The Earl Ingram Show · Wed Apr 2, 2025

Good morning and

Earl Ingram

welcome to the Earl Ingram Show.

As always, you can join us at 855-752-4842.

That's 855-752-4842.

You can text us at that same number.

Hey, good morning to you, Cardi.

How you doing, man?

Man, good morning to you, Earl, man.

Great news, man, but I'm gonna let you go ahead and tell everybody about that great news.

Earl Ingram

Well, anybody who doesn't know, you know, is on their way to the morgue, and they didn't make it last night.

But, yeah, you know, a resounding victory.

Actually, a thrashing.

When you lose,

by 10 percentage points in a state Supreme Court race that was for all the world talked about as if it was a toss up.

And the fact that a hundred million dollars was spent.

Yeah, it's a thrashing.

It was not even close.

And it actually represents a lot of different things.

that I want to talk about this morning.

Our phone lines are open at 855-752-4842.

855-752-4842.

Hey, you know, the phone lines are open, call in, tell us how you feel about the outcome of the election.

Is it a surprise?

You know, it is definitely a surprise to me.

in some way shape or form.

In another instance, I don't think it really is because what does it represent?

So I keep telling you, man, I've been around a long time.

And so I remember Scott Walker and the reforms that Scott Walker ushered in.

And this is basically closing the door.

on 15 years of pain that many of us had to suffer in this state.

And at the root of it was Scott Walker and Republicans controlling the state Supreme Court who rubber stamped everything that Scott Walker and the Republicans wanted to have done.

They did major damage without question.

Did major damage that many of us are struggling to overcome today?

You know, I live in Milwaukee and I'll tell you something there was 800 million dollars That was going to be spent in the form of plant that I worked at for 34 years in a neighborhood that I grew up in

and it was going to allow high speed rail to travel from Milwaukee, you know, Chicago and other places.

And a lot of that was going to be produced at the old A.L.

Smith plant that I worked at for 34 years in a community that died after, you know, the A.L.

Smith plant.

was shuttered and sixty five hundred workers were were basically at one point in time at that facility that stood for over a hundred years and offered you know middle-class jobs to people like me you know right out of high school and allowed us to live the American dreamboat

The neighborhood died and so this was an opportunity as The federal government and the state government We're going to revitalize that but no Scott Walker and his movements Turned away eight hundred and sixty million dollars federal dollars

that would have revitalized that area and ushered in high-speed rail.

And so because of a, you know, Scott Walker, he turned that away.

And Republicans, well, we don't think we should be taking that money out.

Guess what?

Chicago took the money, California took the money.

Other cities other states took the money Yes That was Scott Walker Not to mention actin not to mention all sorts of other horrible things It turned away money for health care federal dollars

Those horrible horrible horrible times Hopefully with this destruction of Brad Schimmel We can start you know putting an asterisk on those Scott Walker reforms Education reforms expansion of vouchers and the cut

and public schools, all of those things are on their death bed now.

So yes, and hopefully, you know, with the outcome and with this thrashing, I was listening to, before we go through the phone lines, I was listening to conservative radio as always do.

And I was hearing them say,

Well, the Democrats use dirty tactics they lied on Brad Schimmel How horrible was it all the lies they told what?

Hey, man Look in the mirror Who lies anymore?

Then the Republican Party in these elections Well, you know, maybe what we should have done is we should have gotten

down and dirty like the Democrats did.

The only people who could have believed that the Republicans weren't down and dirty were blind and deaf people who didn't see the commercials or hear them.

Republicans lost, hopefully, because some people came to their senses in this state.

Who voted for Donald Trump?

Well, you know, it's because Elon Musk, you know, I Keep saying Okay, so if it's because Elon Musk, you got to say Donald Trump He's the puppet master to Elon Musk Let's stop saying it's all Elon Musk Let's go to Jim from Brookfield phone lines are open eight five five seven five two

48, 42.

Let's hear what you have to say.

Hey, good morning, Jim.

How you doing, man?

Good

morning, Raul.

Earl Ingram

Good

morning, Cardi.

Very good morning.

I think last night it was proven that chain saws, cheeses, and checks do not...

five volts in Wisconsin.

And we

should be very happy and very pleased this morning.

And I think a big thank you should go out to all the individuals, the canvassers who went out and bad weather got doors slammed in their face, but got out the vote, all the people that mail postcards made phone calls.

Those are the individuals that deserve a huge thankful thank you.

And, you know, it should take credit for this huge win.

I obviously did not vote for Mr. Schimel and don't agree with his policies.

However, I would like to say he did show some class by standing before the voters.

He stood up at that microphone.

and conceded, and he also called Susan Crawford, unlike Mr. Eric Hudvey, and unlike Mr. Scott Walker, who neither, those two did neither one.

They did not face the voters and concede, which takes a tremendous amount of courage and class, nor did they call their opponent and wish them well.

So I think Brett Schimmel should deserve a little bit of a...

acknowledgement on that and going back to your initial intro Earl regarding Scott Walker and that high-speed rail not only did he turn down millions of federal dollars for that high-speed train but he actually had to use our taxpayer dollars to pay the company that made some of those cars over there at the Hill Smith plant they were already made.

And he still turned them down and we had to make a settlement out of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

It was in the tens of thousands.

I think it was south of a half a million to pay off the company that made those those cars and I believe they were sold to another company or I mean another country rather.

But you know none of that those federal dollars that we turned down came here to Wisconsin didn't save us any money.

We lost that it all went as you mentioned earlier.

You

Earl Ingram

know what Jim Jim you're right.

Togo is the name of the company.

And you're right.

They had already produced two sets of trains.

They were employing people with middle class jobs, like the one that I worked for 34 years and Scott Walker and Republicans killed it.

And then, and then turned around and forgotten and ushered in.

What is the name of that place, man?

Right outside of Racine that they

The ninth wonder of the world Foxconn.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah, Foxconn So, yeah, man a lot of lot of horrible horrible things That happened in this state under Scott Walker and Republicans and at the root of it was them controlling the state Supreme Court

So that's why, you know, the accolades for all the people who voted did all the hard work, as you so aptly stated, is due.

