WASHINGTON, D.C. (Civic Media) – Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced her bid for re-election Wednesday.

Sen. Baldwin, who is wrapping up her second term in the Senate, wrote on Twitter Wednesday “It’s official: I’m running for re-election!”

“Wisconsin’s working families deserve a Senator who’s going to fight for them — not shady special interests or big corporations,” Baldwin said. “We’ve made a lot of progress, but the stakes have never been higher and our work isn’t over yet.”

Baldwin, who was first elected to the Senate in 2012, previously served as a member of the House of Representatives for six terms.

In 2022, Wisconsin voters re-elected Republican Ron Johnson to the Senate for a third term. Johnson defeated former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes.

No Republican candidates have yet declared their intentions to run for the seat. The 2024 election is also a presidential election.
