MADISON, Wis. (Civic Media) – The chair of the state’s Democratic Party said that over 90% of Wisconsin delegates are committed to supporting Vice President Kamala Harris at next month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

In a post on X, Ben Wikler said that the state’s Democratic Party is endorsing Harris for president.

“We’re united, fired up, and ready to deliver Wisconsin for Kamala Harris,” Wikler wrote.

Other prominent Democratic figures in Wisconsin politics are following suit. Gov. Tony Evers said he was endorsing Harris, joining Sen. Tammy Baldwin and other Wisconsin Democrats in supporting the vice president.

In a statement following Biden’s announcement on Sunday that he was ending his campaign, the state’s Democratic Party touted Biden’s accomplishments in office and said it was “an honor for all of us” to work with the president over the last three and a half years.

Biden announced on Sunday he was ending his presidential campaign and endorsed Harris. Rep. Mark Pocan was the first Wisconsin Democrat to call for Biden to step down.

Since the announcement, virtually every Democrat in the state issued remarks thanking Biden for his service, including all three Democratic candidates in Wisconsin’s third Congressional district.

“Wisconsin Democrats are united, fired up, and ready to deliver Wisconsin for Vice President Kamala Harris,” a statement from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin said. “Already, Vice President Harris has won endorsements from Governor Evers, Tammy Baldwin, and every other statewide elected Democrat, as well as elected Democrats at all levels and grassroots leaders and activists across the state. We’ve seen record-breaking fundraising, with Wisconsin Democrats raising more than $140,000 in just 24 hours. There’s no one better prepared to prosecute the case against Donald Trump than Vice President Harris, and our endorsement makes it official: Wisconsin Democrats are all in for Kamala Harris.”

Wisconsin Republicans have been steadfast in opposing Biden’s policies, raising skepticism about Harris, and supporting former president Donald Trump’s candidacy since Sunday’s announcement.

Brian Schimming, Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman, called Harris the “worst vice president of the modern age.”

“The real question: Not who will be Kamala Harris’ VP pick, but who would want to be her pick?” Schimming posted on X on Sunday.

Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden has made several posts since Biden’s announcement, including a prediction that Biden wouldn’t survive his term as president. Van Orden also sent a letter to Harris asking her to invoke the 25th Amendment to take over as president, citing a lack of faith in Biden’s ability to serve in the position.