Thank you very much for the call, Robert.

I mean, Jim, always great hearing from you.

Always great.

855-752-4842.

Your thoughts about the outcome of the election?

I get it.

You know, the entire world doesn't change.

But I can tell you here across the state of Wisconsin, that's a shot across the bow.

Finally, 15 years later, that maybe the Republican stronghold is on its deathbed, at least in the state of Wisconsin.

855-752-4842, you're tuned into the Earl Ingram show.

you

Earl Ingram

Back to Daryl Ingham sure as always you can join us at 855-752-4842 Texas at that same number phone lines are open your thoughts on the outcome of the election yesterday But carter you had a couple excerpts from the victor.

Oh, yes Miss Susan Crawford.

Oh, excuse me justice Susan Crawford.

Let's go.

All right.

Here she is

I'm so grateful to have earned the trust and support of voters across this great state.

And I'm here tonight because I've spent my life fighting to do what's right.

That's why I got into this race.

To protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of all Wisconsinites.

Earl Ingram

Let's go ahead.

Thank

you for trusting me to serve you on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

This campaign has been an incredible, life-altering experience.

In so many ways.

Earl Ingram

Well, let's do this man because we

know what we know what she'll be doing for the next

Earl Ingram

We know what she'll be doing for the next 10 years Let's go to Brian from Milwaukee.

Hey, good morning to your Brian.

You say what?

Good morning guys.

Yeah, um, you know, I'm relieved if anything About the result to think a lot of us are the one thing that got me was yesterday

I kept hearing that wonderful ad from Donald Trump, you know, for a Brad Schimel that just made me want to vomit, like every 15 minutes I heard it, because it was just BS, you know, for BS.

And I really do, you know, think that a lot of people within the last two months who just fed up on both sides, Republican and Democrat, depends to like or just fed up with everything that's going on and came on to no.

We're not going to stand for this.

You can't buy our state.

We've had enough.

And, you know, this morning I noticed that a lot of people who I do know that are mega supporters are quite upset with the election results.

And they're cussing and swearing and everything else.

And it's like, and, you know, I said to one of them, I said, but aren't you guys, you know, the people who supposedly on January 6th had this wonderful day of love.

And now you come out this morning swinging fists, you know, fists up and swearing and cussing and everything else because you're not satisfied with the lecture results.

It's like, come on guys, you know, it's time to, you know, to move forward and realize that, you know, democracy is not going to be bought in our state and your party's dying,

Earl Ingram

you know.

Hey, Brian.

Hey, Brian, thank you very much for those words.

Thank you very much.

Tom from LA, you're up.

Good

morning, Earl.

First, we the people ultimately are the government.

And I think you guys showed that yesterday.

Also, this is the opportunity right now.

If anyone is courageous enough to run for office out there, to run on one issue, and that is to get all money out of politics.

It's an area that we all should be able to agree upon, whether you are on the left, the right, the Republican, the Democratic, the Independent, whatever it is, nobody should be bought off.

And I hope that Susan Justice Crawford actually starts coming out and becoming a warrior to get all money out of politics.

I also want to say before I go that what would this election have been like if we didn't have civic media?

And I'll tell you what, civic media, I believe, has made a huge difference in the state of Wisconsin.

And Sage Wilde and before that, Mike Crute, with the Devil's Advocate, have made this thing into a reality.

And just thank you very much, Civic Media, for actually bringing Wisconsin back to...

Maybe friends being friends and family being family again, because honestly, I think you are making it where we can all discuss politics and we can agree to disagree.

But we should all agree that money and politics is at the root of all of this evil and corporations don't own us.

We the people are the government and we need to restore government back to we the people and make government great again.

Earl Ingram

All right, Tom, thank you very much for the call.

855-752-4842.

Guys, hang on, your reflections on the outcome of yesterday's election on the Earl Ingram show.

557-5248-42, that's 8557-5248-42, text us at that same number.

Yes, the outcome of last night's election, especially the Supreme Court seat, but also the Department of Education outcome.

I'm wondering if it's a repudiation of Republican policies.

You know, you may say, well, how can it be Donald Trump just one?

But I remember saying As much as I heard Democrats say we've got to clean the house Democrats.

We've got to change everything that we do we've got to Refocus what it is how we run campaigns and I remember saying hey, you're lost by 1% Okay

for all of those who wanted to throw the baby out with the bathwater, you know, this, what the Democrats were able to pull off this time, it's same policies.

I mean, it's the same thing that they always do.

They just organize and got people out and not to mention some of the people who wound up voting for Donald Trump did not vote for, you know, Brad Schimel.

The numbers, the numbers reflect that.

I mean, they really do.

Maybe people learn their lesson.

Hopefully that's the case.

Let's go to Tom.

Good morning to you, Tom.

You say what?

Good morning, Earl.

Uh, first off, uh, it's a beautiful day.

Just a gorgeous day.

Um, I, uh, the Talgo trains, I was 100% for that.

I, you know, right wing radio was, was on that.

Saying that you could go this is far get there.

This is fast if you took a car But you know Europe does it and it's very do it all

Earl Ingram

over the world man.

It's all over the world.

They do They do even like the streetcar the hop million rides last year How can you you know it's obviously working?

But with with Crawford I got um I get for some reason Walker is on my Facebook feed

And he's saying there that CNN gave them half-rate advertising, and that's one of the reasons why they lost.

But in the comment sections of this, how can people who voted for Trump turn around and vote for Crawford?

Bizarre.

She's going to ruin the Supreme Court in Wisconsin with her wacky ideas.

Homeowner property owners.

Small business owners better get ready for assessments bloated at best.

And it's a little on and on about stuff like that.

There are some, you know, pro Crawford in these comments, but I'm still lost at the CJ type people who are just so dead set on on all of us and think this is the right way to go.

And I really believe that when.

The tariffs really kick in that people are going to be in for a rude awakening, but they're probably going to blame Biden and Robert and all this.

So Tom,

Earl Ingram

we're going to talk about the tariffs in the next hour, man.

Thank you very much for the call.

Excellent.

