It is Monday.
Lots of things going on.
Emily Zefos, who is the chair of the out of gamey county Democratic Party.
We'll be joining us at 1033.
There was a big outpouring of support in the community for a number of Haitian refugees who have special humanitarian status, which was revoked by the Trump administration.
So we're going to talk to Emily Zephos about a recent demonstration that happened in northern Wisconsin.
After the 11 o'clock news, the NOAA cuts are coming.
We've talked about this for several months.
This was a big part of Project 2025.
They don't want anything that goes against their climate.
Change to nihilism?
Yeah.
There it is.
That could be it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They don't want anything that is going to make it look like we are responsible for the changing climate.
So let's just cut research.
That's always my first thing, Jane.
When I don't want things that go against...
my personal police get out there, I say, make sure that no one can find out.
Yeah, exactly.
Let's just remove it.
Perfect.
Yeah, let's just cut it.
We're also going to talk about child care cuts coming to Wisconsin.
Of
course we are.
We talked to Karine Hendrickson about this a couple of weeks ago.
We're going to try and have her back on.
Yeah.
Child care is a critical issue, not just in Wisconsin, but all around the country and yet.
Fat party of family values doesn't seem to value childcare workers very much.
Well, they have some really awesome suggestions for you ladies really great suggestions.
Just
stay home
or do it for free
Jane.
Go do it for
the good of your community.
Take care of your neighbors, neighbors, babies for free.
Sure.
I'd be happy to.
She's looking at me like that.
She's mad.
Next hour after 11 30 we will lighten things up as we always do with our segment that we now call audio sorbet We're gonna talk about if you talk to yourself And what do you say?
I was Having quite a discussion on one side of discussion with myself over the weekend when I was working in the garden And I'm fairly certain my neighbors now think I'm nuts So I'm looking to you to reassure me that I'm not the only one
Who talks to myself?
Do you talk to yourself?
And what do you say that's coming up after 1130?
Keep it FCC friendly,
please.
And then we will wrap it all up as we always do with this.
It shouldn't be a thing today.
It is the blown away edition that Calvin found.
It's a dandy.
It is a dandy.
So stick around for that.
Also, if you ever are unable to listen live.
Yes.
And we're going to be changing our time slot next week.
We're going to be moving from 9 to 11 instead of 10 to noon and you have a life and you have things you're doing and you work and you take care of your kids and your parents and all that stuff.
If you are not able to listen live, no problem.
You can also always listen to the podcast.

This shouldn't be a thing tis that as its own individual mini episode as well.
It gives you the exact.
Beginning and end of our coverage of this shouldn't be a thing, but you can also download that as well.
So go to your favorite podcast distribution center of choice, subscribe.
If we're doing a great job, give us a five star review.
Cause I'm not kidding you.
That actually does help push us up in searchability,
even put us into
the ratings.
If we get enough people.
But only if a five-star review is necessary.
If we earn
it.
Anything under five-star, especially those two and one stars, you're going to send that to kelvin.spicy at civicmedia.com slash angelfire slash complaint department.
Super easy to get to kelvin.
It's a non-fillable PDF form you're going
to fill in.
It's
great.
I did want to start off with this.
We kind of switched gears a little bit as we were coming on the air, but I think this is really critically important.
and it's very, very disturbing.
Today, Donald Trump is meeting with the president of El Salvador.
He has been in the U.S.
from what I've seen since Saturday.
Now, El Salvador is the country where the Trump administration sent Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an immigrant which Homeland Security admitted it arrested and extradited to a president in El Salvador because of a clerical error.
Ironiously yes sent this man Kilmar Abrego Garcia to this prison in El Salvador and now the Trump administration says well we can't get him back Yeah, he's there now, and it's a sovereign nation Saturday Thursday the Supreme Court ordered all nine of them
That is one of the most important things to say I believe in that in that in that point of the discussion it is nine to zero this isn't
liberal forces.
No, this is this is simply like, I mean, a simple decision nine to zero.
How often Jane, do we get unanimous decisions from the court?
Almost never.
There
you go.
On Thursday, in an unsigned unanimous decision, the Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration must facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Saturday, the Trump administration responded to this decision by the Supreme Court by stonewalling.
the district court judge and then saying it can't facilitate his return because he's now detained by a sovereign nation and the U.S.
cannot exert any influence.
He is meeting with the president of El Salvador today.
Why couldn't he have just brought this man back with him?
