Republican Rob Stafsholt wins 10th Senate District

WISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Rob Stafsholt has been called the winner of the race for the 10th Senate District in Wisconsin.

The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.

The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered solid Republican with a projected margin of 18 points.

Stafsholt, who was first elected to the Senate in 2020, previously served in the Assembly from 2016 to 2018. He is a member of three committees, including Chair of the Committee on Financial Institutions and Sporting Heritage. Stafsholt owns two businesses and is a farmer.

Stafsholt made the jump from Assembly to Senate in 2020, flipping a deep red seat in northern Wisconsin that Democrat Patty Schachtner had won in a special election over Republican Adam Jarchow. Stafsholt served as the Chair of the Committee on Financial Institutions and Sporting Heritage in the Senate last session. 

Stafsholt defeated Democratic challenger Paul Hambleton, a former teacher and the current chair of the St. Croix County Democrats.

The 10th Senate District covers Buffalo, Pepin, Pierce, and St. Croix counties, as well as part of Dunn County, in western Wisconsin. The 28th, 29th, and 30th Assembly Districts are in the 10th Senate District.
