Deb, we've had a lot of...

listeners coming in with questions for you.

So it's going to be a busy, a busy couple of segments, but good morning and thanks for making time for us.

How are you?

Good morning and thank you for having me.

SAVE Act is a big deal.

So let's talk.

It really is.

Jane Matenaer

So the SAVE Act passed in the house last week.

This is something that was in Project 2025 in case people are not familiar because yes, they are

instituting things in under the Trump administration that were in project 2025.

But one of the first questions we got was from a listener I will call Jane, for example, so that we don't have to use her name.

So here is her question, Deb.

If a woman has a valid passport with both her maiden and married names on it, is this enough documentation

to prove I am who I am.

So say, for example, my name is Jane Ann Mattener Clooney.

Just as an example, Jane Ann Mattener Clooney, but my birth certificate says Jane Ann Mattener.

Would that be enough for me to bring to my polling place?

And would they accept that?

Short answer, yes.

The SAVE Act as it passed the House.

indicates that there are three sets of documents that will enable you to prove citizenship.

One of them is a passport.

So as long as you are holding a passport, you will be able to vote.

The other two are your naturalization papers, if you are naturalized.

And the, now I'm losing my mind, passport and birth certificate.

Got to have a birth certificate.

So but keep in mind that though that sounds on its surface Okay, you know, we all had a birth certificate.

We most of us maybe have a passport You know, if we're naturalized, we know where our naturalization papers are should be no-brainer Tribal IDs will no longer count Tribal IDs do not state your birthplace

So now a member of a tribe in the state of Wisconsin and across the nation will have to subsequently prove where they were born and

That may or may not be easy for folks.

Somebody who has lost their passport or has lost their birth certificate, maybe through a natural disaster.

Maybe their parent had it and never gave it to them.

They just don't have their birth certificate.

So we think about the exceptions to the rules.

And the SAVE Act,

beyond just having these three very limiting pieces of citizenship proof.

It takes away other intrinsic voting rights.

For instance, in Wisconsin, we can register to vote online.

The Sabacc specifically will disallow that, so there's no more online registration.

You have to present in person to your clerk

one of those three pieces of documentation to be able to ensure that you can register to vote.

Every time you move, you will have to do that.

So now let's let's suppose you live in a rural Wisconsin County.

Your clerk doesn't maintain regular office hours because she works very part time and works out of her kitchen.

How are you going to as a senior perhaps moving from

senior independent living, to senior assisted living, to senior nursing living, each of those moves, your address changes, each of those moves now, you will be compelled to go to your clerk's office and show your new address and your proof of citizenship.

Jane Matenaer

And that would hold, Deb, even if I'm going to be staying within the same county.

just with the change of address that is going to be enough that you change address doesn't matter if you move if you're staying in the same county you're staying in the same city if your address changes you have to show up in person to re-register again.

Whereas right now say I live downtown in the city of Madison and I'm in a high-rise apartment building I'm on the second floor something opens up on the 10th floor and I want it so I move up there.

Right now

I just have to inform the clerk that I moved to a new unit number at the same address.

In the future, I would have to go to the clerk's office to show that I have moved to this new address and again present one of those three pieces of citizenship.

Greg Bach

Well, and the other thing too that I'm hearing from you, Deb, is, you know, a lot of people don't have their birth certificate, the one with the raised stamp on that.

And

People don't have passports.

Granted, the argument might be, well, let's just get your, it's your burst of it.

You can go get one.

That costs money.

That means in order to vote, you have to pay for a document.

If you want a passport, that's even more expensive.

And it's a time consuming process, because you have to go apply, get a picture, send it in, wait, get it.

And then you spent money on this in order to vote.

That has been said before.

We'll say it's a poll tax.

It's quite exclusionary.

There's no questions about that.

My friend Jay Heck over at Common Clause Wisconsin yesterday put out a piece that I found to be very interesting.

He did some research here in the state of Wisconsin.

And according to his numbers,

3,269,361 individuals in Wisconsin have no passport.

Greg Bach

Say the number again, please.

3,269,361 individuals living in Wisconsin do not have a passport.

