It is highly likely that the government is going to shut down tonight.

No, seriously, we just went from like laughter to that.

Well, this is the reality

of the situation.

Yeah, and it's, you know, and it's the faults.

There should be faults laid down.

And actually, there is someone who has a very, very strong opinion on whose responsibility it is if there is a government shutdown.

or a congressman someone you will recognize really the current president of the United States had some opinions about government shutdowns in 2013 and Who is to blame for that Kelvin?

Who's gonna bear the brunt of the responsibility if indeed there is a shut down of our government?

Well, if you

say who gets fired it always has to be the top I mean problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president's the leader

And he's got to get everybody in a room and he's got to leave.

You know, the interesting thing is in 25 years and 50 years and 100 years from now, when the government is, you know, they talk about the government shutdown, they're going to be talking about the president of the United States.

Who is the president at that time?

They're not going to be talking who the head of the house was, the head of the Senate, who's running things in Washington.

So I really think the pressure is on the president.

Donald Trump in 2013.

talking about whose fault it is if there is a government shutdown, which is likely going to happen tonight.

And I know it's not, he said 25, 50 years from now, but that was 12 years ago when the government shut down.

Barack Obama was president.

And granted, there's ample place to point your finger at him.

That's fine.

But who was in control?

of the purse strings in 2013, I think it was Republicans.

I believe it was.

Who is in control of every branch of the government, including the Supreme Court right now.

Yeah, so the White House, the Senate, and the House, all under Republican control.

So I feel like if we're going to apply 2013 logic, and I'm using that word logic real loosely here, whether it comes down to Trump, if we apply that logic to what's happening today,

I mean, it just makes sense.

I mean, are we going to fire the president?

Are we going to fire, are we going to fire them all?

I mean, should we start at the top?

It seems like, I mean, now is a, there's never been a better time to invoke the words of president now, former president, uh, Truman, which was the buck stops here.

All right.

don't know.

We're just pointing out what he said, unless he's changed his mind.

I mean, who knows?

It's

a long time ago.

That's a Fox and Friends thing.

So that was the morning by afternoon.

He could be like,

who is the president of the United States?

That's a good point.

So what is going to happen?

What is this going to mean for you here in Wisconsin?

If the federal government shuts down at midnight, the first thing is probably going to be if you're going to be traveling.

and especially air traffic controllers, aircraft inspection, FAA reviews, things like that.

Air traffic controllers and about 50,000 TSA workers are among the government workers who will have to keep working but won't get paid.

But in the past, that has led to some what they call sick outs.

where at some point they kind of get tired of working for nothing, even though they are supposed to get paid retroactively.

Yeah,

which we'll see.

This administration loves paying for services rendered.

Well, now the administration is essentially saying that if people get laid off, they're just going to fire them.

Well, and then blame it on the Democrats.

Well,

and then in one month, two months, three months, four weeks, five days, a minute and a half after they do that, they're going to tell them to come back because they need them.

This has been happening since

January since doge came into the building fire them quote save money and then like oh no I forgot rockets need to land darn it we need to bring them back weather needs to be forecasted nuclear codes need to be protected we should get those individuals back there are stories after story of of the government having to hire people back that they fired that they fired and by the way

When you fire someone, that's a cost.

When you rehire them, it's a cost.

When you hire a new person, that's a cost.

That all costs us money.

Doge saved us nothing.

These are terrible, non-long-term planning measures that they are inflicting upon us.

And by the way, Jane, I don't know about you, but I don't think the air traffic control problems that have been happening over the past six, seven months are gonna get any better if we fire more people.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Friday, he's worried a shutdown will jeopardize air traffic training.

No, really?

What?

Hundreds of air traffic control trainees at the Academy in Oklahoma City could be furloughed, causing significant delays in the training pipeline and worsen ongoing air traffic controller staffing crisis because we do not have enough air traffic controllers.

So they shut this down.

all of their training stops.

And this

is

one aspect

by the way.

The FAA right now, right, and we're only talking about the FAA.

Right now the FAA is about 3,800 air traffic controllers short, almost 4,000.

But that's okay.

That's okay.

And don't believe the Republicans when their whole thing now is that Democrats want to restore

The subsidies to the ACA which is Obamacare so they can cover illegal immigrants medical costs

No, that's not a thing.

