Announcer

Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.

This is Night Light with Pete Schwabba.

Your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.

And now, a guy whose house has an actual wiggle room, Pete Schwabba.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Welcome to Night Light, ladies and gentlemen.

Happy fluffernutter day, everybody.

It is National Fluffer Nutter Day, and I just thought that would be something good to open with.

I will elaborate and I will tell you what a fluffer nutter is at some point in the next few minutes.

So you'll want to hear that because it affects and inspired tonight's question of the night.

Great to have you with me.

a little bit of a chilly Wednesday night here in downtown Green Bay, but beautiful weather all over Wisconsin as I understand it.

And I hope you had a great day.

Whatever you did today, join us now and take the stress of the day off your plate.

Let's just talk about movies, music, comedy, Wisconsin, TV, you name it.

We're gonna talk about it tonight.

We'll talk a little Cubs and Brewers too.

I assume

I assume Conrad that people that are listening to this show right now and not watching or listening to the game would like updates.

OK.

But if they're fanatics, and that is a real word, they're probably watching the game.

But they might, if they're not, if they're like, well, we'd rather have a few laughs with Pete and Conrad's banter.

You know, maybe they would just appreciate an update.

That's

Announcer

all I'm

Pete Schwabba (Host)

saying.

So what are we looking at right now?

Conrad (Contributor)

It's four to two at the top of the sixth.

The burrs are losing right now.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Okay.

And as a Brewer fan, I assume you're following the game on some level.

What is your inclination telling you in regard to the vibe tonight, if you will?

Conrad (Contributor)

Honestly, it feels close, but it's just our starting pitcher didn't have a hot start because he gave up four runs in the first inning.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Your pitchers have given up runs in the first inning all series.

It doesn't seem to matter.

Conrad (Contributor)

Yeah, I guess the bats just aren't as hot.

They're still going.

Just not as hot.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Well, we'll see what happens.

We'll keep you guys posted, but we love that you're here with us, too.

So we're going to have a lot of fun tonight.

I have two great guests.

A fun question and some good talking points for the show.

Tonight, recently, I read this article about a woman.

I have her name.

What was her name?

She lived to be 117 years old.

Her name is... Her last name was Banias.

Maria Banias.

Banias.

Maria Banias.

She lived to be 117.

And they did research on her body.

She passed away last year.

And they did all this research about her health and why they think she lived so long.

And I don't mean to be agist, Conrad, but 117 is old.

I would say let's get up there.

You're not restocking shelves at the mart when you're 117.

You're not driving a truck.

as they say.

That's old.

But she had a very young internal body, I guess, because she was so healthy and lived so long.

So that inspired me.

I thought, I got to call my friend Sherry Stoker.

She is a nutritionist and dietitian and founded Wayless MD outside of Milwaukee.

And they do great work there, helping people get in shape and pick out a plan that works for them.

And I thought, hey, I would love to have you on and discuss why this woman lives so long and what her secret is.

And we'll discuss that with Sherry at 6.35.

Among other healthy tips you'll get every time Sherry is here.

She's always a blast to have on the show.

And then we are running the gamut, folks.

A little fantasy football talk in hour number two.

How does that tickle your fancy?

The great Pete Von Doran will be here.

Doesn't it sound like he should be great?

Peter Van, when you have three names like that and

Announcer

Van is in the

Pete Schwabba (Host)

middle, it sounds like, like Kramer was Dr. Martin Van Nostrand.

That was his alias he always used to use.

So Peter Van Doran, I love that name.

It's a guy who knows about fantasy sports, even though he's based in reality.

So Pete will be here in studio.

We'll talk about fantasy football.

I am a very casual user of fantasy football.

At best I dip my toe in I the most I was ever in was three leagues.

I don't think I checked my roster once Yet I've won won twice purely by luck over the last 15 years this year I'm only in one league But if it's something you haven't done Pete might have some good information for you Or if it's something you do, you know, you might pick up a tipper here or there from Pete as well Conrad I'm sure we'll be in on that Conversation as well.

How many leagues are you in this year?

Six that I really keep track

Conrad (Contributor)

of

Pete Schwabba (Host)

And then a couple other, they're just kind of for fun.

Conrad (Contributor)

A couple others that I just wanted to draft in the beginning of football because I was antsy.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

But what does that mean?

Then you just don't check?

You don't care?

Conrad (Contributor)

Well, no, I just I do a quick lineup change at the beginning of the week.

You can do that on ESPN and I don't look at it again until next week.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Oh, OK.

All right.

Well you and Pete can have a nice talk and I'm gonna kick back and have a cup of coffee and

Conrad (Contributor)

watch you

Pete Schwabba (Host)

guys.

I am curious.

I want to know what he has to say because I could probably put a little more effort.

I know it drives my son crazy that I don't try harder.

It's not that I'm not interested in it.

I do like fantasy football.

I just it's like the last thing in my priority list.

So if I'm struggling or not getting something else done, fantasy football is the first thing to go, unfortunately.

But maybe Pete will motivate us.

So Sherry Stoker 635, Peter Van Doran at...

720 in studio ladies and gentlemen, maybe we'll get a window pick out of Pete,

Conrad (Contributor)

huh?

Here we go

Pete Schwabba (Host)

check out our window picks folks if you go to Facebook We post a nightlight window love every night window fun.

We find is some unsuspecting Sap out on Washington Street.

I'm kidding.

Everybody's been great I've only heard I've had two turndowns when I've asked people if I could take their picture and put them in the window and then post it on Facebook and They were one after the other it was like and those are the only two that said no

And it was in the same night.

It was bizarre.

So anyway, Pete is a very tall.

What do you think, Pete?

He's a tall dude.

Conrad (Contributor)

Yeah.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

You think he's six and a half bills?

Conrad (Contributor)

Yeah, definitely.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

You at least six six?

Conrad (Contributor)

I feel like six and a half bills, you know.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

You think you could take him?

Conrad (Contributor)

In regards to what?

Pete Schwabba (Host)

You don't know what that

Conrad (Contributor)

means.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Kind of like such a nice guy.

He doesn't even want to go there.

See, you're stocky.

You got that muscle.

But Pete's tall and Pete's no slouch himself.

I think he's in the military.

Yeah, so

Conrad (Contributor)

Yeah, I could take him in fantasy football.

I think

Pete Schwabba (Host)

okay You probably could but then again, he's our expert.

So let's defer to Pete.

He's our fantasy football expert for tonight at least So actually folks I led the show off by saying this is national Look at the word again fluffer and utter day.

I thought that sounded kind of obscene

There's a lot of letters and word combinations in there, letter combinations that make it sound kind of strange.

It's actually a sandwich.

It's a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich that is kind of big on the east coast, I guess.

And I know I've heard about it over the years.

I've heard that term fluffernutter.

Make me a fluffernutter.

But I never knew really what it was, but I looked it up last night.

And that inspired tonight's nightlight question of the night.

Conrad (Contributor)

Let's talk about the question.

Okay, question.

Question.

Question.

Pregunta.

Question.

Question.

Okay, I have a question.

Questions.

This question.

Domanda.

Question.

Question.

Questions.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

What, in honor of National Fluffer another day, what is a food you've never tried but would like to?

What is a food you've never tried but would like to?

eight five five seven five two four eight four two eight five five seven five civic let us know where you can text us on the app or if you're watching the radio on the stream at youtube facebook or x you can drop us a stream comment and if you're on any of those platforms feel free to give us a like or a follow um i'll go first do you have one ready i do all right why don't you go first con well i actually have two i do too

Conrad (Contributor)

okay

Pete Schwabba (Host)

look at that

Conrad (Contributor)

yeah the first is is beef wellington

I've never tried that and it looks interesting, huh?

I think I'd want to try a Gordon Ramsay one

Pete Schwabba (Host)

I Don't know if I've ever had that either come to think of it beef Wellington.

Conrad (Contributor)

It's like beef wrapped in like Bread or something like that and there's lots of onions on it.

I like I don't know the full details of it But it looks tasty

Pete Schwabba (Host)

like a cocktail weenie and jello.

Is it the same type of

Conrad (Contributor)

dynamic?

If you ever look a picture of a beef Wellington, it's huge

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Okay

Conrad (Contributor)

And then the next one is a Spagomlet.

You don't need to eat

Pete Schwabba (Host)

that.

We had t-shirts made for the Spagomlet.

That was the line that Eric Price ad-libbed in the Godfather Green Bay.

Go to Bart Starr's restaurant and get a Spagomlet.

Half spaghetti, half omelet.

It's awesome.

Conrad (Contributor)

You know, I was curious.

So I looked up what a Spagomlet actually is.

Did

Pete Schwabba (Host)

you find

Conrad (Contributor)

something?

What it is, it's like...

a mixture of leftovers made into like not like a hot dish where it's like a casserole kind of thing but it's like an omelet kind of structure and it looks instead of egg it's it's um it looks like spaghetti noodles in that form I don't know

Pete Schwabba (Host)

but it's not spaghetti noodles no it is but like

Conrad (Contributor)

there's leftover stuff in it

Pete Schwabba (Host)

It sounds like, like hangover, gross.

Conrad (Contributor)

It doesn't sound good.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

And I'm sure that's where Eric came up with it.

So I am looking at beef Wellington here.

It does look delectable.

The beef looks good.

And obviously it was created by Steve Wellington, who tripped one day and dropped his beef in a thing of bread and he came up with beef Wellington.

All right.