So all of those now will be forced either to get a passport,

or to make sure they have a copy of their birth certificate and the other ID that would be necessary to accompany that birth certificate.

So this is in addition in Wisconsin, our ID laws and proof of residency requirements, they don't go away.

This is on top

of.

And so it will be more onerous for half of the state's population essentially to maintain.

their eligibility to vote.

He also indicated that there are 1,316,546 married women in the state of Wisconsin and those women without a passport, without access to a birth certificate, without access to naturalization papers if they're naturalized would not be easily

registered to vote.

They're going to have to go through the hoop of getting a subsequent piece of citizenship proof to make sure that they can register.

Now, keep in mind, I don't want to be running with my hair on fire here.

If you're currently registered and you do not move, you're good to go.

But there are so many people who are transient.

Think of our military families.

Think of older people who are moving at their aging and they're moving from one kind of facility to another kind of facility.

Think of young people.

You live maybe in two different kind of campus housing units, then you move to your first apartment, you live there a year or two, then you move to a second place, maybe you buy a house in a couple of years.

At each of those junctures, you'll be forced to go into your clerk's office and present your proof of citizenship.

And this is just, you know,

And in my mind, it's a means, a way to prevent eligible voters from easily accessing their voice, their vote, by being an eligible and registered voter.

Jane Matenaer

Absolutely.

If you're just joining us, Deb Cronmiller is here from the Wisconsin League of Women Voters and we are talking about the SAVE Act that passed in the House last week, that will still have to move on to the Senate and get approval in the Senate, correct Deb?

Absolutely.

And the League of Women Voters, if you go to our website and many other voting rights advocates' websites, you will find information on how to contact in Wisconsin our two senators, Tammy Baldwin and Ron Johnson, and let them know that we do not think it's a good idea for this to be passed by the Senate.

And the Senate has the opportunity to stop this piece of legislation from becoming law.

But the Senate has to hear from members in Wisconsin, members in every state of the union that these additional requirements, this, you know, you know, attempt to suppress the vote.

This is not what Americans want.

We want the access to the ballot.

Jane Matenaer

And the unfortunate truth for some is that there is no

evidence of widespread voter fraud.

None.

Wisconsin taxpayers spent over $2 million that we paid to Michael Gabelman to hunt down all that fraud after the 2020 election.

And what did he find?

Oh, wait.

Zippo.

None.

Zero.

There is no reason to increase these restrictions on voting except to stop people who might not vote for them.

Greg Bach

Well, and that was the thing that I wanted to mention, too, is that, well, this is a, this is a nonpartisan discussion, in my opinion, as far as because of its effect.

This will affect people who voted for Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, Jill Stein, Bernie Sanders.

It will

Greg Bach

affect so many people.

We are going to see individuals at the polls in the coming years.

Scratching their head confused not knowing what because like we've said before that everybody has every time every minute in the hour to listen to us and talk about these things so it's important to be informed right now and that important point to say is if you're registered and you voted you're good right now that's good to know

Jane Matenaer

we're to continue our conversation with Deb Cronmiller on the other side we have another listener question for you as well Deb and Jack I see you on the line hang on we'll take you when we return you are listening to Matt Nair on air this is the Civic Media Radio Network stay close

Good morning and welcome back to Matt Nair on air.

Jane Matt Nair, Greg Bach.

Dr. Slide on the board coming to you from our studio here at Radio Park in Racine.

Join us 855-752-4842.

You can call, you can text that same number or leave a comment if you're watching on the live stream on Facebook, YouTube and what used to be Twitter.

We are joined by Deb Cronmiller from the Wisconsin League of Women Voters.

All kinds of questions coming in for you Deb that we'll get to in a minute, but let's go back to the lack.

of voter fraud, widespread voter fraud that one party seems to bank everything on.

It's, there's cheating, there's cheating.

There is no evidence that there is enough voter fraud in any instance to have changed the outcome of any election.

That's absolutely truthful.

And the kind of voter fraud that this SAVE Act is targeting would be non-citizen voter fraud, whereas non-citizens are coming to the polls, claiming they're a citizen and casting a vote.

