Donna M. Bookins

Donna M. Brookins passed away peacefully on April 8th at Legacy of the Northwoods in
Eagle River, WI. She was born to Henry and Ellen Calkins on August 27 th , 1938.
Donna married the love of her life, Leroy Brookins, on November 30 th , 1957, and
together they raised six children. She worked for many years as a playground attendant
for Ontonagon School. Donna truly enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband,
Leroy. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren, and she was grateful to meet her great-great-granddaughter. She also
enjoyed spending time at the Eagles Club, where she was a longtime member, and
dancing on open mic nights. She will be missed deeply by her entire family.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ellen; three sisters; three
brothers; and one son-in-law. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Julie
Johnson, David (Tammy), Donald (Debby), Carl (Julie), Tom (Brenda), and Kenny
(Darcy); 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank Legacy of the Northwoods for their hospitality and
compassionate care of Donna in her final moments. Cane Funeral Home has been
entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. Services are planned for the spring
and will be announced by Cane Funeral Home.