So Conrad says beef Wellington and a Spagomlet.

I'm going to say caviar.

I've never had caviar.

I'm not really a caviar kind of guy, but I've been to enough parties that were kind of swanky and They offered it and I just I never took it and I don't know why Because that used to be the go-to food when you were talking about rich people food And is it whale eggs or octopus eggs?

Fish eggs, some kind of fish eggs.

I just it just never appealed

Conrad (Contributor)

to

Pete Schwabba (Host)

me

Conrad (Contributor)

and Thinking about it just doesn't why is it so sought-after fish eggs.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Yeah, I'll have a Kerner burger with a side of caviar

Okay, the other thing is a fluffer nutter.

I think I actually think that sounds pretty good Marshmallow and peanut butter.

It is you've had one.

Conrad (Contributor)

I've had it.

Yeah,

Pete Schwabba (Host)

where'd you get it?

Made it myself You made a fluffer nutter in the home.

Yeah So what did you do by like is it marshmallows like out of a can you sir a jar that you squeeze or something?

Conrad (Contributor)

Have you ever had that like the marshmallow like paste kind of thing like probably freaking like

It's like in a peanut butter can pretty much.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

OK.

Conrad (Contributor)

And you just put it on each side.

And I want to stuff further and put bananas in it, too.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

Now, that sounds very good, actually.

Conrad (Contributor)

It was dynamite, but I don't think I'll ever have one because I looked at the facts.

You know,

Pete Schwabba (Host)

it's not good for you.

Conrad (Contributor)

I

Pete Schwabba (Host)

mean,

Conrad (Contributor)

just I'd rather just have a PB and J and just call it a day.

Pete Schwabba (Host)

PB and J and hit the rack.

All right, so there you go, folks.

Let us know what is a food you've always wanted to try, but just haven't yet.

I'm very curious to see what people come up with.

I gotta tell you what is really driving me crazy lately.

I went to get moisturizer last night.

I was at Walmart in Marinette, and I needed moisturizer.

The Walmart in Marinette has locked up the moisturizer.

Not even like the designer moisturizer like my wife buys.

I get like $6 bottle moisturizer with some SPF.

Locked up last night at Walmart at 9.30 at night.

Are people stealing equate facial moisturizer?

Well, they must be.

Everything was locked up.

Face wash.

But there's stuff that's like much more valuable just out there on the shelves.

I don't understand that.

If any of our listeners, if there are any couch potatoes out there that are Walmart employees, please tell me why they are locking up the cheap moisturizer.

It wasn't even worth it.

I'm like, I'm not going to get a store employee to unlock.

I just wanted to get home.

I'd gone there straight from here and I went to the gym and I just, I wanted to go home.

So I have no moisturizer today because Walmart locks it up and I lost my patience.

You moisturize can read

Conrad (Contributor)

yeah,

Pete Schwabba (Host)

do you

Conrad (Contributor)

a little bit here and there

Pete Schwabba (Host)

yeah, I do it every day I didn't today.

I use my wife.

I use the good stuff today, but I I found that strange I don't think that is that a problem in America are people ripping off cheap moisturizer All right guess I'm on an island here Okay, so Sherry Stoker is coming up at 635 Peter Van Doran with some fantasy football talk at 720

And when we come back, I'm going to tell you another thing that really irritates me, and it involves GPS.

We'll do that next.

It's Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Pacific Media Radio Network.

Pete Schwabba

Welcome back.

I'm Pete Schwabba.

This is Nightlight.

A fun, fun, fun till our daddy takes the Teebert away Wednesday night here.

Great to have you with me.

We are talking about the Fluffernutter.

That's our question of the night, folks.

It's National Fluffernutter Day.

What is a food you've never tried but would like to?

So are you are you giving me like the steel sign?

Are you telling me there's the phone calls not there anymore?

Call back, please call or we hate missing calls here I have to tell you this drove me crazy and I wrote a note and I kind of forgot about this because the last time I was in Madison I was on the west side.

I had no idea where I was and I'm using my GPS in the car and it says turn southwest out of the parking lot Who know like

That's ridiculous.

I don't know where I am.

I don't know which direction is south or west.

I'm not like one of those people who can read the coordinates of the sun and tell where I am.

It's like I just want to get back to the highway.

So who do I complain to about that?

I don't know.

And the best thing to do is like if your GPS steers you wrong as it does sometimes just pull out onto the road and then it'll tell and then when you know what road you're on.

But the parking lots are crazy.

Turn Southeast.

OK.

No idea.

Hey, we have a winner, folks, to the Go for the Green and Gold Civic Media Multistate Text-to-Win Contest.

It's Dennis from Minakwa.

He listens to Civic Media on WCQM.

He is the grand prize winner.

That's exciting.

And you know what he's gonna he's gonna rake it in on that gas money because that's like a what a two-hour drive three-hour drive So he really cleaned up there congratulations Dennis and thank you everybody for playing that was such a fun contest.

We'll do it again soon The other thing is the uber you sent me this and I literally just seen it I was gonna do a Hollywood beat about it, but some guy set the fire in Pacific Palisades that what do you think a sentence like that should be like I don't know if they determine like will he end up

Don't know did he end up killing somebody because of that or just ruining homes like what it'll be interesting to see what they do and what kind of sentence you get from that like Millions and millions of dollars in damage people's lost homes and memories.

Is that a life in prison situation?

I Mean you kind of think about isn't that kind of arson?

What's totally arson?

I mean absolutely, but I mean like I just wonder how stiff

If this guy gets like five years of probate.

Hey, don't do that again It's not gonna be that but I mean yeah, it should be something something I'm not a death penalty guy anyway, but like that should be You you purposefully set a fire that takes out an entire neighborhoods That should be a question 20 20 years 20 years Yeah

Maybe more.

The guy's obviously nuts.

Who does that?

I'm going to set a fire and ruin people's lives.

How many homes were lost is just wild.

I mean, Pacific Palisades is huge.

And that's where the Will Rogers Park was.

I was talking about the other night on the show that we used to take our kids to all the time.

The Will Rogers Museum was there.

That's gone.

Just horrible.

So that'll be interesting.

I wonder what somebody would get.

Like, what kind of punishment for that?

There you go.

All right.

We are going to read some text here.

We got our social media responses.

We post our question of the day every day on Facebook, folks.

So you can find the question there if you can't listen to the show.

We'll still read it.

Conrad leading things off.

Beef Wellington.

I did not put my response on social media today.

I don't know why I didn't do that.

Daniel Wheeler.

Daniel Wheeler says it's a toss up between caviar and human.

Okay.

Let's maybe start a file on Daniel, FBI, if you're listening.

That's a great answer.

Mike Desitel says, sounds like a porn hub, job description.

That's what I thought, Mike.

I thought it sounded kind of obscene.

Eric on Facebook says, oh, I know what this is.

We just talked about this last week.

Surstromming.

That's the guy that ate something and puked and couldn't wash it out of his system.

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to try that.

He says so I can cross it off my culinary bucket list and because it would probably be funny making a video where the smell of something like that gives me the dry heaves.

Yeah, I think My pal Vince Moranto says I've actually never tried a fluffer nutter me either Vince That's what I said.

That's one of my two.

That's one of my two foods the fluffer nutter So I am I'm totally with you A great movie opening up this week to folks roof roof man

Starting Channing Tatum and Kristen Dunst.

And this is based on a true story.

A war veteran rips off McDonald's by going in through the roof.

And it's getting very good reviews.

All the big openings this weekend on the big screen are getting good reviews.

So I might go to two or three movies this weekend if we get them all in Marinette anyway.

But that one sounds like a really good one.

I was excited about that.

Going to the stream, Sydney Politics says a foodie would like to try but hasn't yet.

A hachapori.

It's a Georgian dish that is a cheese-filled bread with an egg on it.

Please look it up.

That sounds amazing.

Look at Sydney giving us homework.

Georgian meaning America or is that like a Russian thing?

I don't know.

probably Georgia.

It sounds like a southern kind of thing.

Sydney also says, I beat Dave to the comments.

Yes, you did, Sydney.

Very friendly rivalry with the emoji to follow.

I love it.

In just a few minutes, folks, Sherry Stoker will be here.

She's a nutritionist and a dietitian and the founder of Wayless MD who will join us here at 635.

We're going to talk about how one woman

live to be 117 and Sherry has lots of other great health tips, always so much fun to talk to.

So we'll have Sherry on over the stream, Peter van Doren talking fantasy football at 720, changing up the subjects tonight, folks, we're going to cover a few different bases.

In the 217 says I want to try peanut butter soup.

Interesting.

I think that's good.

Like, I love like spicy peanut noodles like

I bet there's a really good soup like that.

That's ENSA from Madison sent that text.

All right, we're coming back.

We'll read your texts.

We're having a lot of fun here.

Great to have you here, folks.

It's Pete Schwabba in Nightlight.

We'll be back after the news on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wow, but this is nightlight.

Culver, or I'm sorry, Culver.

Tyler on the text line, he's in the 608 says, the Culver's Curder Burger, refer to my poem from last night's question of the night.

Yeah, that's not on my list of things to try.

And then we've got, here's Jameson in the 814 says, a peanut butter and pickle sandwich sounds terrible, but is the best combo.

All right.

You pregnant, Jameson?

That sounds like one of those crazy combinations.

Tonight's question, folks.

What is the food you haven't tried yet that you've always wanted to?

It's National Fluffer Nutter Day.

Conrad's tried one.