Let's go

Earl Ingram

to, let's go to Mark from the set prayer to set.

Good morning to you.

Mark, your thoughts.

Yeah, thanks.

Thank you so much, Earl, and thanks for recapping Scotty Wanker's disasters.

I mean, the opportunity cost lost there for the trade.

And let's turn to the broadband.

We could have

had broadband

across Wisconsin if we would have taken the money back then.

And Scott Walker was not doing that for the people of the state of Wisconsin.

He was doing it for himself so he could run for president and appeal to the conservative Iowa voters on there because he thought that would kick him off.

So he just screwed his double for his own...

useless purpose.

And he was on the trail there with Brad Schimel.

I saw him walk alongside Brad Schimel and some of the little clip and Scott Walker, it was just a kind of a despicable human being as, as is, you know, that Brad Schimel had some, I heard that on yesterday afternoon on Civic Media where Brad Schimel was giving this little Annie, don't worry, he's bragging about taking down his eight year old daughter, you know, reducing her to tears over some little fib, she had told.

And

Who the hell brags about something like that?

I mean, it is just, you know, the thing that came to mind is, you know, Christine on bragging about shooting a dog.

I mean, it just is, that's not the kind of thing you brag about for God's sake.

It's not the kind of thing you do either.

But I mean, Brad Schimel is, hopefully, he'll be cast aside and hopefully he will fade away into obscurity.

I mean, I heard him say, oh, well, I really didn't want to run for this, but I felt I had to, well,

know, you're an ambitious little man and you decided, you know, this has been on your, you wanted to do this all along and probably you thought you'd springboard this into the governorship as well.

And I'm just happy.

I couldn't help but think of the old Beverly hillbillies and granny clappers thing.

I got the joy, joy,

joy

down

in my heart.

And so I'm pretty, I was pretty happy when I heard it last night.

I slept, I slept quick.

Let me

Earl Ingram

ask you, Mark.

You know, you've been a guy who clearly is politically astute and those kind of things.

So, I mean, you know, we had to suffer, you know, for 15 years with Republicans controlling this state.

It looks like that's coming to an end.

Your

thoughts?

So I think in the next election with with fair districts, we're going to We're going to see well the

Earl Ingram

maps the maps are going to change completely now

Yeah, the maps are going to change completely now and hopefully they'll get around to re-predate doing the redistricting on the the house seats because yeah Massly cherry-mandered as well.

I mean that the district that I grew up in is the fur, you know the up in the northwest part of the state There is now it used to be a pretty solidly, you know

democratically district and all we got Tom Tiffany toxic Tom Tiffany and I think that We're in for a world of hurt now with Trump getting rid of We're gonna reap the full harvest at Donald Trump and getting rid of

Earl Ingram

people So much so much so mark we are getting to all that the next hour.

Thank you very much for the call, you know, you're right The the Republicans are concerned because they could eventually wind up losing a couple congressional seats

which they should have never held in the first place.

Let's go to Mike from Kenosha.

Hey, good morning to you, Mike.

You say what?

Good morning.

Good morning.

A huge relief, to say the least, a much needed win for we the people and people power.

Just think about it.

A girl from the little town of Chippewa Falls beats the richest man on earth.

And that doesn't get any more Wisconsin than that, but I will tell you hats off that people showed up.

It was a huge record turnout and that's what it's going to take continuing forward.

You know, people responded finally and I want to thank the people of Wisconsin for showing up.

It made a difference and it will continue.

to make a difference going forward.

One of the things that Winkler, the spokesman from the Democratic Party talked about was the hard work it took to get people to the polls.

And that's absolutely a correct statement.

It didn't happen by accident.

A lot of people took a lot of people to donate a lot of time and energy to get this candidate.

Earl Ingram

Mike, do you think it's a repudiation?

of Republican politics in this state?

I do.

I absolutely believe that.

And I think it's critical, therefore, that we seize the moment and strike while the iron's hot, so to speak.

It's time to go on the offensive.

It's time to take over the messaging.

And it's time to hold the curtain open for the Wizard of Oz that's been hiding behind it.

the GOP in this conservative movement for the last 40, 45 years.

Truth to power will get us there, Earl.

And in now's the time, I know it's motivated me to step up.

You know, when I see 2 million Wisconsinites go to the polls yesterday.

And I know it's motivated you as well.

It's absolutely going

Earl Ingram

to take.

You know, Mike, no question.

Thank you very much for the call, my friend.

Julie from Kenosha.

Good morning to Julie.

You say what?

Oh, hi, Earl.

It's Julie from Jackson.

You know, I lived a long time in Illinois, and being Republican in Illinois was kind of, you know, always depressing because you knew that, you know, nothing was going to change, and a lot of people didn't vote.

I think Wisconsin is, I think the Wisconsinites should be really proud of themselves.

that we had such a big turnout and that it's refreshing to see that, especially after we're all kind of tired of these elections and all the politics that goes with it.

I think the money in politics is awful.

I think it just proves that you can't have some rich guy, no matter who it is, come into a state that he doesn't live in.

and act like he's gonna, you know, get people to vote.

That's actually kind of a turnoff, I think, for everybody.

I don't know how we stopped that.

I don't know why J.D.

Pritzker can, you know, donate to the Wisconsin, you know, to Susan Crawford.

I don't know why anybody out of our state can donate any money to our races.

I think people are sick of it.

We're sick of the stupid commercials.

We're not dumb.

Earl Ingram

Hey, hey Julie do are you aware that it is a Republican Party that?

Opened the door for money in politics

Are you aware of that I know but but but

Earl Ingram

they did it

Yeah, I don't care Okay, but they thought it's been going on like nobody's stop, you know, just keeps going and going I don't care who did it.

I'm not I'm kind of in the middle here.

I don't

Like I said, it doesn't I'm not fighting the Democrats.

I'm not fighting you guys because I have different opinions.

It's you know, we're all in this together.

This is our country.

Earl Ingram

You know, you know, Julie, you know, and and I would I would say that as a person who watches Donald Trump and what he's doing and Elon Musk and what the Republican Party is doing right now.

I wish that we got people to understand that before we got into the Quagmire, we're in now.

