By Jimmie Kaska, Civic Media StaffWISCONSIN (Civic Media) – Incumbent Republican Paul Melotik has been called the winner of the race for the 22nd Assembly District in Wisconsin.
The Associated Press made the call Tuesday evening.
The Republican Party was favored in this district going into the election, according to CNalysis. The district was considered very likely Republican with a projected margin of 15 points.
Melotik, who won a special election last year to gain the Assembly seat, is on four committees. He is a small business owner and high school softball coach. Before the Assembly, he was a Town of Grafton supervisor for seven years.
Melotik underperformed expectations in his special election, winning a very Republican seat by a less than 8% margin. He also previously served on the Ozaukee County Board.
Melotik defeated Democratic challenger Dana Glasstein, a teacher in the Wisconsin Technical College system, who has been active in the Mequon-Thiensville School District. This was her first time running for elected office.