I have not.

That's on my list, as is Caviar.

But right now, let's turn this... This kind of goes hand in hand with our first guest, because she is a dietitian and a nutritionist, and also the founder of Wayless MD, just outside the great city of Milwaukee.

And we'd love to talk to her about all things health.

She joins us now on the stream.

Sherri Stoka.

Hey, Sherri.

Hello.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

How are you?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Good.

It's good to see you.

How are you doing?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

I'm good.

I'm good.

You can see I have my friend with me.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Who is this?

Who is this friend?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

This is Gigi.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Okay.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

She's my she's my little mini Dalmatian.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Oh, very cute.

Is it a

Sherri Stoka (guest)

puppy?

No, she's gonna be actually she's gonna be four next week.

She's I yeah, no, she's just small.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So

Sherri Stoka (guest)

You know, they have minis now of everything and I just happen to get a small Dalmatian.

Pete Schwabba (host)

I know I'm asking this, I know what the answer is going to be, but do you feed your dog as nutritionally as you feed your family or yourself?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

I totally do.

I'm like totally crazy.

I actually just ordered something for her.

heard like dental care and I received it today looked at the ingredients put it back in the bag and submitted return like I'm like this is craziness so yeah I do

Pete Schwabba (host)

why what was it like high fructose corn syrup or something what was in it

Sherri Stoka (guest)

no there was parabens which are like known to be like endocrine endocrine disruptors that just like destroy metabolism

Pete Schwabba (host)

and then there

Sherri Stoka (guest)

were also preservatives in it

Pete Schwabba (host)

yikes

Um, and I, I think I know where you're going to weigh in on this too, but I wanted to ask you our question last night was how do you feel about the Curder Burger?

You know, here in Wisconsin, Culver's kind of rules and Culver's is great.

They have this Curder Burger.

Have you heard of it?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

No.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Okay.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Well, I mean, I've heard of Culver's and I know that they're famous for their burgers, but I've never, I've never really dove deep into like

the, you know, the ingredients and the nutrients, macronutrients and things like that.

Pete Schwabba (host)

All right.

So here's what happened.

Culver's put out this joke of a burger that had a big flat patty of a cheese curd in one big flat patty on top of a huge burger.

And they called it the Curder Burger and people went to Culver's and found out it was a joke and they were irate.

So Culver said we better make the Curder Burger a real thing.

So they did.

And now people, you know, I would say about half and half was our response last night.

We got half the people that said it's the best thing ever and half people said I don't even want to see it.

But you should Google it.

I would love to know.

I kind of know.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Well, what would you want to know?

Because I already would be able to respond.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah, I haven't tried it either.

I just have seen the pictures.

Oh, I

Sherri Stoka (guest)

mean, just the taste of it.

I mean, anytime you mix like terrible fats, dairy, meat, you know what's going to taste good, you know, they put.

oils in there.

Yeah.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Like you eat really well.

I mean, do you ever have like in your moments of weakness?

If you have them?

What do you eat?

Do you do you binge and you say, What the hell?

I'm getting nachos Belgrondi or do you go I'm going to make a healthier junk food at home?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Exactly.

Pete Schwabba (host)

I

Sherri Stoka (guest)

make a healthier junk food at home.

I find a way to get like my desserts.

I

find ways to satisfy sugar cravings in a totally healthy way.

And that's where it's like, I'm not the norm, I think for sure, because I work with a lot of dietitians as well.

And a lot of dietitians struggle with their weight.

I don't know.

I'm definitely, I've always kind of been like, I mean, I haven't

I have not always had a healthy diet and things like that, but I've learned over the years.

And now, as I get older, I just, yeah, I find different ways to just satisfy what my body is craving.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Real quick, what would you do?

Because I just gave up, I didn't give up completely, but I'm doing a new thing like I always am.

And sugar, I want out of my life.

specifically processed sugar.

But also, what do you do, though, to eat healthy and satisfy that sugar craving?

Is there like a banana?

What is there?

What can we eat that might help us do that?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Well, I have like my famous concoction.

Oh my gosh.

Okay, so I do.

So you can get like really healthy, clean protein powder that has healthy ingredients and it has like natural sweetener, but they will put maybe a little stevia in there.

You know because protein powders are kind of like the wild wild west just like everything else like you have to find the right one because otherwise it could be Just as damaging as everything else, but a really clean protein powder with a I do I love nut butters.

I love cashew.

I love coconut You know, I don't I don't love almond butter things like that, but some people do and then I'll do

you know like on like a nut yogurt and it's like it's honestly like a dessert i'll mix it all i'll blend it and i'll eat that like either in the morning or i'll eat it like late at night if i like if i really want something sweet that's kind of like my go-to but um the one quick protein bar that i just i don't know i found i don't think it's terrible and just a little bit is like satisfying is the um

Oh my gosh, now I'm blanking on it.

It's the, what is it?

It's the egg whites.

They call it, I can't believe I'm blanking

Pete Schwabba (host)

on it.

Is it the company that makes like the peanut butter cups and they're supposed to be low carb?

They have like two net carbs?

No,

Sherri Stoka (guest)

I don't think so.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm blanking on it, but it's like.

they have like they're known to have like three ingredients in the protein bar and it does have some at it has a lot of added sugar but everything is else is really clean and I'm more about the cleanness of a product versus if I get a little extra sugar I'm fine with that because I like I work out a lot but it's more about the process stuff I think is what's really destroying people

Pete Schwabba (host)

yeah

That's good advice.

Shari Stoka is my guest.

She is a nutritionist and a dietitian and the founder of Wayless MD.

Where can people find out more information about Wayless MD, Shari, outside of the

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Google?

Yeah, I mean, we have a website, you know, we're all over social media.

I have, I do a ton of talks and webinars and radio.

WaylessMD.com is our website.

And I mean, you know, nowadays you can really just kind of like

put it in your search and it's going to lead you to who knows where.

Pete Schwabba (host)

All right, so I explained earlier to listeners, I always want to have you on the show, but this article in particular really got to me about this woman who lived to be 117.

Her name is Maria Brownes or was Maria Brownes.

She died last year.

I don't think it's ageism if I say that's pretty old.

That's a pretty good run.

Do you, I mean,

What are you just off the top of your head?

You must, as a nutritionist or dietitian, think, oh, she took care of herself.

Oh, she didn't eat this.

What did you think?

Did you happen to take a look at the article?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

I did.

Pete Schwabba (host)

OK.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Yeah, I

Pete Schwabba (host)

did.

So we could break it down a little bit.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, because you do kind of have to break it down a little bit, because it's never one thing, right?

Right.

It's kind of like, how much toxicity are you going to allow in your body?

And you know, when I was reading the article, the first thing that caught my attention is that she was born in San Francisco and she moved to Spain.

So I don't know.

We all know about European food versus American food.

There's no comparison.

What we allow in our food system in America is nowhere near.

what is allowed in European countries.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So

Sherri Stoka (guest)

she had the advantage right off the bat there.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Right.

I love what she says.

She claims her longevity was due to order, tranquility, good connection with family and friends, contact with nature, emotional stability, no worries, no regrets, lots of positivity, staying away from toxic people.

That all sounds great.

That's not very scientific, I would say, but

I think we could all do better with that.

But some of the researchers, the research team detected signs of aging.

They also found that she had genetic characteristics associated with neuro protection and cardio protection, as well as low levels of inflammation.

Can you explain that a little bit?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Well, I mean, the first thing that I want to go back to is the things that she said, order tranquility, because I wrote this down like my notes

too.

tranquility, emotional stability, no regrets, positivity, avoiding toxic people.

We have gotten so far removed from the basics of human health.

That is the basics of human health.

Like people don't realize that every time you are in a situation that stimulates the nervous system, that causes

the parasympathetic, sympathetic responses, inflammatory responses.

That's just as bad as eating McDonald's every day, you

Pete Schwabba (host)

know,

Sherri Stoka (guest)

not eating at night.

All of that takes a toll from from a cellular level.

And that is how they heal disease back in the day.

We're just as humans in the modern world are so far removed from that.

So like, if you did those, nobody does this anymore, right?

Go back to it.

Nobody does this.

We're in a stress state at all times.

We're constant like social media.

Forget about it.

Yeah, it's stimulating this stressful situation.

We want to be better.

We got to say we got to we got to meet all of these demands.

Every people that are negative that are like drama.

I mean, those people I feel bad for.

Pete Schwabba (host)

And there are people like that that that's how they get their dopamine.

they they and I don't even know if sometimes if they know they're doing it it's just like a reflex almost

Sherri Stoka (guest)

it 100%

Pete Schwabba (host)

yeah and I like I agree with what she said I didn't mean to dismiss it but I'm also like well that's hard to do like

I don't know what kind of life she had, but yeah, I could sit out in the country.

When I sit on my porch in the morning of coffee, I feel amazing, you know, and then you get into the day, then I got to go to Twitter and track down a friend.

And the first thing that comes up is all stuff they know is going to piss me off.

So it's like, you can't get away from it, it seems like.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Well, you know, see, I'm not going to go down the spiritual realm with you because, you know, we all have lessons to learn in our lifetime.

Sure.

And sometimes it just takes, it takes time.

for us to kind of like collect and gather different things that are gonna help me ensure that we are living our best life.

And you know, like you and I both, like everyone that's listening to this, we've all endured like extreme stress and you learn from those situations, right?

So you learn from those situations, you make it better, like you start to set boundaries.