You know, we are facing some unprecedented times in this country.

Go ahead.

I agree with you.

I hear your point, but it's also three.

Everybody just needs to, I always say, take a yoga breath.

And I know, you know, you don't like when even when Sandy says that you got to sit back a little and see what happens here.

We're not things aren't going to change from four years of, you know, one party and then a new party comes in to run the country.

It's not going to be overnight.

And that's another thing American people aren't stupid about.

Hey, Julie,

Earl Ingram

it's happening.

It's happening overnight.

It's only been it's only been three months.

Tell me tell me tell me a good thing that's happening that I should be excited about

well

Earl Ingram

That

that Republicans

Earl Ingram

and Donald

Trump is doing Okay, we should all be excited that the border is becoming safe and people aren't dying Trying to come over here illegally.

That's number one people were dying crossing coming over illegally trafficking people

People dying.

That's number one.

Then the illegals coming in not coming in correctly.

That's changed.

I can go on, but I hear your music.

Okay.

So

Earl Ingram

well, thank you very much for the call, Julie.

You know, I would say to you that that that innocent people are being taken hostage by our government and taken to nations and being in prison just because of what they look like.

Not a good thing.

8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2.

You tuned into the Erling Room show.

I'm

gonna make a change for once in my life.

It's gonna feel real good.

Gonna make a difference.

Gonna make it right.

chemistry.

Earl Ingram

show as always you can join us at 855-752-4842 855-752-4842 let's go back to the phone lines go to Susan from Kenosha good morning to you Susan your thoughts

my thoughts well it's wonderful but this is a tiny step in the right direction we have a long way to go we have to go back and reclaim our country from

the mega people who have tried to change our country into a sortative nation.

And this is not good.

Good people are losing their jobs.

They're losing their income.

And we have to get back to being one for all.

And that means DEI.

That means that we love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

There is no black, white,

whatever decision we are all human beings.

And we have to work towards those goals to make this a better world, not just a better country, but a better world.

And I'm sick and tired of listening to people and people like Scott Walker.

I know F10.

I suffered under F10.

My union were mainly women.

We didn't get

and increase for 10 years.

And the reason why is because we were women who were doing men's jobs and we thought highly of ourselves and they considered us uppity women.

I will never forget that because I was a union rep and this alderman told me this.

And I thought of all the sacrifices that I made for this city.

And this is what you think of me.

Get together.

Love your neighbor.

Earl Ingram

Hey, Susan, I wish you had more time, but thank you very much.

Let's go to Jean from Mclare.

Good morning to you, Jean.

You say what?

Well, the truth will set us free.

And I want to thank all of civic media, every one of you, all of your callers.

All of the time and energy everybody on the ground put out.

This was a group effort of all people, independents, Republicans, and definitely Democrats.

And this is the only way that we will fight

the destruction that is in our country.

Scotty Walker did the same goddamn thing.

We had McCarthy that we could be so proud of years ago.

Give me a break.

The hatred, the lies, the cynicism, and blaming others.

We can't survive as a nation with all the lies and destruction going on.

So we fought back against Scotty Walker and he's trying to stick his little nose back in there again.

What he did, he destroyed workers' compensation, he moved the building, he moved different places around there, split up.

He did so many things that people weren't aware of to destroy the inside of the state of Wisconsin and take control.

Well, that's what...

That's what the president is doing right now with all of those little Republicans that helped Scott Walker in our state now in the federal area.

So we need to keep working, folks, because we can do good and we can change

Earl Ingram

this.

Hey, Gene, thank you very much for that.

I do want to, you know, respond to Mary in the text who said, am I going to mention the voter ID that passed?

And yeah, yeah, I should mention that because it passed overwhelmingly.

Many people who voted for the Supreme Court justice voted yes to this voter ID law.

And I don't get it, to enshrine it, meaning

The new Supreme Court, a new Supreme Court can't come in and change it.

It was a Supreme Court that did usher it in, a conservative Republican Supreme Court.

So I don't understand how people who voted for Susan Crawford, Justice Crawford, then turned around and voted in opposition to what I think is a law that was ushered in.

predicated on lies.

And the fact that that's going to remain, even though there are people who would put justice Crawford, think that that's a good idea.

So yes, you're absolutely correct, Mary.

That law passed.

And I mean, it's now a law.

And for the life of me, I don't understand how you can see it both ways.

Right is right, wrong is wrong.

We did this all these decades without that.

And so to say that people are lying, I still don't support that.

Up next, Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action, hang on the phone lines, I'll come to you.

You tune in to the Earl Ingram show.

It's time to get organized with Dr. Craig in citizen action. Working for democracy and taking on economic, racial, and environmental issues across Wisconsin and around the United States, here's Earl Inger with Dr. Robert Craig.

All right, welcome back to a election victory edition of the Earl Ingram show with none other than Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action. Good morning to you, Dr. Craig. You didn't have to stay up too late last night, did you? No, that was a relief.

I thought it was going to be much closer than that, though I didn't dare hope. I thought that this was a possible scenario, but you don't want to think that way. So yes, I mean, shall we say if the whole fight against fascism or all is a video game with all those different levels, we just we just slayed a monster at level one. Let me let me ask you, Dr. Craig, I was asking.

uh, people earlier, if they thought this was a repudiation of, of Donald Trump, Scott Walker and, and, and all of, you know, what he was able to do for that 12 to 15 year period where conservatives control, uh, the state supreme court and all the other mechanisms by government.

Do you think it's the fact? I mean, I do know that we wound up, even in the city of Milwaukee, a much bigger turnout than people could have imagined. For heaven's sakes, they ran out of ballots at several places. But what do you think it is, Dr. Craig? Can you read too much into this victory? I mean, the national media is probably reading too much into the victory.

And one thing just as far as consequences, I don't think they're going to take this court's going to take up the congressional maps again. I mean, there's this assumption on the right that liberal justices will act like right wing mega justices do and just go after every law regardless. I don't see them doing that actually. The majority are Democrats, but they're real judges.

