Evergreen Theater & Area 509

April 16, 2025

John Craemer & Janelle Fisher from the Green Bay Press Times are in with their weekly feature: Headlines with the Press Times! John is a multi-media journalist with the local paper, and Janelle covers everything entertainment! This week, they bring in Mike Ajango with Evergreen Theater. Mike shares a number of performances they have coming up over the next few months, and also talks briefly about a great summer program for kids that Evergreen puts on. Discussion of all the great music, theater, and arts in the area reminds us how lucky we are to have many great performance venues, large and small, in Northeast Wisconsin. Then a friend of the show, Reggie Desamour, owner of Area 509 in Appleton, joins to talk about his new food truck, "Busted Spud," and some of the events they have planned this summer. Reggie has an interesting backstory! His passion for cooking started at a young age when he would be in the kitchen with his mother in Haiti. The youngest of three sons, he helped with a variety of chores, but cooking was his favorite. His passion was there! Early in 2019, Reggie decided to turn a hobby into a business and began the process of building his own food trailer. He wanted his food trailer to feature his authentic Caribbean food while allowing him to travel to different communities and connect with people. Roxanne even made us some rum cakes for his visit!

We love the Press Times because it covers local news and local sports and is locally written. Then Jim and John talk a bit about the possible hike in parking fees in Green Bay during the upcoming NFL Draft, and also a report that claims some local businesses around the event near Lambeau are expecting to lose money during the "shut down" of local traffic in the area.

Challenge Coins & Apple Blossoms

March 25, 2025

Kevin Osgood and John Craemer from the USCG Auxiliary join the show to promote boating safety courses. You can click HERE to see the upcoming dates for courses in Northeast Wisconsin. John and Kevin also presented Challenge Coins to Jim, John, and Todd. It was an amazing honor. Then another amazing friend stops by: Babs Smith. Her organization is planting another 50 apple blossom trees in with the Apple Blossom tree planting event at the Apple Creek Trail at Cherryvale Avenue in Appleton. It's coming up on Thursday, May 8th, at 10 am. Babs also released her latest book: Day Tripping Kayak Wisconsin Waters of Green Bay West Shore: Green Bay to Garden Peninsula Upper Michigan.

Medicine & Headlines

February 14, 2025

We start the second hour of this Valentine's Day show with Mark Husen from Bellin Sports Medicine. Since today is Organ Donor Day, Mark reminds people to "get that sticker" on the back of their driver's license to affirm that they are organ donors. This is a great idea on a day that is supposed to be about love. Then Tori Whittenbrock and John Craemer are in the studio with the Headlines With The Press Times.