The article that we are referring to right now will be in the show notes and this is not a matter of Well, we can't step on the toes of a sovereign nation we must respect the the freedoms of other countries and their leaders make no mistake about this and I want to get his name correctly his name is Naib Bukele who is their president I believe their leader the president of El Salvador He is a crony to Trump
He is not a guy who's going to sit there and thump his chest going, you can't tell me what to do.
If Donald Trump wanted him here, he would be here.
He would be here.
This is not a matter of stepping on the free.
This was a, as Jane put it, a clerical mistake that every judge, every lawyer, including the Supreme Court justices have said, this is, this is no good.
It must be done.
And so to push this narrative of, well, we can't schedule all the planes are full.
Can't do it.
Can't, can't make it happen.
And Jane, I want to ask you a question.
What does Donald Trump, like it's been admitted by Homeland Security that was a mistake.
So the mistake is like that's done.
Right.
And Donald Trump doesn't even say we made a mistake.
In fact, he could take all the glorious credit.
What stops him from saying, we brought him back.
He's here.
And I told El Salvador, I feel like it can only be a win for Donald Trump.
There is no losing version of this.
Oh, see, and I disagree.
because bringing him back, it means they would have to admit that they made a mistake.
They already admitted, have done that though.
That's the thing is, if they've already admitted the problem
and he can blame- It was a clerical error.
And he can put the blame on other people, he can say blah, blah, blah, and he is great right and undeterred and infallible, but I don't see a version of this that makes him look, the only version that makes him look bad to everyone is if he continues to do what he's doing now and going, there's no updates.
Who do you-
What are you talking about?
Cassandra on the live stream says people get extradited from sovereign nations all the time.
Yes, they do.
And this should be a concern for everyone in this country.
Yes.
Everyone should be concerned if our government can say, yes, we made a mistake.
We accidentally sent this person to prison in a foreign country.
Yes, we made a mistake, but.
Oh, too late.
Nothing we can do about it now.
We're also a country that in the face of overwhelming evidence, both DNA and otherwise, we will send people to the gas chamber and electric chair and let them die instead of admitting we were wrong.
John from West Band texting in, listening on WAUK.
Why didn't Kristi Noem bring him back when she was there?
I mean,
yeah, she was, she was just there.
posing for pictures.
It was disgusting.
It was disgusting.
It was so disgusting.
It's like she's cosplaying.
And that's another thing too, is I will continue to do this until we have a viable dialogue on the topics.
But if you are a supporter of Trump, isn't this something you can get behind where everyone is saying that this was wrong?
It was incorrect.
This is just a, this guy wasn't leading marches down the street.
He was, it was a mistake.
Why can't we get it back?
This does damage more damage to our credibility as a country because If it's this guy
Who's next exactly who's next and why would you think it will never affect you?
Why do you think it will never this is never gonna touch you because you're not an immigrant because you're white Where because you voted for him because you voted for him
We've seen what happens to people within his own administration who do not follow through to the letter.
They get tossed to the side.
They get tossed to the side.
They're being investigated.
Chris Krebs.
And also, let's not forget, just in the less than three months he's been in office, we've seen story after story of individuals who have lost their job due to these cuts from Doge.
who said, well, I voted for him.
I wasn't expecting this.
You've seen people getting deported saying, I voted for him and I live here.
We are seeing so much of the ramifications of his administration falling on the heads of those who support him.
We'd love to hear from you.

It is April 14th.
That makes it Milwaukee Day.
Oh, that's right!
It's the 414 Milwaukee Day, and there is a great deal for you today, Dan Schaefer.
Creator of the Recombobulation Area and also Civic Media's political editor.
There's a sale right now.
You can subscribe to the multi-award-winning Recombobulation Area for 30 bucks for an entire year.
I think I'm gonna do that right now.
They're giving you 41.4% off to honor 414-day.
So as opposed to $50, normally a $50 value, only $30.
Nobody breaks down state politics.
like the group at the reconpopulation area.
No, and if you, I'm saying this to you for realsies, if you're one of these individuals who says, I don't know what's going on with the candidates, I don't know what's going on with my elections, I don't really, and they're having a hard time with your choices on the ballot, and you don't want just us or other talk radio people or newspapers made to tell you what to do, Dan Schaefer puts together every election season, one of the most comprehensive,
deep dives on all state politics.
And it comes from a place of knowledge and information.
It's not about bias.
It's about telling you who the candidates are, what they bring to the table, pros and cons.
And you can make a decision off of that.
But this is an extensive amount of work he puts in.
It's laborious.
I love that word for you and us.