Well, of all the types of fraud that we know to be documented in the United States, this is like the one that has the least prevalence.

And that's because non-citizens know.

They're not eligible to vote.

Yeah, non-citizens can't produce even the documents needed in Wisconsin to register to vote

right

And so that's a and you risk mean in our Constitution at the federal for federal elections.

It's it's a felony Yeah, you know, and so there's you know talk about being afraid of committing a high crime You know a non-citizen voting

That's a felony.

I mean, non-citizens, by the way, know that.

Greg Bach

I know, Deb and Jane, you have your information, but it just seems like millions upon millions of non-citizens are voting because that's what they tell me.

Yeah,

there's no.

You're being bamboozled.

There it

Jane Matenaer

is.

There is no evidence of this.

And Mike Johnson, the speaker of the House, saying he knows intuitively that this is happening.

Sorry for me.

That ain't good enough, Mike.

Try again.

Here's another question we had from a listener, Deb.

Say I get divorced.

I was asked if I want to keep my husband's name or go back to my maiden name.

If I get divorced and I keep my husband's last name, is that okay to vote?

Yes.

As long as you have one of the, if this would pass into law and it's got to go through the Senate, but if it would pass in its current iteration, you would still need to present a passport.

So if the passport has your husband's name on it and that's you, you're good to go.

Your naturalization papers, if you're a naturalized citizen or your birth

Jane Matenaer

certificate.

And another question I had, Deb, and if you can clarify this, please.

I thought your birth certificate had to match your driver's license, but this kind of knocks the driver's license requirement out the window,

right?

Your driver's license is your proof of identification, not of citizenship.

So what this SAVE Act is trying to do is create an additional layer where you're proving you're a citizen.

So you were born here in the United States, which is why the birth certificate is so important.

And then if your name changes, there's those additional hoops of, you know, my maiden name is different than my now married name.

And so my birth certificate has my maiden name on it.

I was married.

County paperwork shows that I officially went from my maiden name to my married name My current driver's license my current passport have my married name.

So I'm good to go But you know keep those 3.2 million plus people in Wisconsin who don't have a passport They're not good to go necessarily and that's what we want to do We want to ensure that everyone who's eligible can cast that vote

Greg Bach

There was a mention from Cassandra on the live stream about trans folks being disenfranchised by this as well I don't know if we'll have time to get into it But I did in the show notes in our to include an article talking about how the save act will affect the trans community here in America So if we can't get to it, it's there for you.

Jane Matenaer

We're probably not gonna have enough time Oh for that right

Greg Bach

now,

Jane Matenaer

but we'll have you back someone else asked on the live stream Deb Obviously your passport is gonna have to be current.

You're not gonna be able to use an expired passport

correct is my understanding.

Um, and I'm trying to, I don't want to not be transparent.

Jane Matenaer

Oh, we just, she just froze.

We'll

Greg Bach

see if that comes back really quick before that comes back.

Um, go on.

There you go.

We need to pass the Senate and to be enacted into law.

It could be amended.

it could be changed.

So I, you know, there's a big part of me that's like, I know what, what the house passed.

So I'm speaking to that.

What it would look like in his final version.

And I pray there is no final version.

opt in its tracks.

But it could be different.

So we do have to be careful, I think, about implying or saying that, you know, if this now, then this.

Sure, sure.

I just don't know.

Jane Matenaer

Yeah, this is not a done deal yet.

The process is not over, but we're just trying to give people a little heads up.

Like I think now would be a really good time if you do not have a birth certificate, get a copy of your

your birth certificate.

Maybe get

a couple.

If you were born in Wisconsin, you can request a birth certificate from your county of birth.

They'll process that, and there is no cost for that, although you might have to pay for mailing.

If you were born in another state, many states charge non-state residents for birth certificates or certified copies of birth certificates.

So that could be a cost that you would have to incur.

If you want to convert that birth certificate ultimately into a passport, then you have the passport costs on top of that as well.

So this is, you know, as I think it was Greg mentioned before.

No matter how you look at it, could be a poll tax on voters who don't already have these pieces of documentation.

Jane Matenaer

Absolutely.

