well especially rick last year uh... they lost Ohio State they did not even make the playoffs this year they were with the expanded field and i'll bob i'm with you he had a good back end the last season

to clean some things up, but this behavior, how they belittled him and Sartese and Holly Rose, she's one of the best female reporters in the business, in my opinion, and he won't even do a video apology.

six of those losses have given up at least double or triple-digit leads in the fourth quarter.

They can't close.

You let the Carson Wentz on how he's like Wentz when he came out of college.

He had some good years.

But basically the journeyman, third-stream quarterback, he hasn't threw an NFL pass in close to three years.

He comes off the bench and makes you look ridiculous.

How ugly is it getting, especially with their friends of ours, the Lambo French painters?

Yeah, like I said, it was interesting.

You know, the turpent started Sunday night and naturally continued through on Monday when we're here.

And you know, you have the people, it's like, you know what, it's one game.

Let's be mad.

but let's keep things in check, you know, it's one game out of whatever they play, you know, 17, 18.

But then, just like you reiterated to, we're going on, what, game eight of this happening now, where they haven't won, and, you know, people are getting itchy, and, you know, quite frankly, when Gluckens and LaFleur got their extensions, I believe they were last year on the radio talk shows, you didn't hear too many positive comments on that kind of stuff, on that.

And now you throw in the mix that they've got a new El Presidente in Mr. Policy.

So there's...

I don't know how safe anybody is.

Sure, it's a lot of money, you know, and they have to go through a board of directors to make big, big calls like this, but people are getting a little itchy.

The way they lost that game is not setting well, and especially to a division rival.

Well, not only losing, they're viking.

I think it's a good team.

I love O'Connell, the coach.

Quite frankly, I think the division is up for

grabs.

Oh, absolutely.

I mean, you know, when it's coming out to bench, the division rival, basically a third-screen quarterback, probably seven weeks.

And then, again, Jordan Love, me and Samba Legion, he was on my show Tuesday, touching on it.

Jordan Love is a very good quarterback.

Just like good teams compete, great teams find a way to close.

great quarterbacks don't make mistakes at critical times every game brick i've said me and you talk about this as well he reminds me of a good goaltender to make four or five vote daddy seems critical points of games though there is one or two weekers that change the whole reflection of the outcome of what's going on and again i i really think he's a good quarterback i think he reached his shelf i really don't

Both have big games this weekend.

But I talked to you last week when I was coming back from one of my numerous medical appointments.

You used to be one of the head officials in Wisconsin High School.

You told me about a call that was made a couple weeks ago in a high-end game, I believe with Kokon or maybe it might have been Bayport.

But tell our listeners about one of the delay game calls that was called in a high-end Wisconsin High School football game involved in Bayport.

i still can't believe this

yeah it's uh... you know down here we're fortunate that uh... on friday nights one of the local stations carries the the game of the week and i don't know if some of you remember john minow who was on the green day uh... radio station or radio and tv for many years down here he's originally from the god he had talked to many times at the game the great guy entertaining and you know it was like it was a tour three friday's ago and i like to just sit and watch him and i'm getting ready tucked in and

and the game of the week was

baport i call it baport university in green bay and can't believe down in the valley down by appleton in the last three years they each have one division one state title under their belts to finna phenomenal program so it's like this is going to be fun and game starts they they brought in a crew from uh... season crew down from milwaukee and uh... start watching the game and you know naturally after doing that for so many years you focus on the officials for a while okay they know what they're

you know, not like I was perfect or anything, but it's just natural for you to do it.

And all of a sudden there's, they get into the game, and I can't remember if it was in late first, early second quarter, all of a sudden, well, a dead ball follow, and they go, okay, what happened here is that couldn't have been the 25 second clock, you know, it wasn't a false start, I didn't see anything.

Also, they called it the way a game, and I believe it was on Kimberly.

Forget this, Jim, a drone violation.

Yes, the things in the air.

I mean, when I, you know, this is my third year being out.

The drones weren't part of it.

You know, we had started getting the TVs on the sidelines.

They always had the telescoping whole cameras in the end zones, but we didn't have the drones.

But yes, there was a belay a game for a drone violation at a high school football game.

can't make it up but with the air with the air flight called in for surveillance or anything?

Well, I heard some afterburners in the background.

It was kind of faint over the TV, but yeah, I believe they were.

Yeah, it was like, wow, it's come to the point where the poor fellows are having to, and ladies are having to officiate the aircraft.

Years ago, if that happened up here, the late Jerry Bugney down in Lodge, you can go to the Salonies in Hadcock, Ron Warner's down in Lakeland, and even the crowsie up in Calumet.

If any of those guys seen a drone flying over the stadium, within two minutes, someone come out of the park a lot with a muzzle loader, that drone would be in a thousand pieces before the rep could get this way, go prop, we up here.

Corey, how has he been playing this year?

