At approximately 12:00 p.m. on Friday April 4th one of the missing boaters was located and recovered from the Wisconsin River. He was identified by the Wisconsin Dells Police Department as Luis F. Di Filippo, 75, of Chicago, IL. The boater that remains missing has been identified as Francesco L. Di Filippo, 20, of Chicago, IL.

Search efforts continued on Sunday for Francesco. He has not yet been recovered. With the assistance of the Kilbourn Fire Department, 18 miles of shoreline was covered by boat from the Kilbourn Dam, south on the river to the west end of the Pine Island State Natural Area.

Due to extremely high water conditions, in water search efforts have been suspended. Until the water reaches a manageable level, they will not be able to deploy divers or underwater drones to check areas of interest. Until then, shoreline searches will continue in accessible areas.

The following agencies have assisted in the sear the Wisconsin DNR, Columbia and Sauk County Dive Teams, Columbia and Sauk County Sheriff’s Office’s, Ft. McCoy Fire Department, Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Bruce’s Legacy.

The Wisconsin Dells Police Department asks that if anyone observes anything to please contact Wisconsin Dells Police Department (608-253-1611 Press “2” to be connected with the Columbia County Dispatch Center).