We'll see. I mean, depends on the case and everything, but I don't think that the media at National Me is acting like that's some foregone conclusion. I don't think it is at all. But as far as reading into it, I mean, it's a very unique situation, a nationalized spring election for Supreme Court, getting closer to November level turnouts for a spring election, which are usually sleepy. I mean,

10 years ago, these were $4 million of races. Now, 100 million total probably didn't even count at all because there's so much unregulated money, actually, Earl. But my suspicion is because there's a lot of spin out there that says they made a mistake of nationalizing the election, right, and making it about Trump and especially Musk. But I think they did that. They had endless money for polling. The billionaires are behind them. That they knew they were going to lose, and this was a Hail Mary. And the Hail Mary didn't connect.

They go, if we just do this like before, it's going to be just like the last race with Kelly and Proto Sayawitz in which quite frankly it's not that close because abortion is such a powerful issue and because the right wing court will take us back to 1848 and there's no other issue with salient. And all that the Democrats have to do is to balance the

of right-wing ads about how you let all these criminals out by saying the opposite. And any judge, because you cannot be 100%, if there's a real judge at all, including a conservative judge, is going to have some of the people they try to commit future crimes.

And what we're really saying is, in these ads anyway, that if you're going to run for attorney general or Supreme Court, then give everyone a maximum sentence. You know what? That's not justice. That's not how the system is supposed to work. It's supposed to be based on the evidence before you, the context, and what you can discern as an experienced judge. But anyway, I think that they were going to lose this race and they tried to change it dynamically, making it a national race, and have must put all that money, and it didn't work.

You know, Dr. Craig has listened to conservative squawk this morning and they were saying, well, you know, um, we shouldn't have brought law and order into this. Well, that's all they ever have is law and order. And, and that's the only play card that they can use. It's worked all the other times, except for, as you stated, the outcome with the protease, which race and this race was still 10 points of thrashing.

So even with all the money that they put in it didn't change when I older It was still a thrashing and then I heard him say dr. Craig. Well Maybe we need to stop running white men for that position and run women because You see all of these women that are on the Supreme Court Excuse me on the Democratic side. They're all women. Maybe that's what we need to start. Well, you do run women, right?

It's not, this wasn't about the fact that people chose women. Dr. Craig wasn't because she's a woman. Well, you do see, look at their caucus in Congress. They, they, they lean heavily to white men. Not for the Democrats to have white men, but the proportion of them is much greater on the other side. Same with the state legislature. You know, I think they might.

you know, think that they should run more of a Brittany Kinzer kind of candidate for DPI. That is someone who is has some deniability as being MAGA and has some Democrat credentials, but supported vouchers and charter schools. But they're not going to do that because that kind of judge might not reliably do what they want and like do things like Trump immunity.

So they have to pick people like Brad Schimel or former Justice Kelly, because they need people who are going to do the dirty, so to speak, support them and find some rationale no matter what, because that's what authoritarians do. They're not interested in the law. They don't have a legal philosophy aside from power. But they'll try to recalibrate, but the problem is, is that they're not going to have a democratic seat to challenge until 2028 with Rebecca Dalla. The next two seats open are incumbent.

Republican seats. And so they have, unless one of those people retires, they're not going to be picking any new candidates. But look, I think what the Democrats have learned to do to balance this is regrettable. I oppose it.

And that is, we'll do the sleazy ads about child molesters as much as you do, and the public won't be able to tell who's soft on child molesters, right? And that's successful because it takes out the Republican strategy. But Earl, can you name one actual issue that might come before the court?

that they even ran on. You see, the Democrats did have abortion. They did have redistricting. Like they, a right wing court might reapportion the legislative maps, for example, and re-Jerimander the legislature. At 10, that is an issue that was about to come before the court and was favorable, Democrat side. Girl, I can't name anything. There's no case about...

forcing boys into girls' bathrooms, for example, or the stuff they put on the air or, and those other stuff. There was deportation ads at the end. It was bizarre about how somehow, Susan Crawford is for allowing criminal aliens to come and terrorize us. Well, you know, Dr. Craig, yesterday I kind of ran down what the state Supreme Court

Justices actually do, in what cases they actually take. None of the things that they were putting forth, none of that ever comes into play ever. Okay, so we do know that that was a diversion, but I will also ask you. That damages democracy. This is on both sides, the Republican side worse, but because the public still has no idea what this record actually does.

They think they sit around deciding how long a sentence they can give to child molesters and rapists and the like, right? And they don't. That's not what street court is. Well, that's why I took the time out yesterday to go over what they are and what their role is and all those things. But Dr. Craig, I guess you said something that I know is true. Well, you always say things that are true, but especially in this instance.

People on the Democratic side of things think that these the the state Supreme Court now Is going to do to Republicans what Republicans did to us? Under Scott Walker when they had total control and that's just not the case You stated it people are expecting to see it and if they're expecting to see it they need to understand now It ain't gonna happen

This is the gaslighting strategy of the Maga Republican Party that is accused Biden of weaponized Barbara Justice over and over again. So then you can do it. I mean the idea that Merrick Garland and that their partner Justice was weaponized is is absurd by any standard and people you're in an Alternative Universe bubble. I know you that some some of the people who listen to your conservative will come up with examples. It's it's absolutely absurd and so

Look, this Supreme Court, for example, in Wisconsin, the majority, they didn't take the Act 10 case right away. Now, workers are going to have to wait for another year or two years for it to work its way through appellate court. And the thing is on-face, unconstitutional, actually, because it treats workers in the same position in different ways because of their political affiliations. They allowed police and firefighters

to have unions because they were with Walker, right? And then other sympathetic workers, not because they were democratic leaning. That is violation of protection. It's unconstitutional. It's already been ruled unconstitutional at the district court level. It wasn't even taken up for years because we had a right wing court that wouldn't look at the constitution of the law. But these judges disappointed.

unions and me and progresses because they delayed this case rather than taking it right away and they disappointed something because they tried to make this an issue in the election by not moving the abortion case faster. But I think they're going to disappoint our side all the time. They will also disappoint their side because

They're actual judges. And judges are supposed to be on one side or the other and some kind of shoe in for a political position, no matter what the facts of the case or the precedent or the Constitution said. Dr. Craig, we saw that same thing with Merrick Garland and look at the thrashing that he took. So we can kind of almost expect the same kind of thing here. And I don't know if we can get people to understand

that they're looking to do the right thing and not, you know, retribution. 855-752-4842. Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action and you on the early show. Guys, hang on the phone lines.