And real quickly, Deb, so the star that we all have to get now on our driver's licenses in order to go to federal buildings and to fly domestically, that has nothing to do with what is in the SAVE Act.

There are only a couple of states.

who actually connect citizenship to the real ID.

Wisconsin is not one of

them.

So real ID will not help you in Wisconsin.

And it's another problem with the SAVE Act is that it's leaving it up to the states to decide.

which could cause differences between A state and B state.

And that's just another reason for concern.

Jane Matenaer

Deb Cronmiller is the executive director of the Wisconsin League of Women Voters.

Thank you so very much Deb.

We'll have to get you back on in a couple of weeks.

We have all kinds of questions we didn't get around to.

Thank you so very much for your time.

News is coming up next.

When we return, resident young person Calvin explains, stay with us.

You are listening to Matt Nair on air.

This is the Civic Media Radio Network.

Good

Jane Matenaer

morning and welcome back to Matt Nair on air.

Jane Matt Nair, Greg Bach.

Dr. Slide on the board coming to you from our studio here at Radio Park in Racine.

You can always join us, call her text at 855-752-4842.

Leave a comment if you're watching on the live stream on Facebook, YouTube and what used to be Twitter.

Thanks again to Deb Cronmiller from the League of Women Voters.

We had a lot of questions.

We didn't have time to get around to, but we will get Deb back and have her address those as well.

And again,

This is still a fluid thing.

We were talking about the SAVE Act, what this could mean for people voting going forward.

It still has to pass the Senate.

We don't know that it will pass.

We don't know that it will

pass

Jane Matenaer

in the form in which it currently is.

But it's still a good idea, just as a recap before we move on, to get a copy of your birth certificate.

Make sure you have one.

Make sure you know where it is.

Naturalization papers, if that applies to you, or a passport, and make sure that your passport is current.

Greg Bach

And whether you go get your information from the League of Women Voters Wisconsin or myvote.wi.gov, find out who your elected officials are at the federal level.

Congress and senators, call their office, be polite, be respectful, tell them you do not want to see voter suppression become a nationwide problem in this country.

Jane Matenaer

Absolutely.

Because again, despite all the millions that we spent looking for it, there is no evidence.

of widespread voter fraud in this country, and Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.

There, I set it out

Greg Bach

loud.

Oh, no.

Controversial statements.

Jane Matenaer

Yeah, come and get me, apparently.

This is the time of day, the time of our show, where we like to lighten things up a little bit and take a little breath.

We have started calling it Audio Sorbet.

And I stumbled over this article.

as we were putting the show together this morning, because I had no idea what this was talking about.

And it's like, so who do we turn to when there's something going on in pop culture that we're not familiar with?

We turn to our resident young person, Calvin.

Yeah.

Hey, Calvin.

Good morning, guys.

So our new segment is called Calvin Explains.

Here is the headline.

This is so fun.

Jane Matenaer

Minecraft movie sparks chaos.

Wisconsin theater blocks concessions after viral chicken jockey trend.

I had no idea what this was even referring to.

The first thing that grabbed me was chicken jockey.

Yeah.

Jane Matenaer

Cause it made me think about Big Chungus, which is an entirely entirely unrelated

Greg Bach

reference.

Jane Matenaer

Big Chungus, but yes.

Greg Bach

We've been talking about big chunk.

In a long time.

I

Jane Matenaer

know, in a long time.

But anyway, let's go back to the chicken jockey thing, Calvin.

What is this all about?

So first I will give a brief explanation of what Minecraft even is.

Because this is about the Minecraft movie.

Yes, this is about the Minecraft movie, which gets really meta because it's a movie based on a video game.

Right.

So Minecraft, the video game is a sandbox.

survival game where in the standard survival mode you have to gather materials and build things, craft things, and then at night monsters like zombies and skeletons will come out and you have to survive the night.

There's also a creative mode where there's no enemies, you have unlimited materials, you can just fly around and build whatever you want.

Now the movie it stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa it came out recently and There is a scene in it that has gone viral and I will let we'll listen to Good Morning America's explanation fabulous

It's the latest rallying cry for millions of moviegoers

Those two little words, sending teenage fans of a Minecraft movie into a frenzy.