You know, we've had a lot of really tough competition.

So we've been winning most of the games that we expected to win.

But overall, you know, six losses at this point in the season is a lot more than we're used to having.

But yeah, we're bringing it together.

I think the team's starting to play our best soccer.

So we'll see what happens.

Coming off a match with Dodge Point the other night.

How did you play at home

Tuesday night?

Yeah, it was a good game.

We won 2-0.

Honestly, it could have easily been sick.

So we definitely had a lot of opportunities.

We progressed well.

We got into the attack well.

It was a good game.

Probably our best game today.

What do you expect from Richland Center tonight, Corey?

I expect them to bring it.

Whenever we come here, they're going to be fired up, and they're going to come at us.

So I think we have to make the adjustment from turf to a football to a used field.

So we need to just keep the ball moving.

You know, I think it'll be a good match.

That's what I think.

Do you have a lot of leadership, a lot of veteran players this year

on the field?

16 years.

Yeah, no, definitely our senior lead team for sure.

You know, captain, goalkeeper, Dylan Perry, who is soon to commit to Central Iowa.

That's exciting.

So, yeah, it's a really fun group.

That's what I would say about this group.

What do you say about the conference?

Who are the teams to chase this year as far as the league title is concerned?

I think Platteville could team to beat again.

Just like the last couple of years for sure.

They're having a very good season.

They've played some tough teams in one.

They're an organized team with some good attackers.

It's going to be a tough game when we play them.

I know everybody else has had trouble with them so far, so we haven't played them yet, so we'll see.

And you always get a good following on the road, of course.

It's a close road game for

your fans,

but

you expect pretty good support here tonight.

I hope so.

I wouldn't say it's been amazing so far, but we have been traveling.

A lot of our travels have been pretty far.

So yeah, I hope so.

Playing the late game, the 7 o'clock birthday game.

I think I hope we can get some get some noise in the stands tonight, for sure.

Do you like the seven o'clock start to read your other play the first game at five?

No, I would prefer to play seven.

Unfortunately, I don't really have the numbers.

It's not easy for us to play JV first.

So it's better if I play varsity first, JV second, but they requested it.

What are the keys if you're going to get a win here tonight over Richland Center, Corey?

I think the keys are we play smart on the back end, don't give up anything easy and just fine feet, keep the ball moving, play to spaces.

Like I said, it's a slow field so we just got to make an adjustment from playing on turf at home to playing a more open game where we have to play to spaces, run to the ball, less tiki-taki.

The solar field helps the poor old radio announcer, because the turf's a little faster.

Coach Stadler joins us, Richeln Center soccer.

Well, Coach, as you look at this point in the season, how has the team been playing through the first month or so?

We've been competing well.

We've been scoring goals in almost every game.

We lost to Riedsburg recently, but Andrew Mada scored a fantastic goal.

And so despite the loss, we have some bright moments.

Looking at that, what are some things the team has to improve on, Tom?

Well, defensively, we need to mark up.

And marking up is a great tool as defense.

And we'll see if we can do that tonight against River Valley.

What do you know about the Blackhawks?

Well, we've had a great rivalry over the years.

And this year, I think it's going to be one of our better matches.

I think we're evenly matched with them this year and expect to have a fantastic game at home.

What can you do in terms of comparing scores?

Because they've been fairly similar with some of the teams they've

played and you've played, right?

Yeah, that's correct.

You know, I think they beat LaMaira 2-0.

We also beat LaMaira.

You know, I think that early in the season, scores don't carry as much gravity as later in the season when the teams have really established themselves.

For instance,

We have a new player who's going to be taking the pitch tonight in Ashton Buick.

Ashton's a junior and he's exceptionally fast and talented.

We're excited to add him to our roster for the evening.

Absolutely.

And how has the JV been doing so far this year, Tom?

Oh, boy, the JV is a blast for Coach Clark and Coach Crock to coach.

There's so much good energy and talent at that JV level.

You know, they're figuring out what players should play and what positions, but the JV, they've had good matches.

We're hoping for a victory for them as well tonight.

With your team, have you got everybody in the places that you want them to be where you think you can be the most successful?

Yes, we ran the offense and defense last night in a light scrimmage.

And I was very pleased with the ball movement.

Andrew Mada in the midfield with Cody Pauls is a fantastic combination.

And so looking forward to it.

Any sidelined or any injuries for tonight's contest?

Thankfully, no, we're looking full strength and everybody's up to speed.

In fact, I was just telling Coach Bailey, I think this is the most healthy team we've had in years going into this evening's rivalry match.

Yes, next weekend we have our home tournament.

I'm not sure that that was in a spot where there was any any contact So Stoltz, I believe will come out of the lineup And the Hornets look for a quick substitution

Good numbers for Richland Center Soccer this year, around 30 players at the start of the season, and I believe they have picked up a few others.