No, that's that's really not a thing

No, because what's going to happen is that if you are on traditional insurance that you like that is non ACA acquired your premiums are going to go up period Yes, all of our premiums are going up if you're on the ACA They're gonna go up even more and people on the ACA got a tax credit every year to help afford those payments That tax credit is either going to be lowered or gotten rid of yes, so they need help and senator Baldwin

Representative Pokan and many others are trying to make those tax credits permanent, you know, like the tax cuts that we give the billionaires Let's make a simple tax cut for for for regular folks permanent accessible and and and Do a good

job.

Well, and I've seen reports that say premiums could go up 90% I mean 90%

I've seen I haven't seen those per se I've seen 20 to 25% But the fact fact is if you're on the ACA your premiums are going up

A lot.

So, yeah, what, again, from a politician standpoint, Jane, I don't understand this.

If you just make those tax credits permanent, they cost barely anything to this country.

And then you get to say, hey, we helped you.

And then you can do, then burn your 15th boat with your 14th boat.

I don't care, but like these little things that you can do,

by not doing them and then also lying about them and saying it's illegal aliens who are taking our healthcare.

It's just bunk.

I almost swore.

I almost said the C word.

If you're planning on international travel and you don't have a passport yet, I'd do it today.

US passport agencies will stay open if the government shuts down, but it's going to take a lot longer to get your application processed and employees furloughed.

So if you have been thinking about applying for a passport, I would do it today.

It can take several months.

So if there's going to be slowdowns because of a government shutdown, it could take some time.

So we want to make sure that you're okay with that.

So yeah, it's better to do it now, even if you don't need it, because then you have it.

According to this article, naturally, the biggest impacts are going to be felt by federal workers and active duty military service members who won't get a paycheck during the government shutdown.

Again, in years past when this has happened, they have been paid retroactively, but still, if the government shutdown goes down for two months and you don't have money coming in, they still have to pay bills.

Well, and I'm sorry, but look at the track record, Jane.

I'm sorry, but if these folks go without pay, doing their jobs,

I do not believe that this administration is going to make it a priority to get those individuals reimbursed.

They are going to Hem and Haw tell them, well, if you loved your country, you would just give up the time and give it the money.

We could use it.

We want to be rich again and it'll come back to you in another way.

I do not see these individuals unless there's a court order or someone finds a zero and a one that says, press that and they will just get automatically reimbursed.

I can see this administration.

trying to snake people out of a total of millions of dollars in reimbursements.

Even though if you listen to our president and we're going to talk about this in the

next half hour,

we've taken in trillions, trillions, trillions with a T in tariffs.

It's on the tariff shelf, according to our president.

Is

that a, that's a technical term.

He calls it the tariff shelf.

I just have a spy shelf and so apparently they're just wads of cash.

on our tariff shelf that's available well when we went alone 20 billion dollars to Argentina we got money for that we've got money for the really shiny gold decorations in the oval office now that

I feel like it is, if we are going to have the same, if we had those conversations last year about Joe Biden, about Joe Biden, it is perfectly valid to have the same conversations now because we have seen, and we have been seeing it for a long time, but recently it's been getting worse and worse and worse.

And two stories popped out at me over the past couple of days.

And the first one having to do with an AI scam or an AI commercial that wasn't real, that the

President of the United States retweeted and we have he

put it.

No, he put he re-truthed it on his social look He he re-truthed this and then he

told it.

Yeah, and then pulled it Well, they they also and and and the clip was also deleted as far as I think as well So like he did it's been deleted, but well nothing leaves the internet forever.

It's there and it's improved by

Calvin, we have a clip.

This clip, I just want to give, I just want to give a couple of things.

So this clip is taken from late night with Seth Meyers.

It's mostly news reporting.

There's a little bit of Seth in there, but it goes in with an explanation.

And then about 20 seconds in, you are going to hear the actual commercial that was re-truthed by Donald Trump.

So that is sort of what we have here.

Some context for you.

It features a rendering of the president speaking.

You hear a version of his voice, and it's supposed to resemble a Fox News segment featuring his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.

So this idea has been popular in QAnon conspiracy theory circles for years, and it asserts that elites have access to secret healing technology that's been kept from the public.

Breaking now, President Donald J. Trump has announced a historic new health care system.

This is the fake.

The launch of America's first Med Bed hospitals and a national Med Bed card for every citizen.

Every

American will soon receive their own med-bed card.