So it is, I mean, for the, for the political breakdown alone, it's worth the
money, but 30 bucks for the whole thing.
Such a deal.
Such a deal.
So come on subscribe today to the recombobulation area 30 bucks in honor of 414 day Milwaukee day April 14th Right before we went to the break.
We were talking about the Trump administration's claim now
then it can't not get this man back from El Salvador because it's a sovereign nation and we can't do that.
Although Christie Noem over the weekend was saying, we have a great partnership with El Salvador.
We're going to continue to send people to this prison there.
So it does seem like we have a partnership with this country and we should be able to get the man back that we sent there by mistake.
It seems like a partnership and where a simple request can be made.
If the president of El Salvador says, no, I'm a sovereign nation, you can't have it.
That's a totally different topic.
We're paying them.
Yeah.
But to say there's no update, it's absolute bunk what they're doing right now.
And it has overarching ramifications on our immigration, deportation, and just your garden variety.
Who's an American type of discussion point here in this country?
Who's American enough?
But also the other thing too is...
We can't ask because they're a sovereign nation I didn't see anyone in the Trump administration having a problem disseminating and pushing the notion that we would somehow take over Greenland and Canada last time I checked Canada is pretty sovereign.
I believe it is
very sovereign
Yeah, very sovereign just like Greenland just like Greenland.
We are partners with Canada But it hadn't they had no problem saying well, we'll just we can take them over so stop with this
We can't do anything about it exactly please eight five five seven five two four eight four two That's eight five five seven five civic bill from economy walk is on the line.
Good morning bill Thanks for so much for joining us.
What do you want to say about this?
With all the departations are moving these people El Salvador Where you are that we excuse me Democrats as almost a Republican standing up and say show us the documentation
You cannot, you know, there's a certain laws that they're breaking by not due process.
Absolutely.
We should demand as a nation all the documentation on each and every prisoner.
And if we don't get it, we keep pushing it till we do get it.
And we don't do anything else till we get it because that's the beginning of a dictatorship run wild.
You're not wrong, Bill.
Thank you so much for checking in.
This should disturb all of us.
Yes.
So every single person in this country should be very, very concerned about this.
I don't disagree with
it.
Jack from Miramaque also on the line.
Good morning, Jack.
Thanks for joining us.
Good morning.
Yeah.
Well, first of all, the Roberts court, instead of saying the Trump administration should facilitate the return of Mr. Arboretto Garcia.
They already should have said, this man is legally in the United States.
He followed every single road you said you want, followed.
He's not a criminal.
You admitted this is a mistake.
He's a family man.
Bring him back now.
No excuses, and we don't care if you have to send Air Force One to do it, just do it now.
But this intransigence from Trump is about more than just a mistake and refusal to reverse that mistake.
There are two more important things to this administration.
One is keeping this in the limelight.
It's continuing to stoke xenophobia.
But the second thing, which is even more nasty, is he's saying to all of us, this can happen to you.
So who better follow the line?
You better not do anything that
criticizes or irritates this administration because we'll just toss you out of the country and then we'll say, oh, we can't get you back.
Yeah, you're absolutely right, Jack.
And that's why I think everyone in this country should be very, very concerned about this.
Yes, this man is an immigrant.
But as you said, he has no criminal record.
And the administration admitted, the administration admitted they mistakenly sent him to this country.
And now they're saying, whoopsie, nothing we can do about it.
If they can do that to this man, they can do it to all of us.
And you know where his concern is?
He wants the January 6th traders to get repaid for the damages that they had to pay out when they attack the capital.
That's who Donald Trump is concerned with.
Last time I checked, I would probably come out of...
That's right, my pocket, because I'm a taxpayer.
Pretty much.
So now we're giving reparations to traders?
They're
patriots.
They're heroes.
That's where Donald Trump's concern is the people who attack the Capitol, not people we are sending out of the country by mistake.
We have news coming up next.
When we return, Emily Zeppos will be here.
Stay close.
You are listening to Matt Neer on air.

She is the
Chair of the Out of Gamy County Democratic Party, Emily Zephos is joining us.
Good morning, Emily.
Thanks for making time for us.
How you doing?
I'm doing well.
Thanks for having me.
I'm glad to be here with you all this
Monday.
Absolutely.
I wanted to talk to you in particular because you were there.
This headline is from the Wisconsin Examiner.
Trump and to the humanitarian parole hits Wisconsin town where Haitians are part of the community.
This is in New London, Wisconsin, right, Emily?
