You know, the first hour, uh, you know, I spent talking about the lack of empathy in our nation and, um, not just by Donald Trump and his minions, but even amongst a lot of us who just don't seem, uh, to have any compassion.
or tolerance for the human beings.
That can't be a good thing, man.
And I prefaced it all at the beginning of saying that part of it, I think, can be attributed to the fact that there are less and less people who, you know, in some kind of organized religion.
Say whatever it is you want to say about organized religion, but what organized religion did in many instances was kind of,
made people realize that it's more than them.
You know, they all had their own books, you know, and, you know, be it the Bible, the Torah, the Holy Quran, you know, whatever.
They had their own books and so people were able to follow some direction and guidance.
as far as what humanity was all about and the importance of it and organizing society.
But man, listen, let's people engage in church.
And, you know, and so if it's, you know, and if you're in the wrong place, you certainly can be headed down the wrong path.
But.
We just gotta get beyond this, man.
We gotta figure out a way to get back to a time when people had some compassion and concern for other people.

I've been listening to your shows and I really agree with you.
But the downfall of
what we have was growing even before we even knew it in the 1960s.
White America decided to leave the cities for the suburbs because of civil rights.
And those of us who stayed, who wanted civil rights, who wanted equality were the ones who stood up.
We walked the walk and we talked the talk.
White...
America, who fled into the suburbs, turned to societies like the Federalist Society, which groomed the Supreme Court, many of the Supreme Court candidates of today, who follow Trump.
And this is the problem.
The problem is they never learn to love each other as we did, as we did.
staying in the city, sending our kids to public schools, and teaching our children that everyone is equal in the eyes of God.
And this is the problem, because now we have the white America who thinks that they're elitist, that they are better than us.
But we have to rise up.
We have to come together.
And like they did on the weekend, we protest.
And we continue to protest and we take our country back from these Federalist Society white elitist.
And in my mind, and I'm sorry to say this because I don't like to call names, but to me, they're on the same side as the Nazis.
So from me to you is that we have to rise up.
We have to show them that we are compassionate.
We love our fellow man.
And I don't care who you are, where you are in society, we must unite.
And that's how I
see it.

You know, in the twinkling of an eye, we're gone, right?
Death befalls all of us.

But now a lot of that is gone.

I get out every morning like I'm right now and I walk 10 miles a day.
But the thing is, I see people on the street.

We have gotten so, and it makes you feel good when you connect with someone.
We have AI now.
We have automated services for everything.
To me, it's the downfall of what's happening in our society.
If you look at a simple thing like the iPhone, they call it the WePhone, they call it the iPhone.
Me, me, me, me, me.
Also, on top of that,
People do not take personal responsibility for anything.
You do not see people putting their carts away at the grocery store.
No.
You do not see people picking up trash on the street.
I mean, it's like you'll have, and I don't know where these young kids, some of these young kids are learning it from.

two inches away and they're throwing it on the ground like this is me I can do this and it's like you know I don't understand that because all it is is hey two for two points maybe you'll make a shot there in the garbage can you know something along those lines but there is an interconnectedness that makes us human and the more that we get away

This is a way for our young people to get out there and meet like-minded people.

We need to get our young people out so they feel welcome in

A lot of times, special needs people feel less than in our society.
Well, at our special needs prom, they don't feel any of those things.
They feel normal because what we'll be doing is making sure they feel normal.
We'll give them their opportunity that people don't look at them with a John this high.
They can be who they are.
Inside of the cruel society that they live in, people are so callous they walk right past them.
As if they don't exist, that's the kind of society I'm talking about.

And quite frankly, I think that's what separates us in this, I don't know, broken two-party system.
you know, a lot of us understand empathy, understand that, you know, people power is all about empathy.
But the other side of who's in power now, they're using the people to be exploited.
There's no value.
It's whatever they can take from other people.

Look at the position that they've put our young people in today.
They're fearful.

What we see is we see a group of people that are all about exploiting, all about taking as much as they can, including money from people that don't have them.