Resulting in screaming, popcorn throwing, and soda flying through the air.

So what is a chicken jockey?

The official definition?

A child zombie who rides a chicken, of course.

Jane Matenaer

Dejoy.

Naturally.

Of course.

So this is an element in the game of Minecraft.

Yeah, so this is an enemy or...

Non-player character you can encounter in the game.

Jane Matenaer

Okay,

apparently in the movie They're doing some sort of like fighting tournament and one of the Opponents is the chicken Jackie and Jack Black like announces it like all dramatically

Greg Bach

like he does

yes, so I'm not sure where the screaming and throwing popcorn and I think that just comes from tic-tac being melting kids brains But yeah, it's

So

Jane Matenaer

now

created a

Jane Matenaer

viral moment right and so now if you go to watch the Minecraft movie When this chicken jockey shows up in the film What's happening is younger theater goers are standing up and throwing their popcorn and making a mess and causing a ruckus And that's what this is all about.

Greg Bach

Please use older terms for kids acting out a hullabaloo

Jane Matenaer

you ruckus makers you ruckus

Is that accurate, Gilman?

Yeah, I mean, that's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Greg Bach

Well, that sounds like to me, I mean, while, yes, they're probably getting this through viral TikTok sensations.

This Jane to me is a something that's rooted in the history of film.

Jane Matenaer

It goes, it harkens back, dare I say.

Yeah.

to the Rocky Horror Picture Show

Greg Bach

when it

Jane Matenaer

was interactive.

Now, when we talk about the Minecraft movie...

From this article it says in theaters when the chicken jockey shows up Yeah, some moviegoers climb on each other's shoulders.

There you go throw popcorn boom spill drinks

Greg Bach

Okay,

Jane Matenaer

and tear seats from the floor that never happened at the Rocky Horror Picture

Greg Bach

also I would be surprised if I can't see a 12 year old with the strength of you know She's you on the live streams as a former theater usher.

I would cry so bad I mean

Okay, I don't condone destruction.

And honestly, if you're not gonna pick up your own popcorn, don't throw your popcorn.

But I love the energy that this movie is providing for young people because they love Minecraft.

That's their thing.

This is- It's a whole world.

And it belongs to a generation of kids.

There's adults who play Minecraft, but it really belongs to people who are maybe, I don't know, Calvin, maybe 20 years old and younger because it's been around for a little while.

But what I really enjoy, and I told you both this before the show, I love how much kids love this movie, but I love even more how much adults hate this movie, because it's not for them, and they're trying to put it in terms of a film.

It's a movie with Jack Black where he screams chicken jockey.

Jane Matenaer

Well, you make a really good point.

Who is the movie aimed at?

It's not aimed at me.

No.

It's aimed at younger video game players.

Absolutely.

But this started as thinking about the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was back in the day, because I went to see it a couple of times when I was in college.

There were interactive moments that just kind of grew up spontaneously as this movie became a cult classic.

So if you were listening and you went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show at one time in your life, what do you remember were the interactive moments?

eight five five seven five two four eight four two there are several of them in rocky horror none of them involved throwing popcorn although there was the throwing of something else yeah eight five five seven five two four eight four two did you go to rocky horror the picture rocky horror picture show

Did you take part in the interactive portions of that film and what were they and

Greg Bach

it even said one of the articles I have in the show notes today is that now they are starting to show The movie that has the participate like like you're going to participate they understand this is going to happen So I could see this movie becoming a part of maybe that I mean granted Rocky Horror Picture Show was a film as a cult classic that failed horribly at the box office.

Yes

This movie I think is gonna go make a billion dollars even though it's supposed to be a really terrible movie.

Oh, yeah, but who cares?

It's a video game movie for kids.

I love it, but It's gonna enter that pantheon of movies that people are gonna see to participate if that's what this becomes like and this is I showed you this too the movie the room I'm not gonna try to explain this film to anyone because I don't have that kind of

Ram in my brain, but just look up the room movie and it's the same idea people go to midnight showings They talk to the screen.