Now we can't hear you for some reason
No Emily if you want to call into the studio we can do that instead I'll give you the number 8
5 5 7 5 2 4 8 4 2 8 5 5 7 5 Civic if you want to call in Emily and we can continue this on the phone She's in the car and so we are having some connection problems, but yes
The Haitians were admitted to the U.S.
through a humanitarian parole program in response to the deadly violence that's been happening in Haiti for, unfortunately, it seems like decades.
The newcomers became part of the community.
Immigration attorney, Mark Christopher, who lives in New London says, quote, their children go to school with our children.
They worship in the same churches.
They eat at the same restaurants.
They join the same civic organizations.
They're in the gyms.
They're our friends.
More importantly, they're our coworkers.
They're a part of our community and part of our fabric.
And we welcome them, unquote.
This sounds almost exactly like Springfield, Ohio.
Yes.
Last year.
Yes.
These are beloved people contributing who love being there.
Yes.
And are doing the work.
And Emily is on the phone right now.
But just to read your point.
They're doing everything you ask them to do.
They're here legally.
They're doing the work.
They're contributing.
And for whatever reason, it's now not good enough.
The refugee program through which these Haitians came in includes a work authorization.
More than 100 of them ended up working at a Tyson food plant in New London.
Really glamorous jobs.
Oh, yeah.
Processing and packaging chicken.
Yeah.
Others went to work in stores in the community.
or in other jobs.
But late last month, the Trump administration told more than a half a million people from Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
They are no longer welcome.
The Department of Homeland Security terminated humanitarian parole for over 500,000 refugees from those four countries.
Asia's in New London were among those covered by this order that came out March 25th.
They were notified
through an online account that every one of these people get through this program.
Emily is back with us now on the phone.
Emily, when you were at this protest in New London, what kinds of things were you hearing from folks?
Yeah, I'm sorry about that.
We gathered there about 40 people, so all of these folks were from the New London and surrounding area.
And we were there, like, kind of in solidarity.
Like, I'm sure you can understand it was a lot to have asked anyone on this program to show up publicly to make any noise about this.
But really, it was not only addressing the humanitarian issue that this is and the fact that these folks are the ones that came here legally.
They've been working, as you mentioned.
But also it's an economic issue for companies and businesses like Tyson who suddenly have 30 days and they're seeing up to 10% of their workforce go away.
So really it was a community gathering together to say, hey, what can we do?
How do we found the alarm on this?
And it
was really heartening to see people show up at 7 AM to call attention to the changes to this program and the issue for their community.
Was there any pushback that you heard?
I'm curious, were there people coming out saying they're eating the cats and dogs?
Oh, no, there wasn't that there.
I mean, of course, there's pushback online.
We had quite good media coverage for it, but really it was countering with it.
You know, these people are dreaming of starting their own businesses.
Their kids attend New London School District.
They've been working hard at Tyson and really we're trying to, you know, again, demonstrate to them and reaffirm the fact that these are folks that came here through a legal program.
And that's the kind of immigration we should be supporting.
And that, you know, we kind of counter with that.
Well, and there are all, as we were just saying before you joined us again on the phone, there are all kinds of requirements that these people have to follow in order to stay under the umbrella of these programs, including work requirements.
And I'm sure they aren't, if they commit a crime, that is going to jeopardize their status.
And I think it's important to note, and as we had some immigration lawyers that were there as well, these people were vetted.
They have, you know, a lot of these folks on this program in particular have financial sponsors that are usually church groups that have, you know, agreed to support them in their own communities.
And so, again, this is a program that works, and it was the sudden, you know...
the dissolution of it that was really alarming to us and to that community.
Emily, I know there are a lot of people there and I know you couldn't possibly have spoken to everyone, but something we're always trying to find here in these conversations are the individuals who say, you know, there are people out there who support this topic, these immigration and making sure people stay here and people who voted for Donald Trump for whatever their reasons are.
I have to imagine a group that big.
There was somebody in there who say, yeah, this is not what I wanted.
This is not what I voted for.
I love this community.
These people are here legally.
Did you get any sense of that whatsoever?
People who said like, yeah, I voted Republican, but I didn't think this was going to happen.
We did I mean I didn't we didn't have anyone say that outright But I will say there was a gentleman from down the road that saw that there was a little bit of a hubbub on the corner So he walked down at 7 a.m.
And he said what's going on here?
And I kind of explained it to him and he was a Republican who said that he did vote for Trump and kind of went into the whole You know open borders kind of thing and I said sir to be frank with you this again was a program that worked it was
They came here through legal means and they're contributing to your local economy.
