics, we get the inside on the outside, weather we like it or not, with Brittney Merlot, and chat with some callers before the bottom of the hour. Later, we welcome to the show Cara Ogburn, Artistic Director of the Milwaukee Film Festival, to talk about some of the movies showing in brew city over the next couple weeks. Wrapping up the show, we chat with Judy Davidoff, publisher of the Isthmus, about some of the stories in this month's issue.

Weekly Best of John and Gordy Show for Mar 15

March 15, 2025

This week was a fun one with John and Gordy (amidst the insanity!). On this week's best-of, we hear their segment from Friday detailing Elon Musk's car show at the White House, before moving to an Elvis-centric episode of Today in History from Thursday. Later, we hear the bulk of the guys' conversation with Mike McCabe this week on symbolism, and passionate advocacy for positive political change, as well as our monthly chat with Judy Davidoff, publisher of Isthmus, chatting about what's in the latest issue.

They’re Coming for Your Social Security

March 13, 2025

In hour two, the guys dive back into yesterday's topic of DOGE's efforts to privatize Social Security. We listen to a long clip of Representative John Larson, giving an impassioned speech calling on his fellow representatives to make congress show some spine against the overreach of the executive branch. We take a look away from our computer screens and peek outside, checking on the weather with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot, and later, walk through some poll numbers. They show, on all the major issues, that a supermajority of American citizens don't support the policies and efforts of the Trump-Musk administration. Wrapping up today's show, the guys welcome on Judy Davidoff, publisher of Isthmus, to chat about some of the big stories in this month's issue.

Pour’n Yer Heart Out

February 11, 2025

In hour two, the guys dive forward, looking to the future, with words from George Conway, about how he thinks the effective end of democracy and our constitution will come about, when the time comes that Trump and US Marshals stop adhering to judge's orders. With their faces usually stuck in microphones, they take a look outside to see what our meteorologist Brittney Merlot has brought to the skies - snow! And more to come. At the bottom of the hour, we touch on how the dismantling of USAID is already impacting farmers, and later, we shift gears completely, welcoming in Alisa Toninato from FeLion Studios to chat all about iron casting. This weekend, she's hosting Pour'n Yer Heart Out, an art casting event open to the public, where over 2,000 lbs will be melted down and poured into community-made molds. Closing out the show, we give a call to Judy Davidoff, publisher of the Isthmus, to chat about some of the stories in this month's paper.