I don't know if they throw anything, but there is definitely a legion of fans there

Jane Matenaer

She's you on the live stream says throwing footballs happened a lot during screenings of the room.

Yep.

Greg Bach

Yeah

But I kind of love that.

I just like that tradition.

I love that.

Because it breeds memories then.

You go with your friends to go see the thing and do that thing and some of you could talk about later on.

Jane Matenaer

Am I the only one who went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show?

8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2.

There we go, Mike from Green Bay Toast.

Yes.

Yeah.

Toast.

There was toast involved.

People would bring pieces of toast.

Okay.

There were squirt guns.

Okay.

And newspaper?

Yes.

Greg Bach

During the reigning scene.

And you'd yell at the, the, the screen.

There's like lines, you would yell, like they would say something you call, they would call back and respond.

Yeah, you would respond back.

Now they do full blown, like plays on stage.

Oh yeah.

Acting out in front of the screen.

Exactly.

Oh yes.

Exactly.

I mean, I don't know how they'll do that for Minecraft.

It's a pretty CGI enhanced film, but.

that might mean even better because people have to come in costume.

I don't know, I just, I really want this to happen because I just love the idea of 13 year olds going to a movie and just getting out there.

Jane Matenaer

Brian from Milwaukee is on the line.

Good morning, Brian.

Thank you so much for joining us.

What did you want to say?

Good morning.

Yeah.

No, one of the, the funnest experiences I ever had was right after it came out was actually going to rock the order.

at the Oriental with a bunch of friends that were very accepting of everything.

I was like, oh, you're going to have fun.

And I was so nervous.

I'm like, I do not want to go do this.

And they're like, oh, no, you're going to be fine.

You're going to love it.

And that was the thing.

There was people in costumes.

They were selling packs with the rice and the squirt guns and everything else you could participate.

And I think that was the thing that when Fox Network did their live version.

They also made an interactive version to tell you when to toss the rice at home, when to do the squirt guns, when to do everything, to kind of give you that.

So if you haven't seen the Fox version of Rocky Horror Live, watch it because it's actually a lot of fun.

They try to take what was the movie and the live experience and put it into one.

And I think that's why it worked so well.

Jane Matenaer

Cool.

That's really cool, Brian.

Thank you for sharing that.

Really appreciate it.

8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2.

There was toilet paper involved.

Great, Scott.

Mm-hmm.

And then you throw toilet paper at the screen.

Greg Bach

So it is just as messy probably as... Unless they stay behind and clean up.

Jane Matenaer

I would hope.

Greg Bach

Yeah.

Jane Matenaer

Again, I'm hoping.

Yeah.

I know I didn't stay behind and clean anything up.

Sorry to all the movie ushers.

who may have been involved.

But it is this generation's Rocky Horror,

Greg Bach

interactive film.

Jane Matenaer

Yeah.

Greg Bach

And that's fun.

Also keeps making the company money.

Jane Matenaer

PJ during the Rocky Horror picture show audience members traditionally through various items like confetti, playing cards, newspapers, toilet paper, and rubber gloves.

to take part in the show.

Troy is on the line real quickly, Troy.

We're up against the clock.

What did you want to say about this?

If somebody says to me, that's not all bad.

I still say that's not all brand either.

Jane Matenaer

Troy, thank you so much.

That is a beautiful bow on the end of that segment.

Great Scott.

Janet.

All right.

When we return, we're going to wrap up the show with this shouldn't be a thing.

Today, it's the giddy up edition.

If you're watching on Facebook, YouTube, and what used to be Twitter, coming up on the show tomorrow, Representative Mark Pocan will be joining us right at the top of the show.

Greg Bach

Yes.

Jane Matenaer

He's a busy man.

Greg Bach

Very busy.

He is a busy man.

Jane Matenaer

Doing governing stuff.

Doing governing things.

Many, many things to discuss with Representative Pocant tomorrow, including the Trump administration's apparent refusal to follow the advice or the ruling of the Supreme Court.

Yeah.

To bring back this man from this prison in El Salvador.

Greg Bach

Yeah.

Jane Matenaer

They can't

Greg Bach

do it.

Well, they can't do it.

