Jim Santelle
Traitors, Wisconsin Style (Hour 1)
It's been less than 24 hours and we already see a stream of BS and bile coming out of The Felon President's office. Probably the biggest being this pardoning of nearly all of the traitors who took part in January 6, 2021, including members of The Oath Keepers and Proud Boys. We've decided to highlight those special ones from Wisconsin. We then welcome Civic Media's very own and former US Attorney Jim Santelle to the show to discuss the first days of the new administration and The Jack Smith Report.

A National Show of Defiance (Hour 2)
Happening Saturday all across the country, including in at least a half-dozen Wisconsin communities, the People’s March is a national show of defiance against those who want Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday to usher in an era that rolls back rights for workers, women, immigrants, the LGBTQ community, communities of color, and voters. We’ll talk to an organizer of the march in Eau Claire. And our Friday panel assesses the Trump transition and reminds us that on Monday’s Martin Luther King Day, we shouldn’t let conservatives continue to misuse MLK’s “content of their character” line.

Civic Media Spotlight for January 11th & 12th (Hour 1)
On the Dom Salvia Show, Dom, with cohost of the day Jim Santelle, talks with Jack Kelly, statehouse reporter for Wisconsin Watch on the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Read Jack's most recent piece on the current and potential future status of the state's highest court here. With a current 4-3 liberal-conservative population and a liberal justice retiring, April's election will decide whether the current balance maintains or tips to the conservatives.
Then, on John and Gordy In the Morning, the guys talk with Pam Jahnke about the premiere of Green and Gold, the new movie shot in Wisconsin about the Green Bay Packers.
Next, on UpNorthNews Radio, Assembly Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) and new state Sen. Sarah Keyeski (D-Lodi) discuss the opening of the new session of the Wisconsin Legislature. They had big hopes for bipartisan progress, now that fairer maps have made the Assembly and Senate more representative of Wisconsin voters. But Republicans have spent the week rushing to pass a voter suppression measure and even stripping away Democratic seats on committees.
Wrapping up the hour on the Maggie Daun Show, Maggie talks about one of her New Year intentions, not resolutions, of playing more. Maggie shares some of her favorite board games and takes calls and texts for recommendations about what games she can work into her intention to play more in 2025.

Politicizing Tragedy: Trump Is Back (Hour 2)
We’ll discuss this week’s news headlines with a new weekly panel: veteran journalists Mark Jacob and Jennifer Schulze, former US Attorney Jim Santelle, and Civic Media afternoon host Todd Allbaugh. Topics include President-elect Trump playing politics with the tragic California wildfires and Meta going MAGA as tech billionaires seek favor with the new administration.

The Supremes of Wisconsin and all these United States (Hour 2)
Jim Santelle, former US Attorney and host of Civic Media's Saturday show Amicus: A Law Review joins us as cohost. This hour, it's all about the Supremes- that is, the Supreme Courts of Wisconsin and the nation.
First, Dom and Jim talk with Jack Kelly, statehouse reporter for Wisconsin Watch on the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Read Jack's most recent piece on the current and potential future status of the state's highest court here. With a current 4-3 liberal-conservative population and a liberal justice retiring, April's election will decide whether the current balance maintains or tips to the conservatives.
Then, Jim and Dom dive into updates on the legal tribulations of President-elect Donald Trump. The 45th and soon to be 47th POTUS seeks delays, dismissal, and denial of all wrongdoing on his part in each of the prosecutions against him. His lower court appeals now spent, Trump seeks dismissal from the Supreme Court of the United States.

It All Comes Around (Hour 1)
Jim Santelle, former US Attorney and host of Civic Media's Saturday show Amicus: A Law Review joins us as cohost. It seems everything that was old becomes new once more, it all comes around.
Today we honor the memory of Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States. Our Jim, Mr. Santelle, recalls his experiences working in the Carter White House in the summer of 1980. Jimmy Carter leaves behind a legacy of peacemaker, dedicated civil servant, and unifier. From across the political spectrum, eulogies pour in honoring a man who- whether one agreed with his political perspectives or not- earned universal respect as a good man.
Jim and Dom then move on to imagining what may be said in eulogy for the remaining living former presidents- including the one set to return to the White House in 11 days.

Civic Media Spotlight for January 4th & 5th (Hour 2)
To begin the second hour this weekend, John and Gordy, of WMDX's morning program the John and Gordy Show, talk with Jim Santelle about being an intern at the White House in the summer of 1980 during the Carter administration, and how his presidency is unjustly overlooked.
Then, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Alan Borsuk, Senior Fellow in Public Policy at Marquette Law School, to discuss the issues facing Milwaukee Public Schools. Earl and Alan talk about the politics of how the state funds education, how mismanagement led to the current problems, and the path ahead for the district.
After that on the Dom Salvia Show, Dom and cohost of the day Earl Ingram discuss the desperate need for elder leaders to pass the torch. With the average age of a US Senator being 68 years and a distinct lack of youth voices in politics, it's no wonder young people didn't turn up to vote. We need elected officials who represent AND resemble their constituents.
We close out the weekend with a segment from WGBW and WISS's morning program, Maino and the Mayor. The guys talk about this day in 1967 when the famed Ice Bowl took place in Green Bay. The Packers beat the Cowboys, and the goalpost came down. We visited this great memory with several guests, including former reporter Tony Walter. He shares many great stories based on that day in his book "Ice Bowl: The Game That Will Never Die."

Due Process… I guess? (Hour 2)
Jim Santelle joins us as cohost on this first Friday of the New Year. Finally, finally, we know the day when Donald Trump will face sentencing for his election interference related to fraudulent financial documents in the state of New York. Mark your calendars for one week from today, January 10th, 10 days before Trump's second inauguration. Unfortunately, we already know the likely sentence: unconditional discharge. In other words: no payments, no prison time, no probation- no penance. The only bright spot here is that after the sentencing, Donald Trump will finally hold the formal title of convicted felon under New York law.
So... now what? Now what do we do to keep involved and do something to change the course of our path? How do we move forward and get off our asses? In a world where every empire so far has fallen eventually due to lack of engagement: refuse to fall into apathy.

Bare minimum is the new mandate? (Hour 1)
Jim Santelle joins us as cohost for the day to address a host of legal and political matters. First, the 119th Congress will have a Speaker, as Mike Johnson (R-LA) meets the minimum threshold to retain the position. Technically, Johnson won the vote on the first ballot. Because after three Republican Reps voted no, their colleagues kept the vote open while they managed to cajole the dissidents into switching. It's as unanimous and reflective of a mandate as Trump's popular vote win...
Then, Jim and Dom debate the merits and very obvious demerits of Merrick Garland's tenure as Attorney General.

Remembering Jimmy Carter Firsthand (Hour 1)
Long before he served as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Jim Santelle was a college student at Marquette, who had a unique opportunity to intern at the White House. He’ll talk to us about his memories of working for former President Jimmy Carter, whose state funeral will be held next week.