These are folks that are raising their families here and everything.
And we had that conversation after.
So that was somebody that wasn't privy to this information, didn't really understand it, kind
of
lumped immigration in general into that open borders, kind of scaremongering that they do.
And it's up to us in our own communities to be talking to those people and say, actually, here's the nuts and bolts of it.
Here are the facts.
Right.
If you're just joining us, Emily Zephos is our guest.
She's the chair of the Out of Game Democratic Party, and we are talking about a protest that was held in New London recently after a number of members of the community, they are Haitian immigrants, who started arriving in 2023 under a legal refugee program.
That is what is important here.
went through this program.
They got the authorization.
They were cleared.
They had background checks, all of those things.
And now, at the end of last month, the Trump administration comes out and says, yeah, well, no, we're doing away with that.
Now you all have to leave.
What recourse, Emily, do these folks have at this point, if any?
As of last week, we were really trying to work closely with
the immigration lawyers that work with that community and really like they're explaining to us was you know we can for those that would qualify we can apply for asylum but that's really like kind of a long shot because that process is so long and they came here under a different program but there was they were ordered last week to not deport anyone by that date so this is something that we saw after I think this Friday that news came out that this program in particular
They said to the administration, you cannot put these people on a deport list because they were under this legal program.
So it's actually, they've been stayed for a little bit longer.
So that gives them a little bit more breathing room.
There still need to seek out legal, you know, recourse and assistance so that we can make sure that.
you know whatever happens down the road they're supported and ready but right now they've got a little bit extra time so that's great but it is about like working with our through your local immigration attorneys that are privy to this and we're trying to offer assistance like whether it's through paperwork and translation to make sure that they can get any of that paperwork done make sure that they're you know
able to make ends meet, making sure that they still have their jobs at Tyson, and all of that kind of stuff will be important down the road too.
855-752-4842, if you would like to join the conversation.
Cassandra on the live stream says there have been zero legal issues with these people.
Prior to this order coming down, we have locals that cause a lot more problems in this community than the immigrants.
And the thing that makes me very...
Scared, nervous, whatever you want to call it is we're talking earlier on the show about Kilmara Brego Garcia, who, as we know, was deported to El Salvador.
You have these, you just spoke about how you're saying, don't put them on a deport list.
Don't, don't do these things.
We're trying to make sure they're, they're taken care of.
I mean, but we also see now that it just doesn't seem to matter.
If you request demand, say, this is the legal process, this is the law, they're going to say, if they say, no, sorry, go.
That's where we're at now at this point.
We're no longer in the processes of immigration.
It's just, what are they feeling on a Tuesday?
Well, and again, we just assume that the Trump administration is going to follow these edicts from the courts, and that isn't necessarily the case anymore.
Yeah, and I think it's important too when we're seeking out, making sure they have all of the options available to them via the legal channels and how things are supposed to work, but also holding at the same time.
that we're not living through normal times.
And so what does it mean in communities like this to show up for your neighbors and stand in solidarity and protect them?
Like it's, you know, for us, it's making sure that we know exactly what and what Packard County just agreed to work with ICE.
And so what is that community going to do to support these people that, you know, on a Tuesday, they might decide, eh, well, we're going to go for it anyway.
Yeah.
Lori from Hayward texting in, Trump and his press secretary have both stated they are looking at deporting US citizens who have broken the law to El Salvador, who decides what laws and how carefully will they look before people are disappeared to jails in other countries without due process or legal help.
Again, that's Lori in Hayward.
That's why we started off talking about this case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
And being shipped off to El Salvador, even though the Trump administration has admitted they made a mistake.
It was a mistake.
And now they are claiming, well, El Salvador is a sovereign country and we can't if we go in there and ask for him back.
Stephen Miller said over the weekend that would be kidnapping.
He's always great to listen to speak.
I love him when he talks.
God, I mean.
And, but, but that's where, you know, that is where we, you know, we, we want to say thank you to all the people up there who
are
standing up standing up and showing that this is a community.
I mean, this is what we saw in Springfield last year in Ohio, a community standing up to say, no, these, these aren't, these are our neighbors, our friends, our family.
We love them.
And at the end of the day, whatever happens can happen, but it's not without a fight.
And you are one of the people helping to lead that fight.
