Republican John Spiros wins 86th Assembly District

The 86th Assembly District covers parts of Wood, Marathon, and Portage counties in central Wisconsin.

WISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican John Spiros has been called the winner of the race for the 86th Assembly District in Wisconsin.

The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.

The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered solid Republican with a projected margin of 26 points.

Spiros was first elected to the Assembly in 2010 and serves on five committees as well as a task force on artificial intelligence. He is the vice president of a national trucking company and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1979 to 1985.

Spiros defeated another incumbent Assembly Republican who was drawn into the district, Donna Rozar, and Trine Spindler in the August primary with 43% of the vote. Rozar received 32%, while Spindler picked up 25% in the primary.

Spiros defeated Democratic challenger John Small, who retired as the captain of the Marathon City Fire Department after over 20 years of service. He also was the Village President in Marathon City from 2005 to 2019.

The 86th Assembly District covers parts of Wood, Marathon, and Portage counties in central Wisconsin.