And you move in a direction that that doesn't put you in that chronic state of stress at all times.

So, you know, it, it's just, it's, it's complicated.

Yeah.

But I feel I do, I absolutely feel like just the little things that we can be doing.

It's like, I have a family and I like look at my family and I'm like, this person just sucks my energy.

This person is

gives me peace.

Like, that's what we should be surrounding ourselves.

Right.

You know, what people that and not only people, but just like foods that make us feel good.

Yeah, we're kind of a little removed from that.

Pete Schwabba (host)

All right, we're gonna do a very short break.

We'll come back for a few more minutes with Sherry Stoker.

I'm gonna ask her about inflammation and what the researchers found.

And then we'll get into.

Oh my God, I got so much to ask you Sherry.

Thank you for being here.

This is fun.

We're coming right back.

It's Nightlight with Pete Schwabba on the Civic Media Radio Network.

SPEAKER_??

Every day is the next hour.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Welcome back.

This is Night Light.

I'm Pete Schwabba, broadcasting live from beautiful downtown Green Bay statewide.

Wherever you're tuning in from, it's great to have you tonight.

My guest is Sherri Stoka.

She is a nutritionist and dietitian and the founder of Wayless MD.

Check them out.

They will help you lose weight and get healthy.

What's that like, Sherri?

You must just beam when you have someone come in and they leave six months later, a year later, or whatever, and they feel like a totally different person.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

I mean, absolutely.

I was put on this planet to help heal, serve, you know, I mean, and a big part of all of it is helping people understand kind of just sift through just the nonsense and understand the truth of like what is really going on.

I think that's like even more so kind of a big passion of mine is

putting information out there for people to like take a step back and think like oh my gosh yeah like I need to stop doing what I'm doing because that is hasn't worked for 20 years and I just were continuously told certain things and we keep doing it right so yeah so we we I am very proud of of what I've created because um we treat people

The way that they need to be treated and we're all about healing the body It's all about healing the body so that the the weight loss can be you know, like long-term

Pete Schwabba (host)

What you know when when it came to Maria Brandius and the researchers they said she had a very low level Well the two things I'd like to hit on that she had a very low level of inflammation in her body And I know that you and I have talked in the past about I never feel better than when I'm fasting and I can tell

how much better I feel because the inflammation goes down.

How important to life longevity is low inflammation?

And how do you get it?

How do you stop inflammation?

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Yeah, I mean, well, inflammation is everything.

So every, okay, not every, because you can never say every, but almost every single disease.

that someone gets, it starts with inflammation and inflammatory process.

Because the inflammation, if you just think about it, if you injure something, you injure like your hand or your arm and you have like short-term inflammation and the body comes and heals.

It is now in this day and age, we have chronic inflammation.

So the damage is always there and the immune system is always trying

to correct and heal.

And so if we're constantly doing things that are sabotaging our health, we are exacerbating kind of that inflammatory response, that inflammatory condition.

So if you're more prone to get autoimmunity, if you're more prone to get cancer, if you're more prone to cardiovascular, it's all about the immune system in the inflammatory process because they work.

They work hand in hand.

So it's basically like the more inflammation you have, the quicker your disease will manifest.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wow.

And I think the last time we spoke, you said carbs will do carbs enhance inflammation or certain kinds of carbs.

Like I feel like when I'm on a lower carb, when I'm not eating as many carbs, I feel better too.

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Yeah.

Well, again, let's go back to the standard American diet.

So if you eat real whole grains, real, like in Spain or in Paris, that is a very different story.

But in the United States of America, our carbs are no longer carbs.

They're stripped of all the nutrients.

They're stripped of the grain.

they're they're they're absolutely inflammatory so that's why like in America we have to be low carb because you can't really find whole grains anymore unless you're like baking baking your bread at home and doing all that sort of things you cannot find good grains

Pete Schwabba (host)

anymore.

We've talked about in the past gut health too and another thing in this article They said she had ate a lot of yogurt in her life and had very good gut health I don't eat a lot of dairy and my wife eats a lot of probiotics and yogurt and I would love to get the benefits of that First of all talk about how important gut health is and also how do you how do you get those probiotics like this?

Maria Brandius did if you don't eat dairy yogurt

Sherri Stoka (guest)

Well, again, you're not getting any probiotics in the standard American diet and you're not getting any probiotics in dairy in the United States.

Everything is processed.

So if you go, if you were to go to a farm and like, so I live in Florida part time and I go to a farm and I get their natural yogurt and it is full of healthy probiotics.

Here it's

stripped, it's pasteurized, it's heat treated, you don't get anything.

And so when that article, that's why the article can be somewhat deceiving, because dairy here is terrible.

It's awful.

And now it's like, oh my gosh, people are probably thinking, oh my gosh, I need to eat yo-play.

I mean, yo-play is probably one of the worst foods ever, right?

Sargento cheese is poison.

And so this is kind of like the message is food was designed to nourish us and keep us healthy, but now it doesn't because it's a commodity.

It's all about the money.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Wow, that's fascinating.

And we have about 30 seconds and we have to do the news.

Can you stay for a few more minutes after the news?

I would love to ask you about how we get hooked on drugs from...

Doctors and pharmaceutical.

I know that's a passion of yours as well.

But how is this something that people like?

Well, let's do the news and we'll come back.

I don't want to rush these questions.

I'm getting education here.

I

Sherri Stoka (guest)

got

Pete Schwabba (host)

time.

All right.

Fantastic.

Sherry Stoker is

Sherri Stoka (guest)

here.

Conrad (news anchor)

Conrad, I think we need an update.

What's going on?

The Brewers, it's three to four against the Cubs right now.

The Cubs are winning.

My Cubs are going to make it a series.

Maybe.

There's still time left in the game.

Pete Schwabba (host)

I couldn't care less.

All right, we're coming right back, folks.

Sherry Stoker's going to stick around for a few more minutes.

She's the founder of Wellness, Wayless MD, a great outfit.

You should definitely check out.

And we're going to talk about the pharmaceutical industry a little bit and some more gut health.

And I'm going to ask her if she's binge watching anything too.

We'll do that as well.

It's Peach Wabbit and Nightlight.

We're coming back for EC2 after this on the Civic Media Radio Network.

SPEAKER_??

you

Pete Chihuahua

Broadcasting live from the Civic Media Studios in Green Bay.

This is Night Light with Pete Chihuahua.

Your inside source on everything entertainment from Wisconsin to Hollywood.

And now a guy who prefers to travel by catapult, Pete Chihuahua.

Hey,

Pete Schwabba

welcome back

Pete Chihuahua

to Night Light.

Pete Schwabba

Great to have you with me With as we kick off act two here.

We will be back to our guest Sherry silka in just a moment We are talking health nutrition Longevity living a healthy life and we will continue to do so.

We'll keep Sherry for just a few more minutes Pete van Doren is here That's a cool name Conrad.

We've established

Sherry Stoka

Peter van Doren sounds

Pete Schwabba

very important And yet he's here to talk about fantasy football, but that'll be fun at 720

If you missed hour number one, our question of the night is, in honor of the fluffernutter, it is National Fluffernutter Day.

That is a sandwich with peanut butter and marshmallow.

It's nothing obscene.

It's supposed to be a very tasty sandwich.

I've never tried one.

But our question of the night is, what is a food you've always wanted to try but never have?

So let us know.

We also talked about, I went in to get moisturizer last night at Walmart.

It's locked up.

Yeah.

It's equate.

It's $4 a bottle.

I don't get this expensive stuff that my wife, I don't need it, it's locked up.

You know how hard it is to find a Walmart employee at 10 o'clock at night to get my crappy moisturizer?

It's ridiculous.

Conrad's not watching the game, you can listen to me.

He's like trying to let me see you're not watching the game.

You know what, I'm done, I don't care, we're going back to

Conrad

Sherry.

Pete Schwabba

We have lotion talk from time to time with Dr. Kristen Leiser.

We talk about Lube and Lotion.

She's a doctor.

All right.

My guest folks is Sheri Stoka.

She is a nutritionist and a dietitian and she is the founder of Whalus MD.

Check it out.

They do great work there.

Sherry, we were in the middle of talking about gut health, and you said you can't get good probiotics here in the States.

So what do we do?

I mean, this woman who lived to be 117, the researcher said one of the things that kept her going was she had really good gut health.

She ate yogurt.

If we can't get that in the United States, I assume you can go to what, Whole Foods and get some good yogurt?

What do we do for gut health, especially if we're not huge dairy fans?

Sherry Stoka

Yeah, well, you have to eat real food, right?

So probiotics and prebiotics come from fruits, vegetables, definitely dairy.

I mean, so we should be able to get it through our food, but we don't because our food is highly processed.

And when you process a food, you kill all of the live organisms and all the things that provide the nutrients for our gut health.

So typically, I mean, you definitely need to

try your best to eat a whole foods diet, but now there's a lot of different supplements and powders and things like that that we're constantly working with people on to feed that healthy gut bacteria.

The gut is foundational to human health.

It's foundational to your brain.

It's foundational to your hormones.

And again, the standard American diet is what is

the the cause of really a lot of all these chronic diseases.

Pete Schwabba

That is just what is it better?

I know people who keep the weight off, but they eat crappy food.

And then I know people who are a little overweight and eat pretty healthy.

If you had to choose, what's what is it better to do?

Carry extra weight and eat healthy or not carry any weight and eat not so healthy.

