Glenn Grothman Wins Reelection In 6th Congressional Race

Grothman’s District Represents Eastern Parts Of Wisconsin

U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman, R-Wis., topped Democrat John Zarbano on Tuesday night in the race for another term representing Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District.

The Associated Press called the race for Grothman at about 10:03 p.m. Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, vote tallies showed Grothman received 251,791 votes, or 61.1 percent, compared to Zarbano’s 160,001 votes, or 38.9 percent, with about 99 percent of precincts reporting.

The 6th Congressional District consists of parts of eastern Wisconsin, including parts of the Fox Valley and includes the cities of Oshkosh, Sheboygan and Fond du Lac.

Grothman was first elected to the U.S. House in 2014 and has been reelected four times. In the House, he serves on the Committee on the Budget, the Committee on Education and the Workforce and Oversight and Accountability Committee. Grothman was elected to the state Assembly in 1993 and served until 2005. He was elected and served in the state Senate from 2005 to 2015 and was the Assistant Majority Leader from 2011 to 2015.  He was raised in Thiensville and graduated from the UW–Madison. He earned his law degree from the UW Law School and was an attorney before serving in the Legislature. He lives in the Town of Greenbush in Sheboygan County.

Zarbano is a retired lawyer. He was born in Omaha and graduated from the University of Nebraska. He earned a law degree from the University of Tulsa, College of Law. He moved to Wisconsin in 1998 and was a bank lawyer for much of his career. After retirement, he teaches entertainment law at UWO and hospitality law at Fox Valley Technical College. He lives in Oshkosh with his wife and raised two sons.
