Civic Media Spotlight for January 18th & 19th (Hour 1)
Kicking off the weekend, we recall Jane, Greg and Cal inviting Steven Arenzon, the owner of Wisconsin Knitcaps to the show to talk about the legacy of the company, the mission of what they do and why he just doesn't want to print anything with cussing! It is the relaunch of our Beyond The Cheese segment and he brought us custom made hats to celebrate!
Then, on the Chad Holmes Show is joined by Nick Ramos of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign after eight Wausau citizens filed an ethics complaint against Mayor Doug Diny for his actions with a voting drop box in September.
After that, on UpNorthNews Radio Pat is joined by Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford, currently serving as a Dane County judge, who is running against Scott Walker’s former attorney general Brad Schimel for a pivotal role on the state’s high court in the April 1 election. Crawford tells the show about her experience and takes issue with Schimel’s recent comment in support of the January 6 insurrectionists who launched a violent attack on the US Capitol.
Wrapping up the hour, Tim Slekar talks about multiple intelligences on the John & Gordy Show, and John and Kathryn give examples of how when they were kids, teachers allowed them to express learning in different ways, rather than a standardized test - and how that needs to be emphasized more now.

What Do We Want To Be? (Hour 1)
Republican endorsements for Kamala Harris for President continue to roll in. Why? Well, because they recognize that this election is not between a Democrat and a Republican. This election is about what kind of country we want this to be. Do we want a nation where we support one another? Do we want a country that values truth, integrity, and decency? Or do we want a nation divided and weakened by lies and hate, where politicians use every natural disaster for political games? To us, the answer is simple.
Nick Ramos, Executive Director of The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign joins Dom to talk money in politics. Nick's message is simple: people matter more than money. Yet the amount of money in Wisconsin campaigns now... it's staggering. And it shows that too many value money over people. This is the system we have. It's broken, and until Citizens United is overturned, it will continue. So, vote. Vote to change the system. And use your voice to tell our elected officials that YOU value people more than money.
Join Dom Salvia every weekday afternoon from 4-6pm for news (some), humor (more), and great conversation (always)! Listen throughout the state of Wisconsin on the Civic Media network and worldwide on the Civic Media app. Call or text to join the fun at 855-752-4842.

We are also joined by Chad Dally of the Marathon County Public Library for the last time as he is moving to a new position at the Portage County Library. We also meet our new point person for our twice monthly updates from the MCPL.

Kamala Didn’t “Turn Black” – with Nick Ramos (Hour 1)
Todd has the day off, so our friend Luke Mathers has stepped in to host today’s show! After a brief tangent on this year’s Summer Olympics, he covers the latest political news. Yesterday, former President Donald Trump attended a conference with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). Ultimately, they asked fair questions, and Trump refused to answer them directly. The event ended early as soon as Project 2025 was mentioned. Luke provides his perspective.
At the bottom of the hour, Nick Ramos returns to the show! As the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, he has his finger on the pulse of politics. Also, as a Black man, he has a lot to say about Trump’s remarks at yesterday’s NABJ conference. Donald Trump now claims that Kamala Harris used to be Indian and has now “turned black.” Nick Ramos contends that either the former President is gaslighting, having memory issues, or both.
Afterward, Nick and Luke talk about Wisconsin’s upcoming primary election on Tuesday, August 13th. Early in-person voting has already begun! Visit myvote.wi.gov or civicmedia.us/vote to make your plan to be a voter. Nick tells us all about what’s on the ballot and why it’s important to vote NO to both constitutional referendums.

It’s a BLOC Party (Hour 2)
Who do you want VP Harris to pick for her running mate? Who is the best person to compliment her? Angela Lang and Matt Rothschild discuss the deep Democratic bench available. Plus, they actually look at Kamala Harris's record as a prosecutor.
Nick Ramos from the WI Democracy Campaign joins the BLOC party talking about a "get out the vote" event at MATC. Nick also urges people to vote NO on the Amendments offered on the August primary ballot. August primaries at best have a 20% turnout, that doesn't seem to be enough to amend the WI Constitution.

We have a tremendous hour of content from morning shows across the Civic Media network. Up first, Stephanie Krubsack joined Maino & the Mayor this week. Stephanie is in Green Bay right now to do a special protégé project with the Packers, but also travels the world and blogs about her experiences. Her brand, Purevant Livving focuses on health, wellness, the environment and giving back. Purevant is part of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. She's even eaten part of a tarantula spider! Great life story!
Then on Up North News Radio, Pat discusses the new RNC and how a portion of donations will go to help former President Trump with his legal fees and judgment payments. He opens with a comparison of what would happen if Hunter Biden were to take over the DNC and the uproar over such a situation.
After that, John and Gordy get an update about the current status of the redistricting saga in Wisconsin from the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, Nick Ramos. Nick provides a recap of how the state got to where it is now in the process and shares an update on the status of the new legislative maps for the state.
Finally, Susan Feehrer-Laack, Executive Director of Racine Neighborhood Watch joins the Don Rosen Show to talk about their “Take a Taste Out of Crime” fundraiser, Friday night at Roma Lodge, and how our listeners can get involved with Neighborhood watch.

Broke ass white boy
We've all been broke before, who hasn't had to make buttered noodles last a weekend? We've never been as broke as Trump today though! He's been ordered to pay $364 million in fines due to his shady business dealings in New York.
Former head of the Republican Party of Wisconsin and false elector Andrew Hitt is making his way to 60 Minutes this weekend to spin lies about why he tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election. He was just scared, you can't blame him! Let's just hope that the 60 Minutes interviewer, whoever that may be, holds him to the fire like he deserves.
Nick Ramos, from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign and the WI Fair Maps Coalition, joins the Devil's to talk about the new legislative maps, written by Tony Evers, passed by Republicans in the legislature, and awaiting signature by Evers again. Crute's argued most of the week that Evers needs to VETO the maps! Ramos disagrees, saying we need to take what we can get now!