Sherry Stoka

I mean, it all comes down to your metabolic health.

So you could have somebody who's gonna get away with eating like completely unhealthy foods, they're genetically whatever they're just thin.

And looking at the full picture, they're not gonna live very long where you can have a, you know, someone with a higher BMI and maybe, you know, they're eating healthy, they're metabolically, they're solid.

And, and so that's where you have to take it to the next level because it's not just about, it's not just about the weight, but I feel like, you know, weight loss, I'm actually starting this whole transformative mission to try to reshape the future of like weight management and help people think differently about it because I mean, we have got to stop talking about calories and we have got to stop talking about, oh, just exercise more.

So I mean, it's more complicated and we've, we've just

gotten a little, we've gotten far removed from like the foundational things.

And like, I thought your article was so relevant because those are the foundational things like we need to sleep at night.

Okay, that's a big huge thing.

We need because that's going to regulate your hormones.

Like, so it is though, it's those things that do go a long way.

Pete Schwabba

Alright, so in our email exchange earlier today, you you said also

The the healthcare system is kind of broken and they they're designed to get every human on drugs.

So How do you other than I mean assuming people don't have the time that you do to educate yourself because this is what you do?

What do we do?

We trust our doctors for the most part.

Sherry Stoka

I mean

Pete Schwabba

we have to take this on ourselves though, don't we?

Sherry Stoka

I know that's that's that's the hard part because I always say, you know

empower yourself, don't just go into an appointment.

And if the doctor is like, oh, you have high cholesterol, let me put you on this, ask questions.

Be prepared before you go in.

And if a doctor is quick, they don't even ask you any questions, they're quick to put you on just another medication and compounding medication after medication.

You know it's time to really look in the mirror and start thinking about how do I do this?

You know, like lifestyle medications are lifestyle medications.

They're given to you because of your choices.

And whether you know it or not, which most people kind of do, I mean, I've been in the business long enough to know that people know what they're doing wrong.

What I will say is the problem with it is the food has hijacked our biochemistry and our neuroplasticity, like you were talking about.

It has hijacked that.

And so now we're not we're addicted.

It's kind of like crack cocaine.

It's kind of like telling someone, okay, I know you're addicted to crack cocaine, but we're going to put you on a regimen to kind of get off of the crack cocaine.

So I mean, I'm like, I know that sounds harsh, but it's the reality.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, it doesn't crack is a great way to keep the weight off.

Alright, so before we let you go, Sherry, I want to ask you, you mentioned, where's my

I have another question for you, what did I do with it?

Okay, one thing, give us one thing we should avoid, food-wise.

If you never could eat anything again, what should we avoid if it's just one thing?

Sherry Stoka

Can I say two things?

Pete Schwabba

Yeah, of

Sherry Stoka

course.

All right, I'm gonna say soda and pizza.

Pete Schwabba

I had a feeling you were gonna say soda.

Pizza, really?

Conrad

Okay.

Sherry Stoka

But

Pete Schwabba

why?

Because of the combination of carbs

Sherry Stoka

and meat?

All the terrible stuff.

All the processed terrible stuff.

Now, if you were to make it homemade, and you get fresh cheese, and you're eating real meat, like again, it's just, it's, it's not about food is not supposed to be bad.

This is, this is the whole point.

Like, we're not supposed to be killing ourselves with food.

It's

what has happened to our food supply in the United States of America?

Pete Schwabba

Wow.

Well, this has been an education as usual.

Thank you so much.

Are you binge watching anything?

You must watch TV.

You must get nutritioned out and dietitianed out and you just veg out at night ever and watch something.

What do you binge watch?

Sherry Stoka

I mean, I am a learner.

I love to learn.

I like love it more than I wish I could take like a month off and just

Listen to stuff.

Wow TV wise.

I don't like I don't I Don't watch a lot of TV.

I because I don't watch the news.

So I will I'm a Okay, I am a light.

I am a hallmark junkie.

I like everything positive.

I'm like, I love the love stories.

I like graze anatomy.

I love the medical stuff like I love like I graze anatomy was like my favorite.

Conrad

Yeah.

Sherry Stoka

And, um, and my kids play soccer in college.

So now I'm like, I'm like, I have it on pause right now.

I'm going to watch my kids game from last night that I went to yesterday.

I'm like, such a sports kind of junk.

Pete Schwabba

Are you breaking down tape for your kids?

Sherry Stoka

Well, I know I'm watching it because when I'm at the game, I'm so stressed and I can't even enjoy it.

So now, so now I'm like, I'm going to watch it in a relaxed state because I already know, I already know the

Pete Schwabba

outcome.

That's relaxed.

And that is I have, if you like medical dramas, I've only seen a couple episodes, the pit on HBO is supposed to be like, I mean, I think it won the Emmy for the best TV

Sherry Stoka

show,

Pete Schwabba

medical drama, check it out.

And it's the least I could do for all you've shared here with us tonight.

Thank you so

Sherry Stoka

much

Pete Schwabba

for your time.

As always, my friend.

Sherry Stoka

Thank you so much.

Pete Schwabba

You're very welcome.

Sherry Stokey.

This is Sherry Stokey.

Check out WaylessMD, folks.

Give it a Google and see what she can do down there.

She's very knowledgeable as you just found out.

So Conrad, score update?

This is still the same

Conrad

score.

Four three?

Four to three Cubs.

Pete Schwabba

What are we looking at?

What ending are they in?

Conrad

Top of the ninth, I believe.

Pete Schwabba

Oh, wow.

All right.

Well, we got some, you know, we got some sports talk coming up with our buddy, Peter Van Doren.

is gonna be here shortly.

It's gonna be here in studio.

I'm very excited.

And we gotta get to some of our texts.

Our question of the night is what is one food you've always wanted to try, but have just never gotten around to it, but you still wanna try.

And we'll start here at the bottom.

Oh, we got a lot of texts we gotta get to.

Okay, so Everett from Sun Prairie and the 262, or he's in this, his phone is in the 262, says Pete.

I was a cook for many years and had the good fortune to try a lot of foods that aren't terribly common.

One thing I always thought looked oddly delicious but haven't gotten to try is a Cambodian street snack fried tarantula on a stick.

Conrad

Yeah, I don't know about

Pete Schwabba

that one.

Mouthwatering.

And when I mean mouthwatering, I mean the bile that comes up right before you puke.

Every continues, especially if the dipping sauce is good.

I know it's weird, but since when has deep frying not made something finger-looking good?

Well, that's kind of the problem.

Remember the Kentucky Fried Chicken sandwich last night with the two chicken patties around lettuce or something?

It was terrible.

It

Conrad

was two chicken patties.

And there was cheese in the middle of it.

I

Pete Schwabba

feel like called the double the KFC double or something

Conrad

like the double double or something double double stack.

Pete Schwabba

Yeah.

Thank you, Everett.

That's great.

Steve from Florida Conrad's dad checking in says a must to try as we talked about last night is the Culver's Curder burger.

But the dish I also wanted to try was the Beverly Hills Billy's Granny Clampett's famous possum stew.

Yeah, that

Conrad

sounds gross to Steve.

Pete Schwabba

I

Conrad

don't that's something you want to try dead.

I don't

Pete Schwabba

little possum soup on the side of your Curder burger.

I think your dad's trying to

leave this earth.

I hope not, Steve.

That's a great text, though.

Ross from Crawford County says a few beers after a few beers, I might try pickled pigs feet.

Oh, that's gross.

You ever see that in the supermarket?

No, it's just check it out.

You'll probably hurl.

Paula Conrad's mom says I have never tried a fluff or nutter, but it sounds like a mellow cup with peanut butter.

Oh, that's interesting.

Yeah.

They had it was so weird at our local grocery store in Marinette.

They had this they took all the candy out and it was all mellow cups And I didn't even thought of the mellow cups since like 1982.

I didn't know they still made them and they had a whole Display of them.

This is in Marinette like three four years ago.

Mm-hmm Thanks, Paula

Jameson did we read Jameson's text here's a Brett from the 920 says a blue banana Yes, they really exist and Kobe beef He said Colby beef, I think he meant Kobe beef that's

Conrad

like Colby Jack cheese Colby beef That's not a thing is it?

Yeah, I think he

Pete Schwabba

means Kobe Kobe beef is good.

I would try a blue banana

Tyler from the Wisconsin Rappers, do we read that one?

Yeah, it's probably one of us to read his poem again from last night.

Let's see, we'll get to the rest of your texts, folks.

Coming up next, though, is some fantasy football talk with our pal, Peter Van Doran.

He is gonna be in studio, and we will talk all things.

Fantasy, it's Pete Schwabba in Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

SPEAKER_04

Network.

I really wanna see you

Pete Schwabba (host)

I'm Pete Schwabba.

Great to have you with me.

It's Wednesday night, folks.

The game is dwindling.

We're probably going to get some some some.

Pass over from the game.

Some runoff, if you will.

Yeah, the game ended.

The game ended.

Yeah, the burgers lost.

You would have.

I figured they lost because I thought you'd be going crazy if they wouldn't.

I'm surrounded by Brewer's swag and a tire here.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

They had the bases loaded.

It just didn't come through.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Did they really in the ninth in the eighth?

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Wasn't it the eighth?

Pete Schwabba (host)

Yeah, the way the series is gone if you would have told me the Brewers had the bases loaded with No outs or two outs I would have said they're gonna get a run home right because it's just the way the Cubs have been playing.

Yeah.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Yeah.

