IOWA COUNTY, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Early Monday morning around 12:15a, the Iowa County Communications Center received a report of a wrong way driver on US Highway 18 near County Road XX in Eden Township.

The vehicle in question narrowly avoided a head on collision with a Lancaster ambulance carrying EMS and law enforcement personnel returning from an out of county transport.

Iowa County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the vehicle in the Village of Cobb and made contact with the driver.

As a result of this contact, Elias Gonzalez Tolentino, 24 of Highland, was arrested for OWI 1st offense, Possession of Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, and Operating without a Valid License for the second time in three years. He was transported to the Iowa County Jail where he was booked and later released after posting bond.
