GREEN BAY, Wis. (Civic Media) – Tech giant Foxconn Technology Group is looking to sell two offices, dubbed “innovation centers,” in Green Bay and Eau Claire. Foxconn bought the buildings in 2018 for around $12 million.

The two buildings were slated to employ around 100 people each, but those plans were put on hold in 2019. The company said at the time that they were instead going to focus on their manufacturing campus in Mount Pleasant.

Foxconn tells WPR that they are selling the offices to focus on “ongoing business activities” at their Mount Pleasant campus.

Representatives for the downtown of both Green Bay and Eau Claire said that, had the “innovation centers” opened, it would have been a positive boost to their cities. Three of the six floors of the Green Bay building were in use, with two floors used as retail space, and one floor vacant. The Eau Claire building has sat vacant for years.

Jeff Mirkes, executive director of Downtown Green Bay, told WPR – “I’m confident that a quality developer with the capital and a plan can implement a resurgence for the property.”

The Mount Pleasant campus broke ground in 2018, with then-President Donald Trump calling the facility “the eighth wonder of the world.” At the time lawmakers passed a robust tax incentive package to bring the company to Wisconsin, who promised to create 13,000 jobs for the state. Foxconn says that so far, they’ve created around 1,000 jobs.

Foxconn currently manufactures data servers and parts for solar arrays at the Mount Pleasant campus.

Foxconn also owns offices in Madison, Milwaukee, and Racine. The downtown Madison office is still owned by Foxconn, but has been up for lease for at least the past two years.