Yeah, it's the momentum of baseball

Pete Schwabba (host)

though.

It seems you know, I'm sorry boys I'm glad the Cubs are making a series as a cub fan.

That's all I can hope for at this point because I just think the Brewers are

You don't know what you could do.

Hey, that's the voice of Peter Van Doran.

Welcome, buddy.

Hey, thank you.

You work here at Civic Media and at WGBW.

I do.

Tell us what you do here before we get into your other area of expertise.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

I'm an account executive.

I'm a multimedia specialist, if you will, because now in addition to radio promotion, we do have a variety of other ways that we can help to promote businesses.

We have a full.

of digital marketing solutions.

Pete Schwabba (host)

We're

Pete Van Doren (guest)

also rolling out a new program here in Green Bay that we've had going on in some of our other markets throughout the state called Big Deals.

And it is really catered to entertainment and hospitality industry type businesses.

So if you have a coffee house or if you have a restaurant or a popular nightclub, it is a way for us to help promote you with, you know,

little outliner of cash.

Pete Schwabba (host)

Stop the sales pitch.

I'm in.

How much do you

Pete Van Doren (guest)

need?

SPEAKER_??

Yeah.

Yeah.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Well,

Pete Schwabba (host)

that's kind of cool.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Yeah.

So it's a lot of fun.

Pete Schwabba (host)

So it's a lot of

Pete Van Doren (guest)

fun.

So I've been really busy up here lately meeting with a lot of, you know, our neighbors,

Pete Schwabba (host)

which is always cool.

So that's a good area too.

There's a lot going on downtown here.

I would imagine just a good starting point.

But yeah, definitely.

Green Bay was a great place to be for that kind of stuff.

So for sure.

Well, you're here tonight to talk about fantasy base or fantasy football.

We talked about fantasy baseball last summer.

That was fun.

Yeah.

And we thought we got to do football.

So is this your like

Is this your side hustle?

Just a hobby?

You just love fantasy sports?

It's really kind of a passion for me.

Yeah.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Yeah, it's a passion that keeps me very busy.

I think I'm in.

six leagues right now.

All right, it's two.

Yeah, two of them are cash.

I was in a third cash league that sort of merged with the league I run.

Coincidentally, so now we have a bigger league with, you know, more of my friends and family.

So how much do you like?

How much do you spend on fantasy?

How much I don't really spend a whole lot.

I mean, I think told this year I have maybe.

$60 invested in

Pete Schwabba (host)

my buy-ins

Pete Van Doren (guest)

for leagues.

Okay.

Pete Schwabba (host)

I

Pete Van Doren (guest)

mean, you can go a lot more than that, right?

Depending on what your 40

Pete Schwabba (host)

is

Pete Van Doren (guest)

depending on what you're

Pete Schwabba (host)

He's in for four grand I think I'm in for about 200 if 200 bucks 250 I think that's yeah, and he's in six leagues to see I the league I had 20 bucks and you just settle up after the but it's my son and his friends and it's just fun

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Yeah, yeah,

Pete Schwabba (host)

I would kind of feel like a jerk if I won the whole thing because I'm the only adult

And I don't pay attention as much as I should, so that's why I'm glad you're here for some inspiration.

So in the event that there are people who haven't tried fantasy football yet, how would you convince them to give it a try?

Give me a selling.

Give me your sales guy.

Give me the

Pete Van Doren (guest)

pitch.

Yeah.

Well, so, you know, fantasy football is really, um, an elevation of your enthusiasm and excitement with watching the NFL season,

Pete Schwabba (host)

right?

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Um, you know, you, you don't have to cheer against your favorite team.

You don't have to cheer against your favorite players in the Green Bay Packers or the Bears or

Pete Schwabba (host)

wherever,

Pete Van Doren (guest)

you know, you may

Pete Schwabba (host)

have you ever

Pete Van Doren (guest)

done that.

I have never cheered for the Bears.

No,

Pete Schwabba (host)

no, no.

I mean, like, have you ever cheered like it has a fantasy outcome ever outweighed your love for your team?

Pete Van Doren (guest)

No, no, because I think that you have to at times you kind of have to like really bite your lip on it and you you you just sort of hope that like certain outcomes will happen.

Right.

Yeah.

Like it's it's OK that Jordan loves throws those four touchdowns as long as you know he doesn't like.

get one in the final two minutes or something, or as long as like the Bears defense can get a couple of sacks in on it, they'll be

Pete Schwabba (host)

able

Pete Van Doren (guest)

to still get my roster there.

So

Pete Schwabba (host)

where needs to be for that week?

When you're doing a draft, I know they have people ranked on their points, but what is a good position to start with?

I would assume quarterback, but I know there are some other darlings.

Alvin Camero for a few years was like a big point maker.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

So so with fantasy football, you know, really, there are certain positions that have a little bit more scarcity, right?

Yeah.

And, you know, those are good positions, especially if they're sort of like an upper echelon of players, they're clearly above the rest of the rest of the players of the position to sort of hold priority in those.

And that doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to like, you know, take them early in your fantasy draft.

But just that you kind of keep an eye out and make sure they don't slip too far before you have one.

Right.

But with fast football, you know, really.

There's kind of a lot of debate lately as the league becomes a little bit more past, past heavy, um, about, you know, whether you should take like a receiver or a running back.

Yeah.

Uh, running backs tend to be a little bit more scarce position because really the nature of running back is evolving to a lot more committees.

And with fantasy football,

Pete Schwabba (host)

like a two guy punch.

Yeah, exactly.

Exactly.

Yeah.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Yeah.

Kind of like, you know, kind of like what the, the Packers have with like A.J.

Dylan and,

Pete Schwabba (host)

um, and the Lions have right now with David Montgomery.

Yeah, exactly.

Pete Van Doren (guest)

Exactly.

Exactly.

So, so finding like a workhorse running back is few and far between.

Okay.

And you could do, you could do just fine with, with the right NFL team roster.

Yeah.

That would have, you know, two players that are highly productive at the running back position.

But with that being said, the, you know,

volume is really king with it.

I

Pete Schwabba (host)

mean, you're going

Pete Van Doren (guest)

to find a lot more success with a guy that's just getting like a lot of carries.

Pete Schwabba (host)

You're going to find a lot more.

Let's pick up there.

We'll do the news.

We'll pick up there because I want to I got a lot of questions for you.

All right.

Pete VanDoren is here, folks.

We're talking fantasy football.

We're coming right back after the news.

It's Peach Waba and Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio Network.

Host

Welcome back to Night Light.

Happy Wednesday, everybody.

I know it's not a happy, a totally happy Wednesday for Brewer fans, but join us for the last half hour.

Let's have a laugh, talk some fantasy football, and I'm saying this as a, as a Cup fan, I would not be worried.

Yeah.

If I were, I mean, I just don't see it happening.

I don't see it happening for the Cup.

The Brewers are...

This year, they are a better team.

There's no question about

Peter Van Doren

that.

Yeah, the Cubs had a good start.

They got after a really hot start, strong hair line up, and then they just really went dormant until the last, you know, few weeks.

But that's kind of Cardinals' model sometimes.

Sometimes that's actually brought the Cardinals to the series.

Host

They're an organization that really ticks me off because they shouldn't be as good.

Like, they're always competitive, it seems like.

Maybe not this year as much, but like, I mean, they're a good organization, but they really bother me because they...

Maybe it's because they're good sometimes.

Put that like half effort into it all year and then kind of turn it on.

Yeah.

That's

AJ from Madison (caller)

not

Host

where I was going, but OK.

Yeah.

AJ from Madison, she's in the 608 says you should have taken the day off and watched the game Connery attempted.

Conrad

Just a

Host

little bit.

If you had tickets, you might have.

Conrad

Yeah.

Host

Yeah.

AJ continues and says would make a great sports broadcaster person or whatever.

Who me?

AJ from Madison (caller)

Are you talking to me, AJ?

That's nice.

Yeah, sure.

I would take that gig.

These guys make a serious bank.

Yeah.

Right?

Yeah.

Take some Uker money.

Host

There you go.

Peter Van Dorn is here, ladies and gentlemen.

He works here at WGBW.

He's also a fantasy sports fanatic.

And he's very good at it.

He takes it very seriously.

And we're talking fantasy football with Pete here.

So I asked you what position you start with.

when you draft.

Do you have a rule or do you kind of let the board fall to you?

Peter Van Doren

I do kind of let the board fall to me, but I really have a preference for running backs, maybe almost to a fault at times, you know, with just how much I, you know, I'm really trying to get a running back in that first round or two.

But, you know, I mean, sometimes I'll take a receiver.

It just really kind of depends on who's out there and how I sort of like evaluate and value these players.

you know, that's kind of a lot of it with with the fast, you know, with fantasy sports is that you're just sort of trying to like sift the sands, you know, especially before the season starts, trying to sort of like evaluate these players for yourself.

I mean, obviously, there's different, you know, websites and publications out there you can read that sort of give an overall ranking to every player in the NFL in terms of fantasy, or at least the offensive players in terms of fantasy, but with

you know, with that being said, you know, I really just try to kind of key in on certain things that may be gone on the offseason with an organization, or maybe things that are going to continue this year with an organization like the Eagles, for instance, like we, we knew the Eagles were going to be pretty good coming into this season.

So safe bet to say that a lot of players are still going to be productive as far as fantasy purposes.

Host

And then you sometimes have a player that you just

you kind of treat differently, like maybe you wouldn't draft a running back first, but oh, say, Juan Barclay is available, that's a different story, right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.