I mean, they can't

Jane Matenaer

do it.

Greg Bach

It's not that they don't want to, James.

They just can't, they can't do it.

Jane Matenaer

Okay.

Yeah, we're going to talk about that with Representative Pocan, among many, many other things.

If you have a question you would like us to ask him, by the way, just email it to janesaysatcivicmedia.us, J-A-N-E-S-A-Y-S, janesaysatcivicmedia.us.

In hour number two tomorrow, Lisa Schiller will be back from the Better Business Bureau.

I don't think I'm the only one in the last two months.

The number of texts I have gotten about my overdue toll fee.

Wow.

I must get three a day.

Greg Bach

Last night we did our taxes.

I know, right on time.

And one of the things they had to tell us is that the IRS will never contact you via text message or via phone.

It will be via letter.

Jane Matenaer

You'll get it in the mail.

Greg Bach

And so never fall for that, ever.

Jane Matenaer

But Lisa Schiller is going to be here to talk about the latest scams.

Because there's always a new one, there's always something going on that we should be aware of.

So join us for that coming up in hour number two.

Right now though, just about 11.54 Kelvin, that means it is time for...

This shouldn't be a thing!

Jane Matenaer

Today, Calvin found this one, he's on a roll.

This is from WBRZ, investigative in-depth ABC channel number two.

Adam Burris with David Hamilton with the byline, the headline reads, four accused of riding horse through Walmart arrested.

One says horse was for emotional support.

The Baker Police Department arrested four people who they say rode their horses through a Walmart on Tuesday night.

Video posted on social media showed the four on horses riding through the Walmart in Baker.

all were arrested after they turned themselves into the police.

That had happened by Friday morning.

They all turned themselves in, faced the same charges while considering they put it on social media, which made it much more easy for them to identify you.

That was probably

a

Jane Matenaer

good idea.

But one of the writers said, that was my emotional support animal.

Both this man with the emotional support horse and the three other juveniles

are now facing charges, including disturbing the peace by violent and tumultuous manner.

Unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity.

I didn't know that was a thing.

Unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity.

Greg Bach

This

Jane Matenaer

is a relatively new thing.

Greg Bach

Well, also, I mean, but it uses what feels like old timey language.

You know, it's like no to riot notoriety.

You want

Jane Matenaer

to be famous.

Yeah, of course There is a video element to this that we will include in the show notes if you want to take a look It was just a couple of weeks ago.

We talked about the guy with the emotional support Tigers Yeah,

Greg Bach

he had seven of them.

It's

Jane Matenaer

seven.

Yeah, seven of them

Greg Bach

I think at that point you really should seek therapy if you need seven anything for emotional support you should talk to

a therapist.

But yeah, yeah.

Jane Matenaer

And do you remember going back a couple of years ago, there was a woman who tried to bring a peacock?

Yes.

Oh, yeah, through the airport.

Yeah.

Because it was her emotional support peacock.

I think we're

Greg Bach

gonna

Jane Matenaer

pushing we're pushing those boundaries.

Greg Bach

We are and it makes me feel bad because it's like I'm like, I don't

care about your feelings and if it's a peacock, like it can't be that bad.

Jane Matenaer

Well, and for there are legitimate reasons why people have support animals, especially dogs.

Yes,

Jane Matenaer

which I think are they're wonderful and they're amazing and and very, very useful.

But

Come on, you guys.

You just wanted to ride your horse through Walmart and put it on social media so you could get some yucks.

Greg Bach

Just say it.

Just own it.

You already turned yourselves in.

Why add?

Jane Matenaer

Why add?

Yeah, why add.

Don't make it worse by saying it was for your emotional support horse.

Greg Bach

It makes it harder for everyone else out there with some emotional support horse.

Jane Matenaer

Absolutely, it does.

That wraps up today's episode of...

This shouldn't be a thing.

Jane Matenaer

As we said, coming up tomorrow, Mark Pokan will be here in hour number one and then Lisa Schiller from the Better Business Bureau in hour number two.

Hope you can join us for that.

Thank you, Greg and Calvin and all of our engineers because without you, nothing works.
