Earl Ingram
Who’s the President here? (Hour 2)
Dom's back! Earl Ingram joins to cohost today.
Moving on from the local news of the last hour as we discussed developments in the ALCS shooting, Dom and Earl look to national governance. The federal government has, from the time this airs and posts, about 30 hours to avoid a shutdown. Though the House had a bipartisan deal at the beginning of the day that seemed likely to pass, President-elect Trump and incoming shadow president Elon Musk demanded a new bill. They heavily pressured Congress to reject the bipartisan bill in order to suspend the debt limit, a strange move for an incoming administration supposedly obsessed with efficiency. Musk's involvement here is leading us to beg the question: who the hell elected this guy???

ALCS: 1 of 971 this year (Hour 1)
Dom's back, rested, and ready to radio! Earl Ingram joins to cohost.
While Dom was away, Wisconsin featured in the national news- and not for the things that make our state so wonderful like cranberries and scenery. No, our great state was in the national news because of yet another school shooting. Dom checks in on the Abundant Life Christian School shooting, what we know about the shooter, and most importantly- what we do now. What changes do we need to see to prevent more children from the deep trauma of gun violence in our places of learning? This school shooting was only the latest of 971 this year according to the Gun Violence Archive. 2024 has seen nearly 1000 school shootings. How many will it take for legislators to admit it's too much?
As we process through the day after yet another mass school shooting, many of us are looking for ways to help. One path is to donate to help the community. Among many options, United Way of Dane County has organized a fundraiser you can contribute to here.

Civic Media Spotlight for Weekend of December 7th, 2024 (Hour 1)
Kicking off this hour, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Wisconsin's own Ben Wikler to discuss his bid for Chairman of the National Democratic party and the reasons he believes the Democrats did not see the results they wanted in November.
Then on UpNorthNews Radio, Ron ‘Duff’ Martin, an Eau Claire teacher who serves on the executive board of the National Education Association, talked about how this week’s overturning of Act 10 by a court can play a role in improving public education in Wisconsin. There will still be appeals of the ruling that strikes down former Gov. Scott Walker’s signature law that gutted public employee unions in the state in 2011, but Martin said if the final outcome is the reinstatement of collective bargaining rights, then unions will be able to negotiate working conditions that will help retain teachers and address worsening shortages, especially in rural districts.
On Matenaer On Air this week, former assembly candidate and county party volunteer Emily Tseffos joined the show to discuss what the Democrats need to do post election and the conversations that need to be had. She also speaks about the conversations that need to be had between voters and what keeps us connected and not divided. Emily also speaks about what needs to happen on the county party level with regard to long range planning for future elections.
The hour wraps with a segment from the Maggie Daun Show, where Maggie shares her takes on the news of the week that a county judge has ruled certain portions of the 2011 Act 10 unconstitutional and what is likely to come next in the battle to return collective bargaining rights back to public sector unions.

Presents and Presence (Hour 1)
Earl Ingram cohosts for the day with Dom. Starting the show off on the lighter side, Dom and Earl discuss the merits and shortcomings of holiday gifts. For some, it's an opportunity to demonstrate their affections. For many, gift giving becomes a heavy burden on their time and resources. So what are some alternatives? Can't we all just get together and enjoy each other's company? We think so!

Up first on this hour of Spotlight, the Maggie Daun Show sits down for an interview with Jeff Mandell of Law Forward on the new case against Michael Gableman for his fake election investigation.
Then, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Dr. Omar for In the Pharmacy and the two discuss their concerns surrounding vaccine availability and research under the leadership of someone like RFK Jr. at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Next, Major General Randy Manner (Ret.) from National Security Leaders For America returns to Matenaer On Air and he discusses with Jane and Greg what a second Trump administration will have in store for the military if his nominee Pete Hegseth is confirmed. This includes mass firings, recalling retired officers to stand trial for treason, as well as what will be the function of the military on the world stage. He also offers sound thoughts on when to expect major changes to the government.
Finally, Civic Media's Teri Barr joins Maino & the Mayor with another "Slice of Wisconsin" that focuses on the wonders of Jolly Good soda! Lots of great information about the resurgence of the brand, but also the fun memories of drinking it growing up, and the fact that you can find it in your local stores now.

Character Really Ought to Matter (Hour 1)
Matt Rothschild cohosts with Dom today. First, a survey of Trump's nominations for Cabinet. This shouldn't be surprising, but it's still rattling: four of his nominations so far are accused of sexual abuse.
Earl Ingram joins us for a segment to talk about the role racism played in the 2024 Presidential election. He sees this election as a serious rollback of social progress. And he's right. The incoming administration promises to oppose every effort to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Mood Matters (Hour 2)
Democratic political advisor and strategist Joe Zepecki joins Dom and Earl for a half hour digging into what the hell happened. Was it an uninformed public? A lack of focus on the reality of people feeling left behind by the economy? What about the mood that the Harris-Walz ticket embraced? Was their joy just too out of touch in a change era? And what in the name of Democracy do we do now?
Well, we get involved. Be part of the civic discourse. Engage, ask questions, share your opinions with your elected officials. Hold them accountable for representing YOU.