With it, you'll have guaranteed access to our new hospitals, led by the top doctors in the nation, equipped with the most advanced technology in the world.

These facilities are safe, modern, and designed to restore every citizen to full health and strength.

Wow.

The president thought that was a real thing he did in real life.

Yeah.

He posted that.

He posted that.

It wasn't a joke.

He didn't take it as a joke.

He posted it and we know that it wasn't a joke because it was taken down.

Right.

And again, is he okay?

Well, and this med bed thing.

Yeah, I never heard about this.

Well, because again, we don't crawl through the dark web and we don't belong to QAnon.

This is a conspiracy that has been big among the QAnon people

who

have not gone away.

They're just not as prominent.

They're certainly not getting those Epstein files they wanted.

Well, that's true.

Yeah, this... If this were President Biden posting something like this, Democrats would have come out and said, sir, you're not well.

Well, and you know what?

And you can say, no, he wouldn't.

Yes, we can, because last year after the debate, Democrats were calling for him to step down.

So...

We have the proof that people in the party and people of note will stand up and say, no, I think he needs to be done with, you know, we need, we needed better option.

And again, you can think I'm being snarky.

You can think I'm being silly.

You can think I'm being a jerk.

I don't care.

I'm truly, and I've said it before, worried about his health because that wasn't, that was one of two things that happened with regard to reality versus perception.

And that

I don't know.

It's a big deal when you're the president of the United States of America.

It's his cognitive abilities.

You really wonder how he is cognitively because he said over the last 10 years, we could go back to talking about the Civil War.

Yeah.

When he was talking about the Civil War and they protected our airports.

Yeah.

I think that was the

revolution.

Well, it

doesn't matter.

It was a pre-airport war.

Yeah.

But I mean, there's

lots of examples.

But just also the trillions comment you made today.

Oh, yeah.

He said we have trillions of dollars sitting on the tariff shelf.

He's talking now about how we're just bringing in trillions and trillions and trillions of dollars in tariffs.

He actually said that someone came to me the other day and said we found $31 trillion.

and they don't know where it came from.

Well, if that's the case, then we can help subsidize the ACA if they just found another $31 trillion, and then we don't have to have a government shutdown.

I mean, $31 trillion, I feel

like we can

all take a vacation there.

That's a lot of money.

And I just like I want to know from the mega supporters.

I want to know like hey, it's it's honestly Well, no, it's not because when you are in something like this, which is and is been stated by experts This is more of a cult than it is a party.

You cannot you cannot denigrate you cannot speak against your leader The leader is infallible.

He is that he is the next thing to God and but you can't tell me in your brain somewhere You're not feeling even for a for a wisp of a moment saying Yeah, maybe this isn't

He needs to go and get mental health.

He needs to go and get physical health.

Because Trump on his own is going after people.

And that leads us right into the next thing that is giving me and should give us all great pause is the fact that over the weekend, he decided to, he wanted to send troops into Portland.

And I think I know why they created the narrative of Portland.

Cause a lot of people were scratching their heads going, why Portland?

Because Portland during the

The Black Lives Matters rally has been 2020.

It was a big flash point.

There were something, there were things happening there.

And they've used Portland ever since then as, as a guidepost of here is where the denigration

is in America.

Antifa.

Antifa.

It's like the, the, the, yeah, it is.

And so he wanted to send troops into Portland and we have a clip, but I, we can wait on that in a moment, but that is the second point to ask the question.

And to clarify that I am not trying to be a snarky jerk.

I am someone who had a dad, grandparents, parents, friends.

Is anybody worried about him?

That's what I would like to know.

And if you support Donald Trump, you don't even have to tell me you don't like it.

Chuck Schumer said that he and Hakeem Jeffries had to explain the consequences of the government shutdown to the president when they met yesterday.

People who get their insurance through Obamacare or ACA are going to be getting notices in the coming days that their premiums are going up unless Congress extends the funds.

Schumer says he was not aware that Americans would pay huge increases in their health care bills and not aware the effects will actually start October 1st, not the end of December.

Thanks for joining us.

Good morning.

Great to be with you again.

Well, you made your announcement on our friend and colleague Todd Albus program that you were jumping into the race for governor.

So

Senator for people who may not be, may not know much about you and tell us a little bit about Keldoroy's.

