Baraboo Police Investigate Juvenile’s Hacked Social Media Account

Baraboo, WI. According to a release from the Baraboo Police Department late Sunday night, On April 19, 2026, officers received information that the social media account of a juvenile city of Baraboo resident had been compromised. An unknown individual(s) used the juvenile’s account to message the juvenile’s contacts.

Officers contacted the juvenile account holder, who was unaware of the messages. According to the Baraboo Police Department, the Baraboo School District and Baraboo Police Department school resource officers have been informed. The investigation is ongoing.

According to an email from the Baraboo School District, “This evening, the School District of Baraboo and the Baraboo Police Department were made aware of online threats directed at the Baraboo High School. The Baraboo Police Department immediately investigated the situation and determined the threat to be not credible. At this time, both the district and law enforcement believe there is no safety risk to students. 

We appreciate the community members who reported the concern and thank the Baraboo Police Department for their prompt investigation and response.”