All right, welcome back to The Earl Ingram Show. As always, you can join us at 855-752-4842. 855-752-4842. Text us at that same number. Dr. Craig, your thoughts on the state. Jill Underly in... I forgot to name that quick. Brittany Kinzer. Brittany Kinzer, election.

Look, I think that this was the best opportunity for the voucher supporters and the right to take over the Department of Public Construction. Frankly, I thought it was going to happen. There was a division among liberals where there were two candidates and one had the support of WEAC, the Teachers Union's PAC, but not WEAC, the main organization. And then it looked like Kinzer wasn't even going to run.

Scott Jensen, the other big backers of vouchers, Betsy DeVos, oh look, we have an opportunity. And I was flooded. I got three different mailings trying to mislead me that Brittany Kinzer was the Democrat, right, even though she's supported by the Republican Party.

And there was very little underly campaign I saw to speak of. I received no communication. I don't know what we did. And when we were doing our deep canvas, we crossed the state and all the regions, citizen action, Wisconsin organizers were doing doors and phones and having deep conversations. Almost, it was almost script. The voter probably heard about the Supreme Court race. And if they were a Democratic dependent was probably already for Crawford. And then when you got to DPI, what's that?

who's under Lee? I've never heard of her. So we did a lot of work to explain what the DPI was. So I think she was carried along by the coattails of the Supreme Court race, quite frankly. And you can see that that race was much closer. But I think that that describes it. And Brittany Kinzer, even though the right, all the outside groups put in money.

still wasn't that well known, and any kind of communication she was doing was being overshadowed by the massive overcommunication in the state Supreme Court race. So I think it worked out, but I think that we're going to, the progress is going to lose the part of public instruction if we run a race like this again. You know, Dr. Craig, I said when it came time to voting,

before that, that seat. I wasn't going to vote, you know, I mean, it was, I voted for Jill Underly not because I support the way she does her job. You know, that, that's not, that's not the way it should happen. That's not the way it should work.

And Joe Underly, as well as those who ran her campaign, should understand that there are many of us who voted for her because we had no other choice. Not because she was the person that was right for the job. You can't hold those positions, Dr. Craig, and then not want to talk about what it is you are doing or what your plans are. Brittany Kinzer came on.

my show a couple times. I reached out to underly, not a peep, not a sound. And especially in lieu of everything that happens in public education, the fact that she's in that seat and she is not willing to come out and speak to me, she's not deserving to have it. And so hopefully she'll understand and the people

who supported her in this race and the people who backed her, but that's not the way this should work, Dr. Craig. She's gotta be accountable to the people who elect her, am I right? Yeah, and she's also lucky for the more educated voters. I talked, we called in last night on election night to Milwaukee because...

folks tend to be closer to the polling place. You can call them at 730 and they might still be around to the poll and voted. And you're calling out other parts of the state that might be more difficult. And so I talked to two different voters, Earl, that had studied it, were disappointed in underlies performance and disagreed with her on things, especially the testing, but voted for anyway. And so on the voucher and charter issue, I was astounded.

Because these were extremely these were black model voters what citizens should be they actually look into it and actually made a on-balance judgment Which is too also too uncommon But one of them brought up in detail You know to change the testing methodology and I don't know all the ins and outs of the old methodology for some new methodology But then to turn around and say we had a 46% increase in achievement

by comparing apples to oranges. You can't do that. I don't know for sure. Look, I want to explain their limits to my knowledge on this. It seems like with the COVID pandemic and kids doing virtual school, there was going to be a great decline, which we used against her. So the testing methods would change in order to prevent voters from seeing that.

I'm being a limited information voter now, but that maybe there's, I'm sure there's a lot more to it, but that certainly a reasonable expectation of voters given that I've given that no clear explanation that the public could understand or people who aren't education specialists, I'm not an education specialist could understand was ever rendered. You know, Dr. Craig, you know, I'm going to reach back out to them again after this election and

and see if we can get her on. But clearly, that's not the way to run an election. That's not a way to get the wind backing into it and then disappearing again. You know, if those people who support Jill Underly, who supported her, who ran a campaign or listening now, she won by the skin of her teeth and she was dragged across the finish line.

Many of us who voted for her did not do it because we felt like, you know, you know, what she's doing and the way she's handling that office is right. 855-752-4842. Guys were coming to you on the phone lines. It's Wednesday. That means Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action, and you on the Earl Ingham show.

Somewhere Somehow I've gotta let him know how much I care I'll never give up looking for my baby

is always you can join us at 855-752-4842. Text us at that same number. It's Wednesday. That means Wednesday is my co-host, Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action. Let's go right to the phone lines. Charles, thank you very much for hanging on, man. You have a question to comment. Hey, Earl, I just wanted to comment on the whole thing with that voter ID. Republicans are so squeaky and conniving.

The way they worry it just really confuses a everyday normal person that's not following politics. If it wasn't for civic media for you guys, I would have probably figured, all right, this is just everyday normal stuff. So if it wasn't for you guys getting the word out that this is the underhanded way that they're trying to do things, normal people just would not know. And they worried it.

in such a way that it's so confusing and they try to make it seem so good. So I appreciate you guys for educating at least your listeners and I was able to inform my family that this is something that we should vote no on. So I appreciate you guys for for getting it out there that this was not a good thing to vote. I even know it they pat they you know it yeah more yes than those.

I like said, I appreciate every time they put a reference on the ballot that you guys explain it in simple terms so that every day normal people can. Charles, thank you very much for the call. You know, Dr. Craig, before we go to you, Tony says, I think that it was the wording of the amendment that made it pass. If you didn't know anything about it, it sounded reasonable. Your thoughts on the outcome of that. Go ahead. That's part of it.