Well, I was born in Marshfield and spent my early years in rural Taylor County, which if you're not familiar, it's north of Highway 29.

My family lived in a one room school house that my parents remodeled after it was vacant for many years.

I now represent the Dane County area.

in the Wisconsin State Senate where I serve on the Budget Committee.

I also previously served in the State Assembly where I helped fight against Act 10.

I'm an attorney and a small business owner, mom and stepmom of five, and I was the Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin.

So I have been in the fight here for Wisconsin alongside all of you and your listeners for 25 years.

It's 25 years, really.

Yeah.

I have done nothing with my life, folks.

I'm going to

see you later.

I'll be like, oh, come on.

No, getting a word out is probably the most important thing we can be doing.

We need to connect with each other, and that's what you do every day.

Well, we are living in such divided times, Senator Royce.

How do you come in as governor and try and get things done and appeal to everyone?

What would be your first priority if you were elected governor, do you think?

Well, my first and only priority is making sure that Wisconsin is a place where every single family, no matter who you are or where you're from, that you have the freedom to thrive.

And, you know, certainly it's about making sure people have good paying jobs that don't just pay the bills, but let you actually build the life you want, right?

Give your kids the future you want, making sure we have affordable housing and childcare that everyone has access to good.

health care and and reinvesting in our public schools that have really gotten shortchanged over the last generation.

So those are key priorities.

And I think, you know, there's so much emphasis on the things that divide us.

And that's a really cynical thing that I think the right wing has done with our politics.

But when you actually listen to people and you travel all over the state as I have,

you

know, for more than 20 years, you find that we've got a lot in common.

people really do want the same things.

And the policies that I'm supporting are not controversial.

They are supported by the vast majority of Wisconsinites.

They want someone who can get it done.

Well, and I think, and we've talked about this a lot, especially when it comes to public schools, most people love their own public school.

there is this perception it's that other public school that's the problem but i like my kids teachers i like my kids you know and and so i do think that there's wide support for public schools if it's in your own backyard

We're absolutely right.

And the reality is that the vast majority of kids in this state go to public school and it shouldn't matter how wealthy your parents are, what kind of neighborhood you could afford to live in, how rural your community is.

You deserve a great public school and we need to focus not just on making sure that teachers have the resources they need and schools do too, but also

that our kids are equipped to thrive.

So it's not just more money, but it's actually better schools for our kids.

It's really disturbing to me.

And I want to say this goes back at least 20 years that we expect teachers to pay out of their own pocket for school supplies.

When did this become so normalized that we just don't have the money to give paper and rulers to our kids?

Right.

You know, and I think about every August, I'm always in a mad dash to get school supplies for my kids.

And, you know, I try to get as many things off those teacher wish lists as possible.

I send my kids with extra supplies because I know there are families out there that can't, you know, that that will really break the bank for them.

And the reality is this is why I've been such a champion for healthy school meals for all.

right because every kid will do better and learn

better

if they have good nutritious healthy food that a lot of it can come right from our own farmers here

in

Wisconsin.

This is a win-win and think about the burden that that takes off of working parents right even if you can afford all the grocery costs you know trying to

get your kids fed is really important.

And school supplies is one piece of that.

But we don't expect firefighters or police officers to spend thousands of dollars on their training to go to extra schooling, to buy all their own supplies, to chip in for the fire engine.

We somehow have normalized this with teachers.

And when we see now ICE agents being recruited, people that have been rejected from police forces all over the country, people that are not qualified to be in the military and they're being offered six figure salaries and massive bonuses, that's a kick in the gut to the teachers.

Absolutely.

And I want to take the, I want to take the education component and attach it to something bigger.

And I want to reference something that when you came to our show a couple of months ago, speaking about the Wisconsin state budget and the news had come out.

Senate, your, your colleagues, Senator Hesselebein got in the room, talked to Republicans, Governor Evers signed it.

It seemed like a, we're like, oh, here we go.

And you came out on your show and you're like, no.

And I was like, oh, no, what happened?

And really, I want to thank you and.

also a representative Hong for being so vocal.

And there were others too.

But the two of you being so vocal on what you did not like about this budget, it passed, it needed to pass, we didn't want to go back to old spending.

But I guess the question I have for you is your your your non support of this budget, what are you going to do in the governor's office when you get your mind around the budget as far as being governor?

How are you going to fight for the things that you feel

We all, as Wisconsinites, need in the next biennium.

