I’ve got a little something for everyone today!

Let’s start with something for all the sappy Christmas movie fans. These are probably my least favorite of the movie genres but I know people love them!

“The busy, big city boss-babe comes back to her small hometown and meets the baker/the plumber/the inn keeper/the mechanic…and by the end of the movie they all live happily ever after.”
You’re smiling right now because you know that’s how all those predictable movies start yet they still have millions of viewers so you’re not alone if you love them. I’ve even been known to get sucked into them a time or two. But that can be our secret…

Well, if you love country music and sappy Christmas movies, then this first movie is for you!

A Grand Ole Opry Christmas

This new, original movie will star Nikki DeLoach (Curious Caterer MysteriesOur Holiday Story) and Kristoffer Polaha (A Biltmore Christmas, The Christmas Quest) and will premiere this holiday season during Hallmark Channel’s 16th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event.

Brad Paisley is writing the original music for A Grand Ole Opry Christmas and will also perform. Brad will also write and record the official anthem for Hallmark’s 2025 Countdown tChristmas campaign.

Next up!
This one is for fans of Depeche Mode!

Depeche Mode: M is the new concert film that will be released in theaters on IMAX around the world this fall. Moviegoers will see footage from the band’s three sold-out Mexico City Foro Sol Stadium shows during their 2023-2024 “Memento Mori Tour.”

It will showcase Depeche Mode performing their big hits while exploring the connection between music, mortality, and Mexican traditions.

Look for Depeche Mode: M to debut on October 28th.  Tickets go on sale starting September 17th.

And finally, my favorite genre of all: This one is for the scary movie fans!

If you’ve seen the new Julia Garner/Josh Brolin movie, Weapons (which I surprisingly have not despite all the hype and box office slayings), you’ll love this potential news.

There’s some buzz of a prequel! Weapons writer and director Zach Cregger was the man behind Barbarian and is involved in the next Resident Evil movie (which looks to release next year in 2026). But rumor has it, he may be interested in a Weapons prequel, too. And why wouldn’t ya? In just two weekends, the new movie has brought in about 90 million dollars in box office earnings and earned some pretty great reviews.

So of all the movie news, it’s no surprise, the scary movie ones always have me most excited.

Laura McKenna
Laura McKenna grew up in Ohio and got her first job in radio in La Crosse in 2005. She packed up her stuff, made the move, and has been in Wisconsin ever since! Her favorite season is winter but she loves to spend all summer in her vegetable garden. When she isn't in her pink kitchen cooking up vegetarian recipes, more than likely she's taking bubble baths, reading mystery novels (sometimes while in a bubble bath), cheering for THEE Ohio State Buckeyes, or officiating weddings! She married her best friend from college last year but they still don't live in the same house yet. Laura's favorite way to spend a Friday night is watching Dateline with her cat (Phil Dawson) on her lap. She's thrilled to be back keeping you company during the workday on 105-7 CFW!
