Alan Borsuk

Civic Media Spotlight for January 4th & 5th (Hour 2)

January 4, 2025

To begin the second hour this weekend, John and Gordy, of WMDX's morning program the John and Gordy Show, talk with Jim Santelle about being an intern at the White House in the summer of 1980 during the Carter administration, and how his presidency is unjustly overlooked.

Then, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Alan Borsuk, Senior Fellow in Public Policy at Marquette Law School, to discuss the issues facing Milwaukee Public Schools. Earl and Alan talk about the politics of how the state funds education, how mismanagement led to the current problems, and the path ahead for the district.

After that on the Dom Salvia Show, Dom and cohost of the day Earl Ingram discuss the desperate need for elder leaders to pass the torch. With the average age of a US Senator being 68 years and a distinct lack of youth voices in politics, it's no wonder young people didn't turn up to vote. We need elected officials who represent AND resemble their constituents.

We close out the weekend with a segment from WGBW and WISS's morning program, Maino and the Mayor. The guys talk about this day in 1967 when the famed Ice Bowl took place in Green Bay. The Packers beat the Cowboys, and the goalpost came down. We visited this great memory with several guests, including former reporter Tony Walter. He shares many great stories based on that day in his book "Ice Bowl: The Game That Will Never Die."