Yeah, I think it's like that's the most important part right is like we can't if we quietly let these things happen and we just say oh well It's our role and our responsibility right now I mean we had teachers that had those have those kids in their classrooms and local business owners and Veterans and everybody saying this is not you know It's not right and I think across the board no matter where you are look for the ways This is hitting in your own community and get loud about it because let's go down kicking and screaming if that's what
happens absolutely Silence is acquiescence.
Yep
Silence is acquiescence.

We are joined by Emily Zephos, chair of the Out of Gaming Democratic Party, and we are talking about New London, Wisconsin, and a group of Haitian immigrants who were admitted to the U.S.
in 2023 under a humanitarian parole program, the legal refugee program under which they were admitted, requires that they work.
And yet, at the end of last month, the Trump administration told more than a half a million people from Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela that they have to get out.
855-752-4842.
Cindy from Appleton has been waiting very patiently.
Good morning, Cindy.
What do you want to say about this?
Well, this really disturbs me whether they're natural-born citizens or not.
they are not getting their due process.
And my question is, when they're done with the people that they deem not being here, should be here legally, when are they going to start picking on the rest of us, like the poor people and the old people and people they just don't want here anymore?
This starts at the bottom and works its way up, so we all need to be concerned because we don't know who's next on the list.
Absolutely, Cindy.
Thank you for calling.
And that's why I wanted to talk about this to start off with this morning.
If you think this kind of treatment is not going to affect you or someone you know, I think that's very naive.
It was naive before the election happened.
People are finding out now.
And they're gonna continue to find, I mean, Emily, who is our guest, spoke about in the last segment how she had to talk to a gentleman who just equated Haitians in the city working and contributing to open borders.
And the question is, when will, I hate to say it in this way, it's so cliche, but when are they gonna come for you?
And Emily, unfortunately, a lot of it depends upon where people are getting their information from, right?
Right right and I think like we have such I mean a unique and incredible and heavy responsibility right now because it is about Trying to break through that and I think like the way to break through that is to bring it home and to say these are people in your community You know and and whether we're talking about like this Tyson situation in New London or the Foundry and will pack up like there are different businesses across this entire state and we need people to Sound the alarm to break through that message and to remind people
that this is the legal immigration you wanted.
Like these are people that came
on your server that
you wanted.
You can't conflate or convolute the two.
Well, and it would be also refreshing to hear the heads of some of these companies coming out and speaking out against this.
As you said, Tyson in New London is the one of the employers who has been employing these refugees.
And I would think it would be incumbent upon them to come out and say, hey, these are our workers.
Leaving them alone.
Right.
I mean, you'd hope.
And frankly, we're not seeing that.
I think part of what is happening here, when we talk about the snowball that is going at an increasing speed down the hill, we need those people to be loud, especially in those in positions of power.
So businesses to stay and stand up for these people.
And if we don't.
There's no stopping it.
And it's really about educating the people and getting as loud as you can in whatever capacity and whatever networks that you can to work those things and say, hey, this isn't right.
It hasn't been right.
We need to stand up.
Well, and as we said too, even leading up to the most recent election, Emily, it's about share what you know.
Because again, if folks are only watching one source of media, Fox, they're not getting the whole picture because they're not.
It's about talking to your neighbors, talking to folks you go to church with, talking to kids, to the parents at baseball games and stuff like that, and sharing what you know about what is happening.
They might not be the easiest conversations to have, but as we say nothing, then we are part of the problem.
Absolutely.
Emily.
We've only got a couple of minutes left before before we got to go to the top of the hour news.
I'm wondering how you're feeling about Ben Wickler's announcement that he is stepping down as the head of the Wisconsin Democrats.
Yes, big news came last Thursday.
I believe I am grateful to the work that Ben has done and what he set up for all of us.
And I know that across the board we are anxiously awaiting.
a new chair this coming June and are hopeful that that person really understands, I think.
the current climate so that we can employ those of us on the ground, that infrastructure that exists across the state to be as effective as possible this year and with everything that's going on with the Trump administration and then subsequently in 26 and 28 so we can really build, including those of us on the ground and really be stronger than we've ever been before.
So really appreciate it, Ben.
Really excited about some of the candidates that have already thrown their hat in the ring and I look forward to seeing the full field so we can make an informed decision.
It's going to be interesting.
It really is big shoes to fill.
Yeah.
Big shoes to fill because Ben Wickler has
really done amazing things here in Wisconsin.
Just like you, Emily Zippo's chair of the out of gamey Democratic Party.
Thanks so much, Emily.
Really appreciate your time.
Yeah, thank you.
Have a great day.
You too.
