Scott Fitzgerald Wins Another Term In 5th Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Wis., cruised to reelection on Friday, besting Democrat Ben Steinhoff in the contest for the 5th Congressional District.

The Associated Press called the race for Fitzgerald at 8:51 p.m. He garnered 199,589 votes, or 65 percent, compared to Steinhoff’s 107,682 votes, or 35 percent, with about 68. 4 percent of precincts reporting

The 5th Congressional District consists of some of the northern and western suburbs of Milwaukee, including Washington and Jefferson counties and most of Waukesha County.

Fitzgerald served in the state Senate from 1995 to 2021, serving as Majority Leader from 2013 to 2021. He was elected to the 5th Congressional District seat in 2021, succeeding former U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner. In the House, Fitzgerald serves on the Committee on the Judiciary, the Committee on Education and Labor and the Committee on Small Business.

Steinhoff is a paramedic with 12 years of experience.