Can you hear me, Earl? Yes, sir. OK, that's part of it because the Republican majority has been using the ballot to change the Constitution. And they shape, they decide how it's worded. They have to pass the resolution to different legislatures and then ask to pass through the public. And that is not how other states with more developed referendum processes work.

They have procedures that actually require that they be readable and that they be understandable, and there are commissions that work that through so the public gets the information, gets it in the voting booth, and gets it beforehand from official sources. But they don't want that. They just want to add conservative doctrine to the Constitution. I do think though that this might have passed anyway because

It's one of those brilliant conservative tactics where it makes sense to middle class and above people because we get asked to have IDs, to get on airplanes, to do all sorts of things, and don't realize that there are a whole lot of more marginal people in our society that do not have it, do not need to use a photo ID, and then we don't actually make it easily available. And so it's actually a voter suppression tool that itself looks reasonable.

And if Democrats were going to prevent this, it needs to be talked about a lot more between when it was put in statute by Scott Walker and now, but instead because they know it's just impoling, generally popular, because it makes sense, even though it's really not driven by any need, there is no, there's virtually no identity theft voter fraud.

It's a non-existent problem. Courts should have thrown it out because there's no policy basis for creating this barrier. But nonetheless, so it is. So there's other blame to go around. Like if you want to make something unpopular, you better talk about it when it's on the books for a while and not just go to popular talking points and not talk about it. But there is a bill by Representative Devin Draka and some other Democrat legislators that would impose readability and explanation requirements on state.

referendums like this, these constitutional questions, and it won't go anywhere in this legislature, but it's exactly what the callers said if you really care about what the voters think, you need to explain to them clearly what they're voting on. Very well said. Let's go to Cindy from Appleton. Good morning to you, Cindy. You say what?

Well, that's what I wanted to talk about was the amendment that passed and I still, I mean, in essence, the right wing is actually one because this is going to be a huge voter suppression issue that's going to affect our next election. And I think we're going to have to start right now finding ways to get around this so that people can vote because it's going to make a difference. I know several people who don't even have birth certificates because they were born at home. So we need to get ahead of this right now and.

and make sure that we can get people to vote in the next election. Thank you very much for the call, Cindy. Let's go to CJ. Good morning to you, CJ. You say what? Good morning, Earl and Dr. Craig. Very sad day in Wisconsin for Wisconsinites.

You mean for MAGA? A sad day for MAGA Republicans, not for those of us who voted overwhelmingly to support Justice Crawford. Well, thank God for the referendum passing because your party

that was the intention of joe biden and the bar or borders are ha ha ha um to allow millions to be legal and eventually be able to vote and that that was do you have any proof to back that up in wisconsin yeah because the republicans offered governor evers to sign a bill that you had to be a legal

citizen to get a driver's license and insurance at least be in the application process. And he promised just like Joe Biden to veto anything that would stop the legal invasion of America because your party wants the sympathy vote that they're willing to break.

the law of the Constitution to allow illegal aliens to vote with just a driver's license. Okay, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on. Dr. Craig, Dr. Craig, bring him down, man. Hey, Dr. Craig, you want to respond to any of that madness? It's another false flag. It's like identity theft, voter impersonation as voter fraud. There's almost no

people who are not citizens or undocumented voting, because that'd be a very good way to get caught and thrown out of the country, okay? And it's only one vote. So, but if you say it over and over again, then people think it's true. And that's the communication ecosystem, the noise machine, the right and the right wing billionaires have deliberately created. And there's no talking, there's gonna be no talking CJ out of this, right?

And I'll take CJ just word that he actually believed this, but I'm in a loss as to how to de-program him because there's no factual basis for this claim and there's no factual basis that the goal of Democrats is to get people who are not documented to vote at all. And the problem is this, really, when you think about it fundamentally, you should not have restrictions on any fundamental right. I mean, the right to vote.

free speech, free association, free assembly, unless there is a very, very good public reason for it. That is the rights of other people, okay? So just making it up, making up something, and then repeating it over and over again is not a basis for limiting people's rights by putting barriers in front of them. Let's go to Eric from Tulsa. Good morning, G. Eric. You say what?

Good morning. Happy Victory Wednesday, Earl and Dr. Craig. Well, actually, to you and your mom and others who did all the leg work, man, you know, all of those people that we don't see, like Dr. Craig and this group behind the scenes who put in the work, wouldn't have happened without the hard work that you guys put in. Go ahead.

I was going to say, Citizen Action has a big part of that, too. There's a lot of group, a lot of group souls to the polls. I'm telling you, those billboards in Milwaukee had to have an impact. But I'll say, one thing's for clear, is that the world's richest man, baby, did not see that coming. Y'all didn't get the joke, did you? No, no. I got to play my joke. Oh, man. Say it again, man. Say it again.

the world all right all right ilan must did not see that coming oh okay i got you i got you i'd like to say i'd like to say my hope today is that we just established a statewide version of a warren court that just might help the state evolve a bit because i believe that evolution is the dirtiest of words for the righty tighty whitey and it's what really terrifies them the most and i like you were saying earl i canvassed against voter id

um the constitutional amendment and i believe that we've just been conditioned to believe in the boogie man and especially like dr craig said the the the white middle class folks it's we've been conditioned to believe in it and show our id and remember we're also thinking that we're under suspicion if we don't show it and it's just training it's conditioning and they've also long forgotten the suppressors vote and that walker brought in just to do that hey eric um you had the dr underly race yeah go ahead go ahead dr underly race go ahead

The doctor under the race, like you talked about, was virtually invisible during this campaign. And I just had a sigh of relief last night. I definitely agree that she benefited from the coattails. But we should also never forget that our state legislature is ultimately responsible for anything education in this state. It's just, you know, we always have to go back to them and she has to work under there.

But you can't disappear, man. You're an elected official. No, I agree. Hey, thank you. Thank you very much for the call. Thank you very much for the call. Dr. Craig, you want to respond to any of that? I think he is on the mark on everything. And as I said at the beginning of the show,

And this is not to contradict the caller what they said at all. We just got to understand that this is one stage in resisting fascism, right? So we slide the monster at level one of a video game that has under the level. And so now we need to move on. I hope this gives wind in the sails to the Democrats and the legislature.

