Numbers Don’t Lie

March 6, 2025

It's almost the weekend! Tom Palzewicz, the most reasonable guy in politics, joins Maggie as her guest host. They dig right in with Prof. Charles Franklin from Marquette University. He's got a new poll, and it turns out, voters really haven't learned as much as they need to know going into the spring election. Only four weeks to go...It's coming up on April 1. Check your voter registration and/or voting precinct by visiting https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/. And overall, Wisconsin independents aren't super excited about what they've seen from Trump or Musk so far.

He’s Actually a Tinpot Dictator

February 12, 2025

Director Marquette Law School Poll and Prof. Emeritus UW-Madison, Charles Franklin joins Maggie to discuss the new Marquette Law School poll. Charles notes that a substantial majority support some of President Donald Trump’s early initiatives. There's an equally substantial majority that oppose other policies, and those divisions don't necessarily follow political lines. You can see the results of the poll here: https://law.marquette.edu/poll/.

Maggie also discusses where Trump's policies are actually coming from. Turns out, money does talk. When it comes to corruption, Trump cozies up to dictators, fascists, and gives away the keys to democracy to the billionaire overlords. Trump is a tinpot dictator, and America's oligarchs are now in charge.

The Riddle of Wisconsin

October 15, 2024

What is up with Wisconsin? The state that brought us the labor union and five day work week, the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment, the state once known as the "laboratory of democracy," has also brought us Joseph McCarthy and Scott Walker, and has become one of the most closely divided battleground states in the country. How did we get here, and how does what has happened here in this state reflect larger trends in American politics--a harbinger of what is to come, or how we can fix it?

Civic Media Spotlight for Weekend of October 5th & 6th (Hour 2)

Today, Judge Tanya Chutkan unsealed significant portions of the filing, outlining how and why Donald Trump ought to be prosecuted for his role in fomenting an insurrection on January 6th, 2021. Matt Rothschild joins Dom to break down the legalese! Here's the unsealed document for your reading pleasure.

Is Trump an Authoritarian – let’s look at the playbook (Hour 1)

September 13, 2024

Professor Charles Franklin goes over the latest Marquette Law School polling. This latest sample was taken before the debate but gives a good picture of where Wisconsin is trending.

US Rep. James Clyburn is one of Maggie's heroes. He calls in to remind everyone about Joe Biden's 50 year career of committing to help people of color as well as the US people in general.

NYU Professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat is an expert on Authoritarianism. It turns out that Trump and his plan seems to be following the Authoritarian playbook to a T. The lies, the racism, the spite is all part of the fascist way.