Yeah.

Conrad

Con,

Host

who do you, do you have a position you go for first?

Conrad

I mean, typically, it depends, I guess.

I would like a running back to start because, like he said, you know, it's more scarce.

Wide receiver rooms are more, more big, but.

I'd say running back probably for me, but it depends on what type of league it is as well

Peter Van Doren

Yeah, the scoring definitely has something to do with that too, right?

You know in certain scoring types they're commonly

you know, commonplace in the sport, like you have a full point PPR, which is you get like a full fantasy point for every catch the player makes.

Conrad

Yeah.

So that.

So when

Peter Van Doren

I league like that, like it's very beneficial to have really good wide receivers

Conrad

because

Peter Van Doren

they're going to get more passes thrown their way.

They're going to get more catches.

They're going to, you know, lead a more fantasy production for you.

So just knowing you're knowing your league settings.

Host

Yeah, I drafted this year.

I drafted a defense

Peter Van Doren

and

Host

a kicker kind of high.

Not like first three rounds, but one year I did really well.

Conrad

I think I had the

Host

Steelers or something and they had strip sacks and interceptions.

Yeah.

So maybe that was an anomaly because my son's friends all were like, what are you doing?

What do we do?

And I'm like, the kicker will kickers can put up big points.

I mean,

Peter Van Doren

you

Host

know,

Peter Van Doren

quarterbacks actually put big points too.

It's

Host

just

Peter Van Doren

the fact that there's there's 32 of them in the league there.

pretty

Host

much stars going in the

Peter Van Doren

season.

Yeah, it's about 12 and they're good.

Yeah.

Host

Do you guys, uh, I'll ask you this too, Con.

Do you have something you do during fantasy, like you might do during a draft that goes against the grain, like picking a defense or a kicker or a strategy you, and I'm not asking you to divulge your secrets, but like, do you do something that's atypical, I guess?

Conrad

Uh,

Yeah, I can start.

Um, I don't draft a defense.

I just pick up every week a defense that's facing a team that's not very good streaming streaming streaming.

Yeah, but also it can work against me pretty easily too.

Huh.

That's interesting.

Host

Yeah.

What about you,

Peter Van Doren

Pete?

Um, for me, yeah, I think it really depends on the league, but like I've played in leagues that are very, um,

a very large number of fantasy owners that are in the league.

So it creates position scarcity.

There was one year actually, I passed on a wide receiver.

I just took four running backs in a row.

What?

It worked out pretty well for me.

I actually won that league because when there was an injury in one of the running backs, that has spare one to boot.

So I was

Conrad

able

Peter Van Doren

to kind of accommodate that You know because really with fantasy sports you're only You really only want people in your lineup that are playing that week Like the team doesn't have a buy and you want to make sure if they're they're gonna be healthy players that you're in your starting line So,

Host

huh?

How are you doing in all of your leagues?

You're in six leagues.

How are both you?

How are you

Peter Van Doren

doing?

It's been a really challenging season, I would say.

Yeah, it's just been very unexpected.

You know, like you can't really anticipate injuries.

There have been a lot of injuries in the league this season.

Yeah.

But, you know, at the same time, we talk about these injuries and...

At least years past like they've done studies on this.

That's like, well, there's actually more injuries happening in a lot of these seasons.

It's just the bigger names are getting injured.

So people pay more attention to that.

See, that's what I'm going to do next

Host

year.

I'm going to research the trainers.

Peter Van Doren

There

Host

you go.

Best trainers to get the soft

Conrad

tissue injuries.

Host

I don't know.

Conrad

What about

Host

you, Con?

Conrad

I mean, like how I'm doing.

Yeah.

There are some leagues that like I have a dynasty league, which is you draft once and then.

You should keep the same team every year and that one's going well for me.

I won the championship last year It's going good so far this year, but I also joined a keeper league which is where you keep like we kept three players this year and Then we draft around them I'm on 10 Because we have a league median also in it and if you don't reach that number that counts as a loss Oh, wow, okay, so I'm on 10 and the I took over for a guy that

was already the last place loser two years in a row.

I wish I would have known that before I took his team.

Peter Van Doren

That's always tough.

Conrad

I can step right into that.

The spales is master clean up.

I'm 0-10 right now, so

Host

that works.

I have trouble enough keeping up with fantasy as it is when they throw in those different angles like that.

You got to reach this.

It's fun if you're serious about fantasy.

Conrad

But

Host

for a guy like me, I'd have trouble keeping track of that too.

When I joined the Civic Media League the first year, Rocker was running it.

And he said, uh, you know, how is your knowledge of football?

And I said, I watch football just about every Sunday during, yeah, I know, I know the game, you know, played a little bit in the high school one.

He's like, all right, come into the good league.

Well, like the second week I didn't update my roster.

I get this message from rocker and he goes, Hey man, yeah, I just want to let you know this is the elite league.

Yeah.

I was not pulling my weight.

And

Peter Van Doren

they take it seriously.

Yeah, he's got one going again this year.

I

Host

didn't get the

Peter Van Doren

call.

Allegedly, the draft order is randomized, I guess, but Rocker's giving himself first pick two years in

Host

a row now.

Oh, all right.

We'll discuss that next time.

You guys answer this for me, because I think what NFL GMs do, and this is coming from a guy who's cheered for a team who hasn't had a quarterback in 100 years, they're wrong almost as much as they're right, maybe more.

Honestly, if you ran the Packers or the Giants or whatever, do you think you could draft?

Is it rocket science or do you just go look at this guy scores?

You know what I mean?

Conrad

Sometimes I think GMs are addicted to big names coming out of college like Arch Manning is going to be a top 10 pick.

Sure.

Yeah, even though he hasn't performed this year.

Yeah.

So I think one team is going to draft him and kind of be not going to be impressed with them starting out.

Peter Van Doren

Right.

Yeah, I think some you know, there are certain NFL franchises that do gravitate towards the Cowboys, but you know, otherwise I mean some of them are a little more robust and tribal from scratch Well, that's what the Bears do they'll go I'm gonna

Host

get this guy from he's a division three player that no one here They get cute and it's like okay, and he sucks a big surprise You know like sometimes I say just go get the guys from Alabama or Ohio State Yeah,

Peter Van Doren

yeah,

Host

you know,

Peter Van Doren

you know, and but if I see sports to those sometimes the output for those

players a little bit different, like having that, having that, you know, quarterback, that a little bit more mobility gives them some versatility because you're able to kind of pick up points on the ground and in the air.

So even though they're getting blown out, they still might, you know, scramble around the pocket and get a few more yards, leading to more fantasy

Host

points.

That is my guest, Peter Van Doren.

He works here at WGBW.

He's also a fantasy sports fanatic.

He drops by every once in a while to talk some fantasy sports with us tonight.

We're talking fantasy football and Conrad.

Conrad is in the same amount of leagues as Pete.

What are you guys, what's the best app?

Like do you use Yahoo ESPN?

Are some better than others?

Peter Van Doren

Well, I mean, Yahoo and ESPN are the most popular.

For me, I actually like a little bit lesser known app called Sleeper.

Conrad

Yeah, I love that

Peter Van Doren

too.

That's

Host

why.

Peter Van Doren

Why is it better?

I don't think there are any ads on there.

If there are, they just started putting ads.

No, I don't think there are at the moment.

So it's ad free.

It's basically built with fantasy sports in mind.

Whereas, you know, I think that to a degree,

ESPN and Ngahu sort of created their app, revolved their app a lot around like their news program or just their kind of like the regular search engine type software.

So it's a little bit higher tech, a little bit more streamlined and it's just overall it's pretty good.

I mean, they're pretty accurate.

They take a little bit

of a filtered approach, especially when it comes to maybe like projecting points for the week, you know, they really have a good overview of the other mainstream media, you know, major news outlets as far as fantasy.

One

Conrad

thing about the F2 is that I mean, I like it, but the one thing I kind of don't like is that they try to push betting on you.

Peter Van Doren

Yeah,

Conrad

yeah, they do that.

Overunders and yeah,

Peter Van Doren

I don't like that it's not as easy just to view.

the players Season season long statistics for the current season.

That's my biggest challenge with sleep or two is that just it's very hard to look up You know every player at once that's available

Host

How did your fantasy baseball team do

Peter Van Doren

my fantasy baseball team?

I won my keeper league for a second year in

Host

a row

Peter Van Doren

Yeah, yeah, it was good.

Host

Yeah easier than fantasy football.

What do you I mean like is

Peter Van Doren

it's more to keep up on?

Host

There's

Peter Van Doren

more players in the end of MLB Also, it's you know, you're checking your lineup like you're setting your lineup nearly daily Okay,

Host

I

Peter Van Doren

mean, I

Host

think if you go to

Peter Van Doren

fantasy football, I still think you're really probably

You know, periodically checking it once a day, but with fantasy baseball, you're definitely selling it once a day.

So

Host

it's a lot of work.

Peter Van Doren

Yeah.

It's to be active.

You

Host

know, do you think you could run a team?

Peter Van Doren

Yeah.

Yeah, you know, I could definitely do that, especially because like a civic media league going,

Host

I think a lot of

Peter Van Doren

fun for next year.

You know,

Host

all right, we're going to do a quick break.

We'll have a few more minutes with our guest, Peter van Doren on the stream.

Oh, Sydney was talking about the country of Georgia.

Oh, yeah.

