Lets have a talk with Mandela Barnes (Hour 2)
Mandela Barnes joins the program to share insights on last night's debate, focusing on the performances of Susan Crawford and Brad Schimmel. The conversation delves into their assessment of Crawford's tactics, highlighting critiques of her strategies during the debate. They also discuss Schimmel's attempts to reshape his image to connect with voters, effectively concealing his true self. Barnes expresses concern over the troubling decline in participation among Black Democratic voters, pointing out that turnout dropped significantly in 2012 and has remained low through 2016 and beyond, primarily due to candidates' inability to gain their trust. The discussion then opens up to callers, who express their worries and suggest ways to encourage greater voter engagement.

All Hands on Deck
Former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes joins Maggie for "Broad Appeal." Obviously, he's not a woman, but he does have a story about a female federal employee fired under a DOGE directive. As Mandela says, these are real people with real stories in an unstable situation. You can watch the entire interview at https://www.therecombobulationarea.news/p/pawn-in-a-billionaires-game-a-federal. Maggie and Mandela also discuss a possible government shutdown. Mandela believes in good faith negotiations. He doesn't believe the GOP is currently acting in good faith though. If he were representing WI in the US Senate, Mandela would not vote for the GOP budget plan. He encourages us to dig deep and give everything that's happening as much attention as we would in a presidential election!

“Pawn in a billionaire’s game”: A federal worker shares her story

Barnes sat down with Katia Wanish, who until recently was a wetlands engineer at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), which is part of the USDA. She shared her story with Barnes in this special edition of The Recombobulation Area podcast.

Rule Of Law Is Not Partisan – Democracy Defense Project (Hour 1)
To kick off today’s show, Todd poses an important question: do you trust your local poll workers? Overwhelmingly, it appears that people trust their neighbors to safely and accurately conduct elections. With that local confidence, why are many people doubting the security of elections across the nation? At the bottom of the hour, Todd is joined by two members of the Democracy Defense Project, a bipartisan organization dedicated to rebuilding trust in the American election system. Former Republican State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and former Democratic Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes may not agree on policy, but they agree that the rule of law must be upheld.
