Victor William Peterson, age 78, of Park Falls, WI passed away on February 11, 2026, surrounded by family and friends,
at Marshfield Hospital in Marshfield, WI. Victor was born March 12, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, to
Victor and Ella (Zimmerman) Peterson. Victor attended grammar and high school in Flint
Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 and attended college in Lake city
Florida where he obtained an associate degree in Forestry. He moved to Glidden, Wisconsin in
1974 and then to Park Falls in 1975 and lived there until his passing. He was employed by the
USDA Forest Service for 30 years and retired in 2007. Victor’s main desire was to live in the
Northwoods of Wisconsin, and his greatest joy was enjoying God’s bounty. Victor married the
love of his life Deborah Ann Peterson (Shilts) of Tofte, Mn. They were devoted to one another
for 41 years.
Victor Is survived by his wife, Deborah, two sons; Keith William Peterson and Blaine (Danielle)
Victor Peterson, who were the pride of his life. Victor was blessed with three Grand Children
that became his joy and happiness for the last 12 years. Brookelyn Rae Walcott (12), Victor
William Peterson (9), and Gunnar Jase Peterson (6). He is also survived by his mother-in-law
Natalie Shilts, brother-in-law Pat Shilts (Sharon), and sister-in-law Laura Eitrem, and numerous
nieces and nephews. Victor was proceeded in death by his parents Victor and Ella Peterson,
sister Ruth Schaller, brother Russell Peterson, and father-in law Sylvester Shilts.
Victor was a devote Christian and brought joy to all with his infectious laughter and compassion.
Victor will be missed by many and his desire for conservation and God’s bounty will live on
through his children and grandchildren. Even in passing, Victor continued to help others, and his
legacy will live on through the generous gift of organ donation.
There will be a visitation on Saturday February 21, 2026, from 10:00am – 12:00pm and funeral
service at 12:00 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butternut, WI. Rev. John Deitz will officiate.
Military honors will follow.
