In no surprise to any of us paying attention, the economy devolves into chaos after conflicting tariff decisions. 25% tariffs on all goods imported from Mexico and Canada. No wait, those tariffs are delayed. Or maybe they'll never come. Perhaps they'll be much bigger than that. In response, today's volatility index shows over a 13% increase, an enormous jump. The markets reflect the volatility of our own federal government, where no group is safe from a sudden slash or funding freeze.

With chaos the only constant, it's no wonder even Wisconsin's own conservative US Senator Johnson expresses deep concerns over his party leader's tariff indecisions. The volatility and chaos will bring pain. In fact, Earl's friend and frequent cohost Sandy Williams, a trained economist, predicts a pending recession due to the uncertainty.
