Medicaid Cuts and Advocates
This week we visit with two powerful Medicaid advocates who share their stories and help debunk some of the rhetoric behind the looming Medicaid cuts.
Medicaid cuts appear imminent, and some of our most vulnerable friends and neighbors will be impacted. This week, Medicaid advocates Lynn Meshke and Mimi Gerner join me to define Medicaid, debunk some of the controversial messages floating around, and describe how these cuts will harm their families.

I’m also featuring music by Ax and the Hatchetmen, a Chicago-based alt-indie band I heard over Memorial Day weekend at Hinterland Brewery’s 30th anniversary party.

Saving Medicaid
Lynn Meshke joins Mark to talk about "Saving Medicaid." They go in depth to talk about who is served by Medicaid and how the scope of service will surprise you.
Lynn gives her personal story on how she became involved in the fight, and she answers the question of whether or not legislators know the truth, all while shouting how "waste, fraud and abuse" is rampant. Lynn then details what is on the chopping block and how soon we could see action on it.

In the musings segment, Mark talks about how saving medicaid can be attributed to "doing the most good" and how that parallels the newly elected pope.
