SAUK COUNTY, Wis (CIVIC MEDIA) – A multi-vehicle crash in Sauk County resulted in a fatality and multiple injuries.

UPDATE:

The name of the man who died in a multi-vehicle crash in Sauk County Monday night has been released. Joseph Ott, 31 of Portage, was traveling eastbound on Highway 33 near the intersection of Man Mound Road and crossed the centerline.

Another vehicle swerved to miss Ott’s vehicle and struck another vehicle traveling westbound. The two vehicles collided – Ott continued traveling east on Hwy 33, striking another vehicle traveling westbound head-on.

The operator of the vehicle struck by Ott’s vehicle was taken by UW-Med Flight and three other occupants from the four vehicles were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals. Ott was pronounced dead at the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY

Monday night around 6:30 p.m., the Sauk County Communications Center received multiple 911 calls about a traffic accident on Highway 33 near the intersection of Man Mound Road in the Township of Greenfield.

Upon arrival, deputies observed four involved vehicles. Baraboo Fire and EMS began treating patients, with one being transported by UW-Med Flight to a Madison area hospital. Three other occupants were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals.

It was learned a sedan that was traveling eastbound crossed the centerline. Another vehicle swerved to miss the sedan and struck another vehicle traveling westbound; the two vehicles collided, and the sedan continued. The sedan then struck another vehicle traveling westbound head-on. The operator of the vehicle struck by the sedan was taken by UW-Med Flight and the driver of the sedan, a 31-year-old male from the Portage area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending the notification of family.
