MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) – Polls are open across Wisconsin until 8 p.m. today for the partisan primary elections. Voters can check their ballots and find their polling locations by visiting MyVote.wi.gov. There are several races of note in Southeast Wisconsin.

In Waukesha County, the Republican primary for District Attorney features a contest between two seasoned prosecutors, Lesli Boese and Mike Thurston. Both currently serve as Deputy District Attorneys, and the winner is expected to become the county’s top prosecutor, as there are no other candidates in the race.

The 4th Senate District, previously held by Lena Taylor, who resigned to join the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, is also in focus. Dora Drake emerged victorious in a special primary election on July 2, securing 68% of the vote against LaKeshia Myers. Both candidates are now vying for a full four-year term.

In Milwaukee’s 19th Assembly District, incumbent Rep. Ryan Clancy faces a primary challenge from Jarrod Anderson. The primary winner is expected to secure the general election in this Democratic stronghold.

The 24th Assembly District sees a rematch between Rep. Janel Brandtjen and State Sen. Dan Knodl. Knodl, who previously defeated Brandtjen in a Senate primary, is running for the Assembly. Brandtjen, endorsed by Donald Trump, has had conflicts with other Republicans.

Other notable races include the 9th Assembly District, where Marisabel Cabrera’s resignation has left her seat open, and the 11th and 12th Assembly Districts, vacated by Dora Drake and LaKeshia Myers, respectively, as they pursue a Senate seat. The districts are strongly Democratic, with multiple candidates vying for the nominations.