Democrats in Congress, for that matter, and people to follow after what Cory Booker achieved this week, and then Governor Evers to fight harder. That's what the Democratic Constitution is asking for, to fight. And I think that needs to include the state budget and fighting to make sure that we actually fund our public schools, expand badger care, stop building new prisons that are unnecessary.

And so I think that we're, I think the governor needs to use his veto power much more robustly because that's the demand right now. A lot of democratic elected officials signed up for something different. They didn't sign up to a situation where authoritarianism was marching forward. I mean, or we just, they just eliminated 10,000 healthcare workers and illegally cut off critical healthcare grants to all the states, right? This is ongoing, but

What's good about beating the monster at level one of the video game here is that one of the protections against authoritarianism in Wisconsin is that we have a federated system of power with states that have a lot of power. So this protects Wisconsin from having a state Supreme Court that is going to side with MAGA and turn all local police officers and sheriffs into ICE enforcement officers to go just load anyone up on because they say they're a gang member. They say they're dangerous and send them to it.

in El Salvadorian Prism that really looks like the early death camps in Nazi Germany before the death chambers. In other words, it's inhuman and there's no process whatsoever. And you know, the odd thing Earl is, you got people like Joe Rogan.

complaining about it now. And another right-wing act of life that you would never expect until I give Rogan and some of the others credit for showing an ounce of humanity. I'd like to see some more ounces, but that's great. That's a great sign of humanity. Well, you know, you know, Dr. Craig, it's kind of an oxymoron, humanity and Maga Republicans. 8-5-5-7-5-2-48-42 guys hang on. Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action in you.

Welcome back to the last few minutes of the Erlingham Show. As always, you can join us at 855-752-4842. 855-752-4842. Text us at that same number. Dr. Robert Crick, Citizen Action. Right back to the phone lines. Brendan, you say what? Brendan, you're up. Congratulations.

Yeah. Hey, I just wanted to say congratulations to the people of Wisconsin for putting the middle finger up to the oligarchy and the tech pros. And my second point and final point would be, hey, CJ, could you call one time not mentioned Harris, Biden or the border? Okay. Have a good day. All right. Brendan, thank you. Bill from O'Connor, Milwaukee. You're up.

I'd like to thank all the voters in Wisconsin and I'm going to say something that maybe you discussed. I just turned in the show now. So maybe you talked about it. But I think we've got to thank Republicans and the talk show host, Dan O'Donnell. He mobilized quite a few people and I think he mobilized the right people. I believe one of that was Republicans would have enough. I'll hang up. What do you guys think? Well, you know, you can give Dan O'Donnell more credit than he deserves.

Uh, clearly in this instance, people who decided it's the turnout, uh, Dr. Craig, that's the key, right? I mean, and that's the hard work that your organization and others put in. If you don't get the turnout, you, you, you can't win. Well, there's also a structural change, Earl, and, uh, Craig Gilbert, who does, even though he's retired, still right straight, our welcome walkie journal set in all of analysis.

pointed out. Half a century ago, even 25 years ago, Democrats struggled to turn out in spring elections, lower turnout elections, and only turned out in presidential elections. In fact, Carl Rovenalike used that to take over state legislatures and off years. Now that more educated voters are Democrats, and

and more working class voters who don't have as much education are Republicans, they struggle in these sort of races. So we should not overinterpret this for presidential elections, right? The reason they had Musk here, the reason the closing abs for Schimel were an endorsement from Donald Trump is because they were trying to get those voters that only turn out for Donald Trump when he's on the presidential ballot to come out and they didn't. Now,

Not none of them did. I think a bunch still did. There was high turnout. So then there's the other side making sure there was super high turnout on our side. And what was interesting is there was a lot of tracking polling showing enthusiasm levels equal. I tend to think they were looking at too small a sample and they were looking at the active, always voting basis. And they weren't looking at the fact that Schimmel needed a lot of people who never vote in spring elections to vote. And they got probably got some of them too.

Some of them thought they were going to get a million dollars from the world's richest man. By going to that rally, but not enough of them to overcome the very large turnout on our side, which required a whole bunch of work. Right. That's correct. Because democracy is just pretty sport. It's not just all those ads. In fact, those ads demoralize a lot of people. What make them throw their hands up and say a pox on both their houses? It was the individual conversations that brought a lot of people around. I have a lot of them and so did

our organizers and all of our members who volunteered during the cycle. So Dr. Craig, going back to what Republicans had done on a national scale for so long, understanding the power of controlling states and the state houses, I was starting to see some erosion of that. Is it is it is it possible that the Democrats can now see what they didn't see?

you know, going back half a decade or a decade or so ago that their whole goal was always the presidency and that the states have they learned anything in this process? I think so. I still think that there's a disproportionate money to the top in the democratic funding structure and not enough for the legislature. There were breakthroughs last cycle. Then Wickler and the Democratic Party raised a lot more money than usual for the state legislature. I think

A lot of seats were picked up. I think more were not because Trump was on the ballot and it brought all those voters. That doesn't happen in 2026, right? He's not on the ballot. And so this is why this is the best opportunity in 15 years to have to take back the legislature. We need to be focused on that as tightly as we were on retaining the Supreme Court. And we also have to have an agenda because the only way progressive and democratic politics work is if government delivers on people's needs.

So the government needs all sorts of reform. We're not, we cannot just be here to defend the status quo and saying, hey, we have Medicaid, everything's good. No, Medicaid is essential, but we need to build on it because a huge number of people still cannot afford health care and are avoiding medical care because they think that they can't afford the bill even when they're insured because of the copays and the deductibles and all the bizarre cost sharing. You don't know what the price is going to be until you get the bill. You can't pay a month later. You know, you know, Dr. Craig, it is.

It's people should should revel in the victory. But it's it's the first step, right? It's level one of the video game. So very well said, my friend. Dr. Robert Craig, Executive Director of Citizen Action. Always great to talk to you, my friend. We'll see you in a week. Thank you, everybody who made the show go up next. Jane, Matt, and Greg bought on the.

Pacific Media Network. See you later.