The economy was rocking.
The problem is the sizes of the pie need adjusting.

from all these right wing networks that are cohesive.
They're in tune with each other in order to take as much as they can and then still want more.
No, no, empathy is what it's all about.
That's what this nation was founded on.
We care about each other.
We look over each other's shoulder as neighbors, as in the community, but that's the last thing.
that these conservatives want.
They want us divided so they can conquer us for sure.

And to say that we're going to cut the food for many human beings across the globe.

And most of the Americans don't feel the pennies that may come from us, that feed the rest of those people around the world, man.

Why would anybody think for a moment that a child has any chance of learning anything if they're going to school hungry?

So, you know, for the $5 a day that would cost to feed children, look at the return on investment would be in the long term.

And so people can only see through their own.
Lens and so they can't fathom somebody else's lens and something could be different Then there's yeah, I'm successful Why can't everybody else be you know me I me me I I?
Topped off by a man who we have the most powerful man in the world who's taking that even
leaps and bounds further than anybody else before him.
And so, you know, where do we get off?
When does sanity come back into play?
And when do we start seeing our fellow man as, you know, equal?
Because guess what?
We are.
We are all equal.

That's what renders us equal.

I just called Tony Weed's office because I'm very concerned about our social security check stopping after this month because he's cutting everything.
I'm concerned about this.
I'm asking her if I can get the letter stating that this is going to continue, that our social security will continue into perpetuity like it's supposed to.
She started laughing at me and told me to have a nice day.
and basically hung up the phone.
I mean, I'm a constituent concerned about my freaking livelihood.
And she laughs at me like I'm some crazy woman and hangs up the phone.
Well, this is
our legislator.
Well, you know, Cindy, that's why those people should all pay a price for disavowing what those who voted for them.

and
I know but this you know, but but you know, there's some people who did they weren't just your question was not predicated on Just the response from a Democrat, right?
It's everybody on social security including Republicans Right, I think that's the insanity in this whole this whole thought process.
Well, you as a Democrat calling asking no

So she doesn't have enough sense to understand that.

Yeah, uh, working healthcare for a good chunk of my life.
And, uh, when I was working at one of the companies I was with, uh, I was doing some online training videos, you know, when you start working for a corporation, that's usually how that goes.
And one of the training videos was on empathy.
And I literally busted out laughing during the training video in the back office.
And little did I know that the district manager was standing right there.
And he said, if there's something funny with your video, and I said, yeah, you guys are seeing her trying to teach empathy to healthcare workers.
I said, either you care about it or you don't.
You can't teach someone empathy.
You know, I didn't go into healthcare.
to make a good amount of money.
You know, I wanted to health care because I care about people who want to make a difference in their lives.
You know, and he had nothing to say to that.
You know,
Brian, that's the thing, either you care or you don't.
Brian, you said people can't be taught empathy.
And you and you know, and I never thought about it until you said it.
But I think they can be taught empathy.
It has to happen before their adults.
It has to happen in stages from birth.
That's the way it used to be done, right?
But if somebody's becoming an adult and they lack empathy, you are correct.
It's almost impossible to teach it.
It has to be done in the early stages of life.

say that I am agnostic at best because of the way I see people who believe in the Bible treat others.
And especially, I noticed this before this last election.
I'm like, we're the ones who are teaching them what the Bible is about, but they call us godless.
Now, I know somebody who I just talked to her for the first time since the election.
And she talked about how happy she was that these people were being shipped down back to South America.
And I thought, and how does that affect your life?
How why does that make you happy when you lose your Social Security check?
Your husband loses his veterans benefits.
Are you going to go back and just be happy because all these people are being made miserable?
So, you know, the women who and girls who want abortions or the the gay trans that those people date.
care more about that than they and you know the lbgtq people i think they're like 14 percent of the population but these people don't care about what the corporations are doing to all of us the poisoning and you know just the corruption and everything that affects everybody but they care more about these minorities that aren't hurting anybody and i mean she was
she was going on about oh well abortion's bad but we shouldn't have welfare so okay these women are going to have these kids but you don't want to feed them you don't want to help them um these it's bad to get to have all these these foreigners in the country that's horrible well if you're going to be pro if you're going to say your pro life you have to remember that they're alive too and she said but
Well, if I was down there, I'd probably do the same thing too, because I'd want a better life.
So where does that say in the Bible, you know, the whole hate your neighbor and, you know, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
So there must be a lot of self-loathing people.
Well, you know,
you know, you know, Lori, you said a lot and I can't disagree with anything you said because, again,
You know, when people are so judgmental, right?
You have no right to judge anybody.
We have no right individually to judge anybody.
But we feel so emboldened because we've forgotten the fact that we are sinners, just like the rest of other human beings, we are no better.