Well, for me, it's really about...

what are our priorities?

And the budget is where you show that.

And I will say, you know, we've got a lot of good Democrats thinking about running for governor, but I'm the only one that has served on the finance committee and knowledge of that state budget is incredibly important for our next governor because we're going to have a really short window of time in which to make real change and actually invest in our kids.

So for me, it really is looking at the fact that our kids have not gotten an inflationary increase in their schools.

in a generation in 15 years.

They're still not recovered from the deep and devastating cuts that Scott Walker made.

And the other piece of it is we are shoveling billions of dollars of our taxpayer money to private, unaccountable voucher schemes.

And private education is fine, but taxpayers shouldn't be footing the bill.

And the vast majority of families that are taking advantage of those vouchers

are people whose kids were already

in

private school.

The parents were paying, and now the taxpayers are putting the bill for wealthy people who want to send their kids off into religious schools.

And I think that offends a lot of Wisconsinites because we know that

every kid deserves a great public school, but we can't continue to fund two school systems, especially when we've been short changing our public school kids.

about how much we spend on public and private schools.

Yes, the Wisconsin, I want to get the actual name correct here.

It is the, I'm sorry.

You put me on the spot.

Yeah, I

surprised him with that.

I

It's a tracker from the Wisconsin Education Action Network.

If I'm getting that name wrong, I apologize.

But what they do is they allow you to drop down into your specific school district and find out how much of your tax dollars are being siphoned.

I'm using that word siphoned deliberately into the voucher program.

And another thing too, state senator, it's not only people who children are already in those schools, but it's also to families who can certainly afford those schools too.

So they're getting free education.

And the piece that blows my mind the most is that there is no oversight body for...

these schools they don't have they don't have to report to a higher standard there's no one overseeing their graduation rates their curriculum rates they don't have to do the same kind of reporting that public schools do and yet we're giving them taxpayer money i don't i don't understand

and they don't have to follow the same laws

either i mean

you know these private schools they can discriminate against students against

anybody

can you imagine against teachers

in the employment context and their teachers don't have to have the same kinds of licensure and educational requirements.

And so, you know, again, I think parents can make whatever choice they want to, but the idea that taxpayers should simply foot the bill for wealthy families.

to send their kids to private school is just doesn't pass the smell test.

And this has been tried in numerous other states.

I want to say Arkansas jumped in big on school vouchers.

I believe Arkansas has also done the same and there have been reports about this specifically about the number of people who as you pointed out Senator can afford private schools already had their kids in private schools.

They were paying for it.

The vast majority of these people

are the ones who are getting the benefits who don't need them,

who don't need them.

Right.

And I think about the fact that all of us want our kids to have a great education.

I mean, we want our kids to have more opportunities than we did.

It starts with our public schools and our kids deserve that investment.

And I think something going back to what you said, Jane, too, people, you know, people love their public schools.

They love them so much that they vote to raise their own property taxes for them.

I, and I've said this before and I will continue to say this, I do not

have children.

I do not have a direct stake in my public school system in Kenosha, but I voted to raise my taxes because I understand the

effect impact and the long-term investment of having good schools in your community and how it comes back to benefit you as a taxpayer.

So I voted yes, it did not go through because I think honestly some taxpayers are saying, why do I have to keep doing this?

And as both of you were saying, is because it's been systematically choked out and suffocated by one side of the aisle, who by the way, and I always say this to Robin Boss, if you're listening, the greatest

increase in a generation doesn't mean anything to me when you barely gave them any money in the first place.

When you give them 10 bucks one year and you give them 15, that's not worth bragging about.

And that's what you did to education, including zero K to 12 increases.

So sorry, let me take a moment.

They dug a 10 foot hole, they threw three, four feet of dirt in and gave themselves a pat on the back break.

Let's be honest about what's happening.

And the property tax thing is real.

These

divisive cycles of referendum enforcing school districts and frankly our local governments

to

go to taxpayers and say please raise your own taxes.

That is really unfair and it pits neighbor against neighbor because property taxes are too high in the state because of republican policies.

Republican politicians have courted billions of dollars at the state level.

They have left revenue on the table by keeping cannabis illegal.

Meanwhile, other states have legalized it.

They have shoveled our tax dollars to vouchers and to big corporations and the wealthy and are short changing our kids and forcing you property taxpayers and homeowners and renters to foot the bill.

