Wisconsin Rapids, WI (WFHR, WIRI)

Gilbertson reaches a milestone.

On Tuesday, January 13, Wisconsin Rapids senior Brody Gilbertson became just the sixth Boys Basketball player to hit the 1,000 career point mark as the Raiders took on Eau Claire North.

Despite falling 71-62, Gilbertson scored 34 points to lead all scorers in the game, as he needed 28 points coming into the contest to reach the historic plateau.

Gilbertson currently has 1,003 points and needs 207 points over the final 14 games on the schedule to tie the all-time scoring mark, set by Dylan Lisitza in 2021.

Riverkings continue road stretch.

The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings continue their road trip to start the second half of the season as they play three games over Thursday, January 15 to Saturday, Jan. 17.

Rapids earned a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Blue Ox on the 15th before playing a pair of games at the Hudson Havoc.

Rapids sits with a 3-0 record over the Blue Ox, defeating them 5-1 and 5-2 in November, while knocking off Hudson 6-2 and 3-2 in October.

Badgers move to three straight wins.

After inconsistent play to end 2025, the Wisconsin Badgers Men’s Basketball team has found its groove having won its last three games including over No. 2 Michigan on Jan. 10 by a 91-88 score, and got a buzzer-beating three-pointer over Minnesota on Jan. 13 for a 78-75 victory.

The Badgers next play on Jan. 17 when they host Rutgers at 1:00 pm.

Packers end the season.

The season ended for the Green Bay Packers when they fell to the Chicago Bears on Saturday, January 10 by a score of 31-27.

The loss was the fifth in a row to close out the season causing the Packers to finish with a 9-7-1 record.

The NFL’s Divisional Round of the playoffs will be played over Jan. 17-18 with Buffalo vs Denver and San Francisco vs Seattle on the 17th, while Houston vs New England and Los Angeles Rams vs Chicago will be on the 18th.