Even though it sounded kind of southern, Dave says, hey, Sid, long day.

Let's have a Kerr Burger.

Let's have a virtual Kerr Burger.

Sidney Elsa says, haha, nice.

And I hope it turns around this evening.

I hope he means the game and not the show because I thought we were doing OK with the show.

All right, we're coming right back.

We'll wrap things up with Peter Van Doren.

And I'll tell you who's going to be on the show tomorrow night.

It's another great one here at Nightlight on the Civic Media Radio

AJ from Madison (caller)

Network.

at the floor.

Pete Schwab (host)

Donna's song.

That means I've had a lot of coffee.

It's Pete Schwabba and Nightlight.

Welcome back, folks.

Peter VanDoren is here.

We're talking fantasy football with Pete and Conrad.

We have a few more minutes here.

Tomorrow night on the show, folks, Matt Miller will be here.

Milwaukee Film Critic.

He's going to make the popcorn pick of the week.

Matt has not done that yet for us.

I was surprised.

And then Rob Momarts.

You're saying that right?

Momarts?

Momarts.

A children's illustrator.

He doesn't draw pictures of children.

He draws.

Yeah, he draws some pretty cool books like a martial artist.

I draw pictures of marshals So that's tomorrow night on nightlight and We've got a few more minutes with our guest Peter van door and we're talking fantasy football and you know Let me get these texts out of the way because I don't want to forget them and then we can just focus on I've got

Four more questions for you, Pete, and you're going to love them.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

OK, ready?

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Rapid fire.

Here we go.

You

Pete Schwab (host)

got it.

Anna from Madison in the 608 says, hi, Pete and Conrad.

I would like to try Elvis Presley's favorite, a fried peanut butter sandwich.

No, a fried peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich.

Oh, that sounds.

You know, I would try it.

I would

Peter VanDoren (guest)

try

Pete Schwab (host)

that too.

Conrad (producer)

I mean,

Pete Schwab (host)

banana and peanut butter.

The fried is always good because it has like a crunch element.

I like that.

Well

Conrad (producer)

done,

Pete Schwab (host)

Anna.

And then Bridget from the 818 says, Sushi.

I have tried rolls and Japanese food, but never sushi with actual raw fish.

Oh, it's

Conrad (producer)

my

Pete Schwab (host)

favorite.

Sushi?

Conrad (producer)

I love sushi.

I do, too.

But do you get it with the raw fish?

I try any kind that comes out the way, you

Pete Schwab (host)

know?

Yeah, I do too.

I've had it, and I like it.

I do get nervous a little bit eating raw fish, but it's not going to stop me from putting ginger and soy sauce on there.

I'm just going to risk it.

Conrad (producer)

I'm bowing it down.

Yeah, there you

Pete Schwab (host)

go.

And then we had a comment.

I wanted to read, oh, Mike Desatelle on social media, when he saw the poster of tonight's show with the health talk with Sherry and fancy football.

Mike said, does this mean I can't enjoy my buttered popcorn while listening tonight?

Mike, you could do whatever you want.

We are not.

telling you what to do.

All right, Pete, have you had a critter burger, by the way?

Peter VanDoren (guest)

I've not.

No.

Well, I don't think so.

I've probably had like a variant of it, but never, you know, never quite the authenticity that I think you're trying to tell me about here.

Yeah,

Pete Schwab (host)

I don't know.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

Tell me more.

Pete Schwab (host)

Well, I just got to Google it like Conrad and I both just the picture was enough not to get us to eat it.

So it's like a burger.

Cheese

Peter VanDoren (guest)

curds?

Pete Schwab (host)

Big, flat patty of a cheese

Peter VanDoren (guest)

curd

Pete Schwab (host)

on top

Conrad (producer)

of

Pete Schwab (host)

the

Peter VanDoren (guest)

burger.

Yeah, yeah, sure.

Pete Schwab (host)

So

Peter VanDoren (guest)

it's

Pete Schwab (host)

no different, I'm sure, than eating a burger with cheese curds on the side.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

That's

Pete Schwab (host)

still pretty heavy, but.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

I've done business lunches that I'm a little bit conservative with, like, what I order, because I don't want to just, like, pick up, like, a hand grenade while I'm in front of the survive, you know?

Pete Schwab (host)

Would you go to, like, an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, which might be my favorite thing in the world to do?

I love the, oh, there you go, Pete.

There's the Curder Burger.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

Oh, OK, yeah.

Oh, yeah,

Pete Schwab (host)

yeah, yeah.

Yeah, that looks, well, you know, to each his own.

Tasty.

All right, so let me ask you this.

What is your favorite time of the week to watch the NFL?

Peter VanDoren (guest)

Um, you know, I.

kind of like Sunday.

I like Sunday football because of the halftime and kind of catch the replays and all the games.

Yeah.

I mean, a Monday night is pretty cool too.

It's because that's like the feature week.

I feel like Thursday more than Monday even.

Yeah, kind of like Thursday.

You know, it's I mean, it's Friday.

Second, just staying up late a little bit easier.

Exactly.

Right.

Right.

Monday is still, you know, dealing with

Pete Schwab (host)

Tuesday.

What about you?

Conrad (producer)

Oh, Sunday at noon noon when I get to watch Red Zone.

It's my favorite time of the week.

Pete Schwab (host)

Yeah, isn't red zone on all that like during all the games?

Conrad (producer)

Yeah, that's so you can watch every single game when they're close to the red zone all the updates for my fantasy football team.

Pete Schwab (host)

Oh, that helps fantasy, too.

I guess so.

Yeah.

Conrad (producer)

But also just watching these great games.

Yes.

Yeah.

It's in the action.

Pete Schwab (host)

What about all right?

Super Bowl halftime thoughts, bad bunny.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

They're not very familiar with the catalog.

It's another one of those years.

We talked

Pete Schwab (host)

about that a little bit last night.

I don't know anything about Bad Bunny, but some people are pissed off about it because it's someone they don't like.

I don't know, like that's kind of strange.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

I kind of appreciate having like a singer that hasn't just been like blasted on her face over the course of the past couple of years.

It's a great way to look at it.

I mean, it's cool.

Like, OK, now the Superbowl is kind of my introduction to new music.

So I'll watch for a couple of

Pete Schwab (host)

minutes.

And if I don't like it, I'll go get a snack.

Exactly.

Yeah.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

Yeah.

I got enough music

Pete Schwab (host)

I can listen

Peter VanDoren (guest)

to.

Come back in time for the commercials and watch those.

Pete Schwab (host)

I think my favorite time to watch.

I would almost agree with you, Con, about noon, but I do like the Thursday night game.

I do like, as you say.

And I get home about nine o'clock.

I can usually catch a second half, you know, or something.

Conrad (producer)

But

Pete Schwab (host)

when is the next Cubs Brewers game, by the way?

Conrad (producer)

Tomorrow.

Is it tomorrow?

Pete Schwab (host)

OK.

So that's Thursday.

What time?

Conrad (producer)

We have to wait, I think, for something.

I'm not fully sure yet.

Pete Schwab (host)

OK.

All right, Pete, last thing for you.

Are you binge watching anything not sports related or sports related?

Um,

Peter VanDoren (guest)

I'm watching waiting for new seasons to start on a couple of things, you know, like I got into, um, I got into Dune prophecy.

Like I watched the first, first season.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And then I watched a

Pete Schwab (host)

prequel to the movies.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's, it's, it's interesting.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's, it's, it's, it's a little bit different because I think some of the elements of it, like, even though it's still set.

like far off future from us.

But yeah, it's a prequel of that next future, which I think happens like 500 years after that or something, if I recall.

There's still a lot of like themes in the movie.

They're very like contemporary with our existing society.

Like, I don't know, they're molds of transportation.

Like, I think they kind of like drive some like flying cars and

Conrad (producer)

like

Peter VanDoren (guest)

they

They

Conrad (producer)

go, they go a

Peter VanDoren (guest)

club and they're listening to some techno and they

Conrad (producer)

go in the

Peter VanDoren (guest)

back room and do some, you know, adult things that may be frowned upon out in public.

So I don't know what you're

Pete Schwab (host)

talking

Peter VanDoren (guest)

about.

Pete Schwab (host)

Hey, this was fun.

Thank you.

Are you a fantasy basketball guy or a

Peter VanDoren (guest)

hockey or play?

I've tried both.

I really am not very good at fantasy basketball.

At least the time I tried it a decade ago had some sort of weird like.

production per minute categories.

So if you have a player like, like, uh, Yannis who plays a lot, then you were actually penalized for that because he was like, Oh, the court's so dang much.

Conrad (producer)

He like

Peter VanDoren (guest)

did away with that statistic.

Essentially the statistic was won by a guy who just doesn't check his lineup because then he's not putting as much like.

active players into it.

It's going to drive you crazy.

It's nuts.

Thank you, sir, for

Pete Schwab (host)

being here.

This was fun.

Yeah, for sure.

Peter VanDoren (guest)

Hey, Van Doran.

Pete Schwab (host)

Hey, Mom.

Hi, Mrs. Van Doran.

Thank you, Pete.

And thank you to Sherry Stoka for being here as well.

Always fun to talk healthy stuff.

And thank you for all your calls and texts, too.

We will be back tomorrow night to do it all again and make the popcorn pick of the week.

That's tomorrow night at nightlight on behalf of the lovable producer, Conrad, I'm Pete Schwab, saying good night, Wisconsin.