And it's just not not okay.

Well, and I think the biggest example, at least for me on how the government has not been adequately

funding municipalities.

The city of Brookfield had to do this, people.

The city of Brookfield had to bring a referendum.

Brookfield is a pretty wealthy community, and even they were like, yeah, we don't have enough money.

This has been a problem.

And state senator, I saw a an opinion piece come across the cap times two days ago from John Nichols.

And this applies to the congressional race for Tom Tiffany seats, as far as his running.

But I think this applies.

to what you are talking about, especially from where you come from, which is the title is Democrats should fight for the North.

And I think that in the past few years, people have realized, oh, Madison, Milwaukee, and

and Green Bay aren't the only Democrats who vote.

I think we've seen an importance of finding out what those folks out in the North, not even if they're Democrats, just what people are talking about, because they can get left behind, because people, Democrats

can

sometimes say, farmers, they'll never vote for me.

Or rural people, they'll never vote for me.

So you're from the North, and you hear those conversations.

What do you hear from those individuals?

And tell,

the listeners, why it is important to fight for the northern area of Wisconsin.

I think we need to fight for everyone in Wisconsin, no matter who you are or where you're from.

And there are a lot of people out there who are struggling that have been betrayed by Donald Trump and by Republicans in Washington.

And they have every reason to be angry and upset.

because he promised to lower costs and everything that he has done has stabbed them in the back, right?

He's raising costs.

The tariff taxes are costing families thousands of dollars more in added costs for items.

Our farmers are suffering.

Meanwhile, he's spending $20 billion to bail out an Argentinian dictator and help their soybean farmers who are competing against ours who now can't sell their soybeans to China because of the retaliatory tariffs and the chaos Trump is causing.

So there's a lot out there.

There are people who will vote for us.

They will listen to us, but we have to go and show up.

And, you know, I think we have to, the tone sometimes that Democrats used to campaign, I think is real off-putting to people.

And you have to be willing to welcome people who think differently from you.

I mean, that's kind of a, you know, Midwestern value is like we take care of our neighbors and then

But we don't get up in their business.

And I think sometimes, you know, Democrats are especially like on the left, you get a little bit of, you know, telling people a little bit how to live and how to think.

And I just, you know, that's never been my my deal.

I just I'm really a live and let live kind of person.

I want you to have health care, whether you like me or not.

And I want your kids to have a good school and I want your roads to be

um well paved so you can get your um you know milk to the cheese plant regardless of whether you vote for me or not and I think you know we've kind of um we need to show up in these places and we need to listen carefully to what people are saying and um and they they have every right to be angry and

We can help them.

Well, and I would like to think that over the last couple of years, and especially when we had Ben Wickler as the head of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, there did seem to be a lot more outreach and a lot more people on the ground in some of these areas where maybe Democrats would not have traditionally campaigned.

So I do think that there's more, right?

There's been a greater effort to try and do some some groundwork there.

And when you see our rural areas in Wisconsin, they are not as red as in other kind of similar states.

And there is, remember, Wisconsin has a great history of being a progressive state.

So a state that really has fought back against billionaires and barons and, you know, the kind of corrupt politics that we are seeing now out of Washington.

Wisconsin was one of the first places to fight back and say, no,

People actually deserve power in our political system.

Not big corporations, not dollars.

And I think we can do that again.

We can reclaim that mantle.

uh and invest in our communities and especially in rural communities that have really been left behind.

I think you bring up a very important point too in as far as when it comes to democratic politics the inflexibility that they can show towards those who disagree with them and then we'll have sometimes the temerity to say well the republicans are so inflexible and immutable well we all have our own biases and it's a time right now especially in these times to sit back and listen to people tell us about their problems and why they think the way they do we can't promise to

change our

but what you can do is promise at least to listen.

And I learned this, you know, being on the front lines of the abortion rights movement, you know, in my early 20s, right?

I got to hear from so many different people who had a wide range of opinions about abortion, but I never shied away from going on Fox News or going on Christian radio, because I think it's really important to say, I respect the fact that you disagree with me on this.

It's okay to have deeply held beliefs that are different from me.

I've got my values and, you know,

I don't want to regulate what's going on in your life.

And here's why I don't want this to be regulated because it is personal.

Absolutely.

And you can win people on that argument, even if they disagree.
