Dom Salvia
CAP & ABCs (Hour 2)
Maggie begins this hour by speaking with Shannon Baker-Branstetter, Senior Fellow for domestic Climate and Energy Policy at CAP, to discuss the outgoing Biden Administration’s accomplishments with environmental action and previewing some of the ramifications of the second Trump Administration’s first days in office through executive orders.
Then, fellow Civic Media host Dom Salvia joins the program for "In Case You Missed It" to recap some of the ABC's of what the second Trump Administration is going to do to the middle class. Maggie takes a look at the World Economic Forum in Davos as an example of how billionaires are calling the shots, not the We the People.

Civic Media Spotlight for January 25th & 26th (Hour 1)
It was a busy news week around the state and country this week, here are a number of topics that Civic Media hosts shared how the news affected our communities around across Wisconsin this week.
Up first this hour, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul joins the Dom Salvia Show and cohost for the day Earl Ingram to discuss how and why Wisconsin joined a lawsuit against Donald Trump. In the first hours of his second Presidential term, Trump issued an Executive Order that would strip some born in the United States of citizenship. Of course, that directly violates Section 1 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution granting citizenship to all those born or naturalized in the US. Hence the lawsuit. In Kaul's words- a disastrous way to start his second term.
Then, on Matenaer On Air, Jane and Greg cover the pardons that were issued for everyone who took part in the January 6 insurrection, including those who were charged with violent offenses, on Donald Trumps first day back in the Oval Office. That is even after the administration said it would go over the cases thoroughly and wouldn't seek to pardon those convicted of violent crimes, the show discusses the people from Wisconsin who participated in the event.
Up next on this weekend's Spotlight, State Assembly Rep. Francesca Hong (D-Madison) talks to UpNorthNews Radio's Pat Kreitlow about the many issues to be debated during the new session of the Wisconsin Legislature—with a main emphasis on her “Healthy School Meals For All” proposal.
Finally, on the Todd Allbaugh Show, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported this week that CBS 58 in Milwaukee fired weather reporter Sam Kuffel for criticizing Elon Musk on her personal social media. While there may have been a legitimate reason to lay her off, the subsequent silence from CBS 58 speaks volumes. The Todd Allbaugh Show discusses this dangerous precedent set very early on in Donald Trump’s presidency. If media companies fire people in their weather departments for criticizing somebody who isn’t even an elected official, trust in news departments will likely deteriorate even further.

To begin this hour, the Todd Allbaugh Show welcomes Sean Hanish, Director/Producer of Just A Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers, joined us to talk about Bob Uecker's legacy.
After that, the Earl Ingram Show catches up with Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul to talk about the role of the Attorney General and how the state is looking to tackle gun safety and protect reproductive rights.
Then, the Maggie Daun Show is joined by Dom Salvia for "In Case You Missed It," continuing the discussion about Donald Trump's historic sentencing today for fraud in New York, especially Trump's attorney's statement that there should never be any politically motivated prosecutions - you don't say, Todd. Maggie calls Judge Merchan a genius and Dom agrees. Find out why and tune in!
Finally, Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba is joined by director of the new Packers movie, Green and Gold, Anders Lindwall. Anders and Pete talk about living growing up in the Upper Peninsula. Anders shares how he and his brother got the idea for Green and Gold, and what it took to make the film. Anders and the film crew shot the film in Door County, with the farmers and towns behind the film.

The Reconciliation Process (Hour 2)
Every Monday Maggie is joined by a special guest from the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Today we talk with Bobby Kogan, Senior Director of Federal Budget Policy, to discuss the upcoming budget reconciliation process, its significance, and how Republicans will try to change major policies through reconciliation, largely focused on tax cuts for the ultra wealthy and corporations. Bobby, known for simplifying complex topics, has held key economic policy roles in the Biden-Harris administration and worked with the Senate Budget Committee and Senators Patty Murray and Bernie Sanders.
Maggie is then joined by Dom Salvia for "In Case You Missed It," continuing the discussion about Donald Trump's historic sentencing today for fraud in New York, especially Trump's attorney's statement that there should never be any politically motivated prosecutions - you don't say, Todd. Maggie calls Judge Merchan a genius and Dom agrees. Find out why and tune in!

Holding The 119th Congress Accountable (Hour 2)
At the last minute, Mike Johnson was reelected as Speaker of the House, and the 119th Congress has entered session. To discuss what lies ahead, Maggie is joined by Laura Rodriguez, the Vice President of Government Affairs at the Center for American Progress Action Fund. President-elect Trump ran on bringing down prices for the average American, but a disproportionate amount of his cabinet members are millionaires and billionaires. Maggie and Laura talk through what a new round of Trump tax cuts could look like.
At the bottom of the hour, Dom Salvia returns to the show for another edition of In Case You Missed It. He and Maggie listen back to a conversation they had on the day of the insurrection in 2021.

Civic Media Spotlight for January 4th & 5th (Hour 2)
To begin the second hour this weekend, John and Gordy, of WMDX's morning program the John and Gordy Show, talk with Jim Santelle about being an intern at the White House in the summer of 1980 during the Carter administration, and how his presidency is unjustly overlooked.
Then, the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Alan Borsuk, Senior Fellow in Public Policy at Marquette Law School, to discuss the issues facing Milwaukee Public Schools. Earl and Alan talk about the politics of how the state funds education, how mismanagement led to the current problems, and the path ahead for the district.
After that on the Dom Salvia Show, Dom and cohost of the day Earl Ingram discuss the desperate need for elder leaders to pass the torch. With the average age of a US Senator being 68 years and a distinct lack of youth voices in politics, it's no wonder young people didn't turn up to vote. We need elected officials who represent AND resemble their constituents.
We close out the weekend with a segment from WGBW and WISS's morning program, Maino and the Mayor. The guys talk about this day in 1967 when the famed Ice Bowl took place in Green Bay. The Packers beat the Cowboys, and the goalpost came down. We visited this great memory with several guests, including former reporter Tony Walter. He shares many great stories based on that day in his book "Ice Bowl: The Game That Will Never Die."