We are not, we've never been, but we walk around as Americans with our heads held high in the sky.
And, you know, we are better.

of the color of skin that I came here in.
So the thing of it is when a person hates another person simply because of the color of their skin, that's a disease.
That's an illness.
And if they want to bring their Bible in, I asked the pastor one time.
I said, the Bible said, love that neighbor as thyself.
And I said, they flip-sided that if you hate yourself, will you hate your neighbor?
These people that hate, they really hate themselves because you can't give me something, Earl, that you don't have.
And if you don't have love in your heart, you can't give me love.
If you have hate in your heart, you're going to give me hate.
So the thing of it is, is like you say, in the end, we are all equal.
We all were born.
We all going to try to live here and we all going to die.
So we need to recognize that and try to figure out a way to get along and make life better for all of us.

If I could say about empathy.
Yeah, I can still remember the glee I heard in at least one of your MAGA callers' voices when you had asked them what they felt about some of the things our current president has been doing that has been directly hurting people and experts have said will literally kill countless human beings worldwide, exhibiting that lack of empathy to even be excited about some of these things.
I could see where, well, that's what happens in this, that and the other, trying to explain it away and explain away your vote, but to actually express
excitement and glee over it was kind of thickening, and that's why I can remember it.
But I don't think we should also overlook the impact capitalism has on our ability to extend empathy.
But I also believe that, at least from people that look like me, live like me, a lifetime of racist, xenophobic, nationalistic conditioning that landed here along with that first boatload of enslaved Africans has created conditioning for us to look the other way, that cognitive dissonance.
And you can hear it in people's reactions to events when they don't believe it will impact them, their family, or their community directly.
It's like, yeah, well, that's just the way it goes.
I think it's also important to remember, like you said earlier, and I think when your callers brought up, that empathy, much like hate, it's not innate.
It's taught, it's learned, and it must be constantly reinforced.
Tom from LA also made a great point, and that connectivity is a big part of it.
And this is why I've realized that government forces oftentimes are creating enforcing laws that literally keep us segregated for that reason, because solidarity through empathy is powerful.
They don't understand it.
So
all they know to do is just to deemphasize and destroy it.

I think I've been listening to most of what you've been talking about.
You said to me the other day that you were at Lackland Air Force Base.
When you went through that basic training, one of the primary thing they taught us, it was about identifying your enemy and destroying them.
And you make the other's enemies to the point where they're not human, they're basically objects, and your job was to destroy.
That's what you were trained to do.
And in this country, we have been identified as the enemy.
But just like I said the other day, part of my family is American India.
We were here before they got here.
They made laws against us.
And basically they have implemented those laws, but
All of this garbage that they teach is not taught in the schools or in the streets.
It's taught in their homes.
They come out of their homes with this identification of us as enemies, and they try to do everything they can to destroy us.
So the word empathy is a taught situation, but.
The thing that they taught us military people to do was to identify the enemy and destroy them.
That's the basic premise of white society.
Hey Al, what I will say is that what they misunderstand, those who think that way, the people who will be suffering the most.
aren't the people of color because we only make up 12% of the population with this mentality.
No, that's the black population.
That's not true.
There are more of us than that.
Well, 12
to 14%.
Oh, you're talking about all people of color.

All people of color is almost 50%
of
the country.
Well, yeah, the majority.
We're not the majority yet.
