LITTLE CHUTE, WI – (WGBW & WISS) – The gymnasium at Little Chute High School was packed to the brim with supporters and voters who came out to see Vice President Kamala Harris as she barnstormed through Wisconsin with just four days left before the presidential election.
The Harris/Walz campaign said over 2000 people were packed into the gym with hundreds more in the overflow area.
Chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, Ben Wikler, Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, and Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez warmed up the crowd before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage.
Rodriquez told the story that her husband is an immigrant from Mexico, and her small child was frightened in 2020 of President Donald Trump winning re-election. He said he was afraid he and his father would be kicked out of the country. She said that spurred her to get involved in politics–to ensure that he would never be afraid of being removed from his home again.
Harris, in her appeal to the voters in Outagamie County and Northeast Wisconsin, asked people to imagine the Oval Office in January.
“In less than 90 days, you can picture the Oval Office in less than 90 days,” Harris said. “It’s either gonna be him sitting in there. Pouring over and stewing over his enemies list. Or when I am elected, it will be me walking in there on your behalf working on my to-do list!”
Harris appealed to the first-time voters during her speech, saying she loves Gen Z.
“The young leaders who are voting for the very first time! You all are rightly impatient for change. You are determined to live free from gun violence! I love Gen Z. There’s none of these issues that are theoretical for them. It’s not political for them–for you all. It’s lived experience! And I’m so proud of you when I think about the future of our nation,” Harris extolled.
Harris was last in Northeast Wisconsin at a rally at the Resch Expo in Ashwaubenon on October 17th. Before that she visited Ripon, the “Birthplace of the Republican Party.” Following her appearance in Little Chute Harris was headed to the Milwaukee area for a rally at the State Fair Expo Center.
Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, is rallying just seven miles away at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
