Since 1991 Kathryn has enjoyed a varied broadcasting career, beginning as host of The Breakfast Special on the heritage community radio station WORT in Madison. Kathryn moved into commercial radio with mornings on Alternative music station 92FM WMAD, News Talkers WTSO and WTDY, Adult Contemporary Magic 98, Solid Rock WJJO and briefly on 80s music station The Buzz, co-hosting mornings with the late, great comedian Dave Gray. After Madison, Kathryn spent two years in Los Angeles hosting a program on Westwood One’s syndicated network, and with Shadow Traffic doing LA traffic (once from a helicopter!) and local news for Howard Stern’s syndicated morning show. In 2001 Lake came back to the Midwest and began what would become over two decades with WGN radio in Chicago, initially as a fill-in host (the first six months for WGN radio icons Steve and Johnnie!) then settling into commercial production. In 2023 Kathryn was thrilled to learn about Civic Media’s lofty mission and eagerly returned to her broadcasting roots in Madison, endeavoring to bring truth and civility back to the airwaves across Wisconsin.
